Someone post his home street again. I forgot about my whole brake fluid "accident" plan.

We get snow for just a couple weeks a year. It's easier just to risk it. I can usually go without leaving the house for that duration.

I used to run winter tires and summer tires, but with how weak the recent winters have been, and how quickly both sets wear out, I switched to running CrossClimate2 only.
They are almost as good as a dedicated winter tire. Obviously nowhere as good as summer tires. I have been running them for 3 years without noticeable wear.
>>
>>28682675
Maybe after this sets wear out. I never buy the same tires twice.
>>
>>28682679
I'm only using PS4Ss and PSAS4s until they make better tires in their categories

What's snow?
>>
>>28682610
where i live, winter is 10 inches of rain spread across 3 months. i use all seasons.
>>
>>28682610
Winter tires? Rainy season is ending, I've been seeing a bunch of people start pulling out their classic cars and bikes in the past week or two, and I've done the same for my old shitboxes that have been parked all summer. Almost time for boost weather instead of heat soak weather, too.
I've never seen snow in my life.
>>
I'm deciding between winter and all terrain tires for my SUV.
>>
>>28682738
you got 10 inches of it this january.
>>
>>28682610
Mine were all fucked up so I replaced them with some all weather AT's. Hopefully they're good enough because I don't feel like buying and swapping on winter tires.

I don't mind swapping winter tires - my concern is more about how winter tires perform on rough dirt roads with loose gravel, big rocks, and ruts - and their puncture resistance relative to off-roadish all terrain tires. It seems like winter tires are made more for the road than the trail.
>>
>>28683018
Hakkapickelpizzas have pretty a pretty thicc tread base and kevlar sidewalls but they don't have the additional protection that an AT has. If you're crawling at low speeds off road you should be okay with a good winter tire at low pressure. Low pressures will allow the tire to wrap around shit instead of that shit slicing it open.
>>
>>28683027
I really hate the idea of having to adjust my pressures. I am not mechanically inclined and that seems like a hassle just for the usual 10-20 minutes on a garbage dirt road.
>>
>>28683033
So don't and rattle your truck and body to pieces. Or drop $3k+ on a good suspension setup.
>>
>>28683047
I don't think there's any way to fix the suspension because of what kind of car it is (i.e. not a truck or jeep)
its just a normal compact SUV
im just trying to decide between winter and all terrain tires

I live in Alabama we don't need snow tires because the whole state shuts down first sign of a flurry
>>
>>28683086
I am interested in visiting Huntsville and the mountains of NE Alabama, where perhaps there might be regular snow and ice in the winter. Any places you might recommend?
>>
>>28683090
Mentone is comfy, see the cook's museum if you're remotely interested in natural history or taxidermy, muscle shoals and Florence are worth a visit if you like that era of music, there's a great road south of hytop off SR79 if you look on Google maps
>>
>>28682990
Surprisingly, not a lot of dindus... Pajeets and Pakis on the other hand...
>>
>>28683097
>there's a great road south of hytop off SR79
does it have overlooks?
>you're remotely interested in natural history
kinda
>or taxidermy
less so, I prefer art, preferably locally made art
that waterfall looks nice, too bad it has been so dry
>if you like that era of music
not really into old fashioned music
>>
>>28683109
>does it have overlooks
No it's pretty heavily wooded
If you're looking for painting/sculpture art, you'll want to visit Florence, there's also a Frank Lloyd Wright house there as a museum. Tennessee valley museum of art in muscle shoals as well. That's in northwest Alabama but it's worth making the detour, like maybe an hour and a half travel time.
Not a whole lot in northeast Alabama besides camping/hiking. Good road south of DeSoto State Park and little River canyon preserve, and DeSoto is pretty cool too
>>
>>28683153
I don't really like Frank Lloyd Wright's style its kinda plain and generic.
>Not a whole lot in northeast Alabama besides camping/hiking.
I would be there for the hiking.
>>
Are Michelin X-Ice snow tires any good?

good for what?
>>
too early. 2-3 more weeks
>>
>>28683165
They feel the same as the Pirelli, Goodyear or Conti winter tires I've tried if not a little worse than them. Michelin tires have shitty snow and winter in general performance imo. I don't like their tread pattern. I don't think they're worth it when you can spend the same and get the best there is.
>>
>>28683049
Winter tires are not offroad tires.

I guarantee someone (King/Fox) sells a multi-stage shock for it.
Might not be worth the price for occasional outings though.
>>

Meh. I don't buy continental or badyear tires
>>
>>28683201
Do you drive an BMW M2?
Each of those tyres will gap the same pilot sport 4s that you and everyone else buys, and the supercar 3 will gap all of those and the original equipment version in the dry too, if that's what you care most about.

I live in a comfy mountain town. Black people are literally less than 1% of our population. Literally the only few I ever encounter are middle class normies when I go fishing or one Black boomer who works at the grocery store. Most we get here are some Mexicans and Armenians. Winter tires are for women and Chinamen.
>>
>>28683215
The OE PS4S will be slower in the dry than an Eagle F1 Supercar 3. If you want to make it a competition then start talking about other DOT legal track tyres like RE-71RS's or N'Fera Sport R's.

I just mean rough dirt roads with rocks and ruts not like actual off roading, but would winter tires or all terrain tires work better for a mix of highway driving and rough dirt roads?

>>28683196
Not for a Kia I don't think :(
>>
>>28683257
winter tires are road tires
also why do you keep asking this question even though you've already gotten answers multiple times
>>
>>28682610
No and they still won't be on for about a month. But they're already waiting in garage mounted on my cooler set of wheels. So all I need is a quick swap.
>>
>>28682610
I am getting my blizzaks installed next week. I can't wait. I want it to snow all day everyday now.

>>28684599
Did I say it was a bad tire anywhere?
No: only that there are better tires in the same segment.
Sorry if this is a difficult nuance to navigate but a multinational company not being perfect at everything doesn't mean it's not good at anything either; it means you can do your research and find who offers the best kit that will give you the best benefit for a given purpose.
>>
>>28682610
Nah, I drive a low-hp FWD car so I don't need to worry about snow until it stacks higher than my ground clearance.
>>
>>28684613
FWD cars are amazing in the winter and im tired of pretending otherwise.

>>
>>28682610
No I just never take them off. I bought the car used four years ago and I've been driving on them year-round ever since. Nothing bad ever happened and I don't know why everyone spergs the fuck out over it
>>
>>28684668
Because it's just fucking retarded. Winter tires fucking suck at anything that's not winter related. Then when winter comes along you have fuck all for traction because your tread is worn and drier as fuck.
>>
>>28684612
In the video you posted he said they are all amazing tires, all with their own personalities. Well, all except the falken and the budget tires. I'd consider the Pirellis, but none were "better" than the PS4S
>>
>>28682610
I usually do late November.
