They'll say it's bait but it's not. All I want is a simple daily driver that I can still rip ass in once in a while. It really feels like there's no reason not to get a Plaid. The performance to value proposition is too strong.
>>28674922Is a plaid really necessary then?
>>28674922You think there might be a reason why a car would loose $100k after 4 years and 40k miles?
>>2867492589k for 1000hp
>>28674927They sold for over twice that with the dealer markups in the real world.
>>28674925I know exactly why. I could go into detail but you wouldn't care. Spoiler alert it turns out cars depreciate quite a bit when you upgrade them 2 years later and drop the price by nearly $60k.
Just get a 911. Cost of ownership is lower because they don't depreciate that much.
>>28674922if you have a place to L2 charge it daily, or every other day, then go for it
>>28674964A 911 at that price point is some shitty 996 or a ratty 997.
>>28674961Meanwhile a 2-4 year old $100k pickup truck is going to sell for $95k. Really makes you think.
>>28674969Got a source for that number or are you just pulling it out of your ass because it feels right to you? 2021 F-150s have depreciated 40-50%
>>28674969No 100k truck was worth 95k 2-4 minutes after it left the lot, let alone 2-4 years. Maybe the unobtainium Raptor R but that's it. TRXs are down 30k in 4 years.
>>28674978>>28674990Half tons are memes. Go look at what the 3/4 or one ton diesels go for in the used market.
>>28674929>dealer markupTesla doesn't have dealerships
>>28674968Yeah 50k is decent Cayman/Boxster S territory
>>28674922>imagine buying a used batterylol
>>28674964>>28675057Imagine someone's looking at 800+hp 5 seater full size sedans and you think "nah actually get a tiny little 2 seater with barely 300hp"basically the same thing
>>28674922>rip ass in once in a whilehi gen alpha faggot that's not buying a car, rip ass doesn't mean what you think it means.
>>28674922Just get a Tesla Model 3 performance? You can get one brand new with that kind of money.
>>28674922Model 3 + manual vette is the move Performance EVs are a meme and aren't that fun to drive
>>28674922The reason is that there's more to driving than just spreadsheet numbers. But you seem like a normie who just wants to speed from red lights occasionally, which the Tesla would do just fine
>>28675146I literally said that's what I was looking for...
>>28675146There's also spinning out and mowing crowds where the Hellcats shine.
>>28675095Low hp EVs are all launch and no pull. They're no good on the highway. New Model 3 does 60-130 in just under 10 seconds. Plaid does it in just over 4. That's an insane difference. People who have never driven or rode in a 1000hp car truly can't comprehend that much power
>>28674927>89k for 1000hpthat's with brand new batteries though
>>28674927It's sadly not 89k anymore. Price hike + mandatory FSD bundle + tax - rebate makes it 119k. And that's no options.
>>28675085I never recommended a Porsche 2 seater, I'm saying realistically 50k gets you a decent Boxster/Cayman S. The 911 you can get for 50k isn't desirable.
>>28675512>I'm not recommending it I'm just saying you should get itOh okay
G87 M2
>>28675420Not really how batteries work there champ. Battery degradation mostly affects total capacity (range), not peak discharge rate, so even a 5% capacity loss doesn’t linearly reduce horsepower.
>>28675335Kind of, but then you brought up performance to value which is a much more complicated beast then just stop light racing. But Tesla is perfect for completely useless retards like you
>>28675607I know... That's the whole point of the thread...
>>28674922OP, have you ever seen a Tesla hooning? No?There’s your answer.I test drove a P85D and it was lifeless. I did a couple of pulls and then… I just didn’t want to do anything with it except drive between the lines at the speed limit,It doesn’t urge you to get on it. Hitting the throttle or turning the wheel in it doesn’t make you think, “I could make this dance,” and giving you the itch to do just that.I was bored with the push of the acceleration on the second pull since it’s just “there” and the car doesn’t make you want to carve corners at speed or even drive fast. It’s “acceleration to nowhere you care to be.”If Teslas were exciting you’d see the Performance models doing 0-60 in 3 seconds all the time. Instead you see it “never.”
>>28675904First of all lmao a P85 isn't even fast. I had a Model S Performance which is still way slower than a Plaid but faster than that. I hooned the shit out of that car. I always said if 0-60 in 2.5 seconds ever stopped being fun then I would kill myself. The only complaint I had was it fell off after about 80 but the Plaid fixes that by having 300 more hp. Id absolutely recommend one to anyone looking for a quick daily driver.
>>28676500Doing 0-60 in 2.5 seconds might not stop being fun but replacing your $2k+ tires will definitely stop being fun.
>>28675518Im not that guy but even I can comprehend what they were talking about. I really hope youre just trolling
>>28676507You think the tires on a hellcat will last longer?
>>28675739>two ellipsis in one postredditors need to go back
>>28674922People who are still buying gas cars are buying them for the experience, Tesla buyers just want to save money for basic transportation. In the future the fun gas cars will keep most of their value, not boring stuff like a Yaris.>>28674925Rich/middle class don't see cars like us normies, they see it as paying $100k to have a new car for 4 years.>>28675904Normies don't like the things that make cars fun for us cars guys, you know stuff like extreme sensory input like fast changes in direction or slight loss of control. Its why we like cars that technically may have faults. You kind of see it with sales, more normies are buying the Chinese electric cars that go 0-60 in 6 seconds even if they cost the same, I think eventually extreme acceleration electric cars will be fairly rare to find.
>>28676623imagine focusing on the way a point was expressed... and not the point itself...
>>28676531Probably yeah. Plus you'll only have to replace the rears instead of all 4. >>28676635>Rich/middle class don't see cars like us normies, they see it as paying $100k to have a new car for 4 years. You should go hang out with some actually wealthy people. They all lease. Very few of them are going to blow $100k on a toy when they could just invest that $100k.
>>28676637
>>28675058I bought a used 2014 P85D about six years ago now and it's still going strong on its original battery, and the new plaid batteries are waaaaay better.Side note: even though my old ass P85D is pretty pedestrian these days, it's been an extremely dependable family car and I'll be sad when I have to let it go someday (sooner rather than later as my family's needs is quickly going into the SUV/van territory, and no, I don't plan on getting an X).>>28676507>>28676649If you're wearing out your tires due to repeated 0-60 runs, the wear will still be far more in the rears, thus you can just replace the rears. It's still $1000-1100 though for the pair so that's still not fun.
>>28674922>3 years left until its battery is useless>vs most famous niggermobile that will appreciate as niggers wreck them>>28674969Just let him waste his money.
>>28674922>I can still rip ass inlelbuy the tesla if you want a fartbox
>>28676926Why do you think the battery is "useless" in 3 years? Because that's when the warranty expires? Do gas cars work the same way? Do engines typically just stop working after 4 years?
>>28677135battery in my car certainly dies after around 5 years
>>28677136Is that how you think an EV works? You think that under the floor there's just a whole bunch of 12v batteries wired together?
OP, do whatever you want. But have you driven a car <4 sec 0-60? I'll be honest it's terrifying on the street and throttle control in corners becomes difficult (aka, might kill you).>>28677142It's a bunch of vape batteries wired together with coolant flowing through them.
>>28674964Why would you spend more for a car that gets raped by a 2 series?
>>28674922>IESLB
>>28677147>It's a bunch of vape batteriesThe chinks like them with less explosive chemistry. The koreans with more explosive chemistry. >And coolantAlso a better BMS system.Original 2010 Nissan Leafs still drive on their original battery packs, which is also vape batteries. The catch is that a lack of thermal management system means they risk permanently overheating if you live anywhere really hot, while if you live anywhere cold its just some small heating required to get them into operation temperature. I wouldn't trust a Tesla S or X, but I would trust a 2nd gen Tesla 3 with staying permanently on the road until the owner gets bored, and the car rusts to pieces, due the cooling and BMS.
>>28676912I just bought a full set of Thailand tires for $350 new off ebay, did the same last year.
>>28675518>I'm just saying you should get itQuote where I said you should get a Porsche?
>>28674964>Just get a 911>>28675512>I'm saying realistically 50k gets you a decent Boxster/Cayman
>>28677670
>>28677701Okay guy if you have a point to make then just make it. I don't know what angle you're getting at but this "name one successful communist society" bit isn't working.
>>286754111000hp to get into 4s? Congrats, you can match a 20 year old Evo with $5k in it.I like quick cars, but what's with this desire for pigfat giant behemoths that can only feel performant in one timy area? Get a boring daily and a fun car. Do it all just sucks at everything.
>>28675057Those are not real Porsches though, and never will be.
>>28677670Those aren't the same posters, numbskull.
>>28678885You're not a real man, and never will be.
>>28678873>Get a boring daily and a fun car.Daily driving a boring car sucks. Every day you just wish you were driving a more fun car. That's where these cars comes in. You get the same comfortable practical daily driver but it also has a retarded amount of horsepower so you can still enjoy driving it.
