fuck off to all the car guys who keep trying to say awd is useless and I just need good snow tires. NO, I ACTUALLY DO NEED AWD BECAUSE I LIVE SOMEWHERE THAT GETS FUCKING 50-60 INCHES OF SNOW. I’M NOT AN IDIOT, I KNOW MY TOWN AND WITHOUT AWD YOU ARE COOKED. Anyways give me some good car recommendations that are awd , affordable, and look nice.

>50-60 INCHES OF SNOW.
all at once?
probably not
shut the fuck up youre the blackest baboon gorilla nigger on this board

But see, while AWD can help you go in the snow it doesn't help you stop any better so it's worthless. Snow tires are all you need because those will help you stop too.
>>
Skill issue

Most AWD is fake AWD that only sends power to the rear when slip is detected.
As a poster above said it mostly just helps you get moving from a stop. Though with a good AWD system you can vector the car into corners with throttle if you're ballsy.
Snow tires on a FWD and learning to use restraint are legitimately a better option for 90% of people over some garbage AWD system.
Now real AWD with Blizzaks? That's the shit right there.
Get a Forester if you want AWD so badly.

if you got locking center diff it actually helps you stop better in low-traction conditions

I live in the UP and my winter car is a Crown Vic with blizzaks and a few bags of concrete in the trunk. You are a certified noskill FAG.

If you really get that much snow then you should be looking at 4x4 SUV's and trucks and not stupid fucking AWD vehicles with 3'' of ground clearance and wide rubber band tires.
>>
>>28674509
An STi (3 LSDs) will run rings around a 4x4 in the snow. I say this from experience.

I don't like Goyotas overall but they have a nice AWD system. I only have Ford's AWD system to compare it to, but it was leagues ahead. Multiple AWD Fords I've driven were slidey as fuck, my Rav4 could not slide with good deep tread tires.

You're a snowlet. I'd drive past stuck big trucks all the time and laugh in my Rav4. I never saw small light AWDs get stuck, but the big heavy cars would always be struggling. Maybe that's why the Ford Explorer I drove for work was so bad compared to my Rav4, it was heavier. But I wouldn't get any heavy vehicle for snow, they don't seem to do well even the notorious Wrangler. If it's really high snow then yeah higher clearance helps but you can always lift any AWD vehicle. Typically we're talking about driving on some stage of plowed road or icy roads. Never had to drive through 3 feet of snow, definitely wouldn't want to in any vehicle.

you’re a dumb faggot that deserves to crash if you genuinely think AWD is needed. I lived in the Canadian arctic archipelago for a few years and got by with a 2WD truck with winter tires just fine. you’re just a limp wrested faggatoid normie.

Most be why they use them for all those polar expeditions, right?

Skill issues. The most winter confident vehicle I've driven has been a 20k lb 5 ton box truck. It had pretty brutal traction even on pure ice despite having rock hard tires at 120psi. I've always found heavier vehicles to be more stable and predictable in in climate conditions.

Shut up nigger. We get the same amount of snow where I am, and I just run snows on 2wd's (either fwd or rwd). Hell, I've ridden motorcycles in light snow on the road before. My dad's braver than me though, he's motorcycled to work in snow up to the footpegs.

Snow up to the bottom of your bumper? Yeah, the sti would do some sick rally drifting, I bet it's a blast.
snow to the bottom of my stock obs f150's bumper? I'll be happy to pull you out.

I lived in Michigan with an STi (and blizzaks), it was never an issue. The one time we had an actual blizzard I just went out joyriding when all the 4x4s were sitting on the side of the road. Where the heck are you guys finding 3 feet of snow on roads?

>Where the heck are you guys finding 3 feet of snow on roads?
It's pretty common in leafland. In the flatter rural areas the wind blows the snow into hardpacked drifts. In the cities the snow plows clear the main roads and leave 3' tall mounts of snow that block the side roads. Punching through these with a conventional car is risking ripping your bumpers/exhaust off or ripping your oil pan open. It's called just using the right tool for the job.

You need something like this obviously

The japanese will literally drive 70 hp kei cars in this weather.
>>
>awd for snow
cringe and unnecessary
>awd for climbing up hills covered in long grass slick with morning dew and cow shit on cattle ranches
based and very necessary
