I have never changed oil before. I have the money now I could just buy all the shit I need to change my oil. I hate taking it in for service and letting some random idiot do it. I'm a random idiot, so maybe I could do it. I own a Raptor R. I grew up building computers, not working on cars. I watched a bunch of videos and it seems pretty fucking simple. How likely am I to be a complete retard and brick my truck?

Bad news OP. Your truck is already a brick just for thinking about doing an oil change. Good news though, I'll take it off your hands for $500 and get rid of the headache.

Real talk though, the people working at Jiffy Lube are incredibly likely to fuck up your car. Just do it yourself, it's not very hard.

Unless a Raptor is tough to work on, it's an easy job. Its also sort of messy. So if you are doing it as a start to bigger wrenching jobs, OK. Otherwise, find a good shop and have them do it.

It looks simple as fuck, but I've never done it so I don't know if it's *actually* simple or if I'm just a fucking retard. Seems like I just lift the truck up with one of several methods to ensure it doesn't crush me, remove a few plugs, drain oil, remove filter, replace filter, plug shit up, pour oil in, move on with my life.

Yeah I know, trust me. Plus I have to go there and sit in a lobby for fucking 3 hours bored out of my mind. I'd rather listen to an audiobook or some shit.

It's easy, but if you do it wrong you're cleaning up for an hour. Also you need to properly dispose of your used oil, or you can just store it in old milk jugs in your garage until you die.

Dump it in my neighbor's pool, got it.

This. It's just messy and minorly unpleasant because the oil is sticky. I do my own oil changes.
