Just got back from an oil change in my 06 Mazda 3. My mechanic, based boomer of the dying breed, looked me in the eyes and said "I checked the car, everything is fine. But she rusts badly. Dont put any more money into her"Feels bad man. This lady carried me through mud and hell like no new car will. No maintenance other than oil changes for the last two years btw. I drive 15k+ km yearly for work. I looked around and I can get like a last gen from '21with 70k on it for, like, 23k euros with 2k off it being the banks jew tax. Checking the typical used car sites show people selling salvage and wanting up front 5k + for it.. I dont know what to do.

>>28676750Your boomer mech was just giving you an advanced notice that you should start planning, not ‘go look at other cars immediately’ Rust is likely fatal but it’s not fast and depends on when/where you drive and you could prob stave it off a little longer by spraying the underside with a diesel+motor oil mix. That said, your mech is just saying ‘hey if ur transmission fails, don’t bother fixing it and start saving your shekels for the next one’I would just drive on and enjoy my days with a paid off car, and you should too.
