What's the oldest vehicle you've seen still being actively used by law enforcement or EMTs?
Back in 2002 in the UK, the Fire service went on strike for more gibs, the army had to step in using these bad boys from the 50s. I'm sure a few people died as a result.
>>28673474The "SWAT" team still uses ~2016 Ford F250's, Ram 2500's and Tahoes. EMT's are always running new Tahoes/Suburbans or new GM based ambulances. All the ambulances are gassers so they usually retire them before they become tired.
>>28673474My local fire department uses an old Chevy truck that can't be newer than 1985
>>28673474
Your mom is up there as the oldest load hauling dumper I've ever seen a cop use.
>>28673565gottem
>>28673474Up until 2017 the local police department still was using a first generation Taurus. The sheriff's department still has some crown vics.
>>28673494square body GM trucks were kept in production until 1992, mostly for fleet use after about 1989
>>28673474>>28673494Fire departments here still have old deuce and a halfs, Humvees, and m715s. Bush trucks are a multi hundred thousand dollar purchase so they'll probably be around for awhile.
>>28674066Ours has some deuce and a halfs they got as surplus in the early 80s
>>28673474idk it's extremely rare for them to use cars over 10 years old,but the municipal fleet still has some squarebody ford trucks blieve it or not
I've seen the transit agency with orange GMC vans. I took a picture of this one but I've also seen them on the highway
>>28674584LMAO caltrans got some jeepers creepers shit going that's insane.
>>28674643kek
>>28674643Yes, trans from Cali do give me the creeps
Not law enforcement but my city's public works department has a jellybean F150 that's pretty clean. It's pretty rare that anything survives 20 years of continuous use in the salt belt.
I graduated high school in 2005. Our town had a small police department, 12-15 part-time officers who shared 4 patrol cars. 1 1997 Crown Victoria, 1 1995 Crown Victoria, 1 1992 Crown Victoria and 1 1985 Dodge Diplomat. Today, the department has been disbanded, but the 95 Vic is still being used by the highway department as a supervisor vehicle. They just swapped the red/blue lights with amber and scraped off the police markings.
>>28673474In the salt belt? It's pretty rare to see stuff in active service that's over a decade old. My town had at least one holdout P71 crown vic that lasted longer than the rest but I don't think I've seen it since like ~2022 so it's probably gone. The local electrical utility still has fleet spec Super Duty service trucks that are old enough to still have the stripper-tier sealed beam headlamps, so at least 2010 or older.
Florida Highway Patrol has this CVPI P71, the last one in active service on their entire fleet and it operates on I-95 in Brevard County and it's fucking mintSeriously if I saw it I might be tempted to speed past it just for the picture of getting pulled over in 2025 by a CVPI
>>28673474Does military count? our "military" is still rocking GMT800's and old G Wagons.
As a fire mechanic I can say that OPs question is a little misleading.Firetrucks routinely hit a million miles without any drivetrain work.Theyre garage kept and polished daily because firefighters have nothing else to do while sitting around at the station.Theyre built off of chassis' that have remained unchanged since the 60s.Many are older than you.
>>28673474not quite the same, but until 2008 or so a local pizza place was still using a pontiac acadian (t1000) for deliveries.other than that, local police uses an 11th gen f150 to haul their boat.
>>28673474out in wyoming they were using cckw's as fire trucks and brush trucks, they were only ever going about 35-40mph >>28673963down in smithville TN they had a chevy lumina police car in 2019, poor bastards
>>28675853There's some guy in my town still driving a silver early 80s Acadian that I see once in a blue moon. You almost want to cheer the little guy on just for being a disposable 80s shitbox that beat the odds and still manages to be on the road somehow.
SFPD still has a bunch of vics.
>>28677021>>28675041Ford could dust off the manufacturing dies for the Crown Vic, slot in the 5.0 and the 10R80 from the Mustang, and sell it for fleet use and make absolute bank from taxi and police agencies. toss in some mild hybrid system that only exists to quickly restart the car so they don't have to sit idling for hours and it would be perfect.
