Here they are super gay, but not too hard to pass. But there are gay rules like:
>failing you for non-OEM seats
>failures for missing horn sticker on your steering wheel
>manufacturer no longer makes suspension components so it becomes impossible to pass

Finland? Sounds very much like ours. Despite the long checklist, it's usually quite quick and cheap.

I've seen some absolutely clapped gypsymobiles on the road occasionally, though. Junk with broken headlights, visible body rust + damage, wide cracks in the glass, etc. Usually crammed full of black-haired people.
No idea how those cars pass inspection. Maybe they just don't get them inspected.

Post-2018 car MOTs are no warning lights at all. It is ridiculous. Fortunately garages turn a blind eye as it is all so over the top and not safety related.

But then vintage cars (40yr+) don't need MOTs at all instead of having one to the standard of the day. I suppose 40 year old or more cars just aren't driven much

Has anyone ever had a suspension failure?
I've driven cars that are 70yrs old on original everything and haven't had a single part actually break in a way that made the car unsafe.

The rear struts on my '06 Mazda 5 would occasionally fail when the top mounting bracket would explode into several pieces, the strut would just flop against the side of the car. One time I didn't even notice until after I had gotten home from driving down the highway for an hour.
>>
>>28681740
People claim that place is good for auto enthusiasts??? Sounds like a fucking nightmare.

Here in Canada (actual Canada not new India) you only need an inspection if you want full coverage on a vehicle older than 14 years. If the car is newer than that or you just want liability then there's no inspection needed. You would have to try pretty hard to fail the inspection. It's just a lookover of the lights lights, brakes, tires and suspension components. I've passed them with multiple body mounts missing, rotted brake lines and inches of play in the steering components.
>>
>>28681740
We just got rid of all of our inspections. Shit is so goddamn cash. They still make you pay the seven dollars though.

Not a fan of them, but I guess they're pretty fair in here.
If you have 3 major defects in your car, it's a fail, if you don't pass emissions, it's a fail, if there's a major safety hazard, automatic fail and not allowed to be driven (red sticker) until the issue is fixed and you pass inspection.
I got the red sticker because my brake bleed nipple started leaking right on the lift, inspector was struggling if he'd mark it as a minor notification, but didn't want to risk it, so I got the red label instead.

Aftermarket shit rarely matters, some get it inspected and certified, I've never bothered.
Legally speaking even aftermarket wheels need to be certified and inspected.
Engine swaps are a bit iffy. A V8 swapped miata will get kicked right out unless you've got the proper dyno slips and done the "modification inspection".
A 6 cyl swap in a 4 banger BMW might get you a really long look from the inspector and depending on how well you know the dude, they'll let it pass without complaining.

Poland, it's pretty alright, mainly just making sure your car is not a death trap, but there are some things I don't like
>lights, all have to work, be correct color and aimed correctly
>horn
>all brakes working
>suspension and steering not shoddy
>exhaust noise and emissions within the limit
>no CEL
>no rust holes
The things I don't like mainly have to do with mods
>can't have a hydro e-brake
>can't have a roll cage
>lpg needs to be noted in the registration paper
>tow hook needs to be noted in the registration paper
>need to have all airbags (so need the original steering wheel, even if it doesn't have one)
>can't have led retrofits, this one hurts me personally, as someone who has a 2000s car with xenon headlights and yellow halogen parking lights, what the fuck, even germany allows it
>wheels can't stick out of wheelarches
Fortunately, even the strict guys at the inspection stations mostly look at the first four, and if you have a drift car or a rally car, you can just go to someone who you know will pass you

A bit, but I've got a welder and technically an infinite supply of 3 inch wide steel band I can cut and weld to shape to patch it up.

Actually those 3 holes were the only ones the inspector found on the floorpan, the front and rear left are the wheel arches, but I personally found a couple of more nasty spots that I've now cut open and welded fresh metal in.

Also ain't going to do shit to the high beams, they're fine.

2- dudes with actual non-compliant shitboxes operating in regulated environments (and assorted swarthoids) just go to a turkish shop and get it passed anyway

There is no inspection for emissions, or road-worthiness in my state. This leads to lots of actual unsafe garbage on the roads like rusted out trucks crab walking at a 10* angle from the direction of travel, cars with bumpers and parts dragging or falling off. Large numbers of very smokey cars.
I would like to see them return to doing inspections here, but it does not seem likely.
When I registered my last two cars, they did not even verify it. They did not check the car, or the VIN plate.

>crash rates for vehicles where the cause was determined to be mechanical, between states with regular versus no inspections, were too close together to discern any meaningful difference and driver competency was the biggest factor in a crash

nah finns get a pass

you had 40x more road deaths in the USA than the UK in 2024. And you only have 5x the population.
Are you just shit drivers?
>>
>>28684341
i'm not american, but they do cover a lot more distances and just drive a lot more than bongs and yuros. and yeah because a car is pretty much mandatory if you want to get anywhere at all, their education licence framework basically just allows anyone with a pulse to get a licence
>>
>>28684297
uh. ok.
you do realize that doesnt mean there's any relationship whatsoever between the two topics.
like >>28684330 said, way more to do with the driver than the mechanical status of the vehicle.
but hey... glad you're happy with your govt testing and revenue generation scheme.
miss me with that shit tho.

clearly it's because we dont have the king's own mot squad making sure our blinker fluid is topped off and the horn works.

do they really tho? most crashes occur at low speeds (urban)
>>
>>28684355
>do they really tho?
anon the US is fucking huge of course they drive more. that's not to say you're wrong about most crashes occurring at low speed; most of the time it's women that can't park for shit and hit everything, but then the insurance (if any) is under the husband or boyfriend so it makes it look like men hit cars more. i also already said that their education and licence requirements are shit enough that they just let anyone with a pulse get a licence, not helped by the fact that you really do need a car to get anywhere over there.
honestly the more i think about how easy it is to get a loicense there...good. or at least, it'd be good if cars weren't just uber safety cocoons, because if the driver is stupid enough to overestimate his or her skill level, or just does plain stupid shit, said driver removes him or herself from the gene pool. inb4
>he's gonna crash into you too retard
then so be it, that's the price of freedom and darwinism. unfortunately for me though, with how safe cars are now, these people will drive more recklessly up until they stop feeling safe, and they're more likely than not to get away unscathed and continue being a retard, which is why cars need to feel unsafe again before westart seeing any big drop in crash rates, and even then it'll eventually peter out and people will demand it to go lower again and start trying to reintroduce moar saftey.

>be in quebec, french ass shithole
>pro: no annual inspections
>pro: no front license plates
>money is more important than safety apparently
>your car can be a literal shitheap, nobody cares
>as long as you pay your annual fee you can drive it in any shape forever
>but park it for one year and inspection required
>bureaucracy

it was a study by the australian government, quite possibly the last entity i'd ever expect to release a report that goes even remotely against their nanny state narrative of SPEEDING KILLS.

UK for cars and bikes:
>it’s easy and cheap and basically is just them ticking a box to say your tyres are intact and your car isn’t about to blow up
>older than 40 years old and under three are exempt
>it’s done by local garages so you can go somewhere more “lenient” if you need to
Anything outside of that class (over 3.5 tons, tractors, vehicles with more than a certain number of seats:
>pepper your Angus
I don’t really agree with it because it’s a money making scheme like the theory licence requirement and road tax but on the other hand you would have to be driving an absolute POS to fail it on something you can’t do yourself

Op does live in the third world, though.
