I wonder what americans would feel like when they realize everywhere else in the world people tow things with a hilux just fine

Poor thing, I know that transmission and suspension is not having fun

I trust the Hilux more than any American made truck as it wins wars and the pos will still run after 300k miles in some poorfag african country for another 300k miles. I will not buy any big american trucks not because I dislike them, but because Americans can't build good cars in general with a few exceptions. We are not the same.

Hey anon have you heard of the Hilux?

>it wins wars
Its used in 3rd world shitholes because its the only thing available in third world shitholes.
When one gets blown up by an RPG, the local warlord tells Hakeem to go into town and steal another vehicle. The only thing Hakeem finds in town is Mercedes taxis and hilix pickups. So he carjacks a hilux.

I own multiple american vehicles from the 60s.
What are the oldest Toyota vehicles that are commonly found on the road today?
>>
>>28682728
Because when I'm in my TRUCK I am the invincible ruler of the road. I buy the 6.7L so everyone in my suburb knows I"M the boss and they know that I could be country if I wanted to. My spotlessly clean TRUCK, which in truth, I don't really need or have a use for, is a powerful symbol, indicative of my economic dominance among lesser beings. And as a resourceful American, I take pride in knowing that I COULD handle any tough truck situation that arises, even if it never does. Additionally, if any are so foolish as to cross my path, the fates of lesser vehicles and pedestrians are sealed. It's the end they chose. I care not about fuel economy, "Economy" doesn't enter the equation when I already took out a 96 month loan on $80,000 on 8,000 pounds of all American steel. Tell me son, what shits do I give about the price of diesel? From atop my high castle, my mobile command battleship, I look down upon your poor little econo box, so pitifully designed for maximum "efficiency" at the expense of your happiness. When I am in my TRUCK, I am in command. Yes, I am in a hurry, because my time is more valuable than yours, as evidenced by the amount I'm willing to invest in my personal transport. As such, I have the power to part traffic before me like I'm Moses himself. As they say, the higher the truck, the closer to God. My elevated position puts me nearer the clouds, in the company of angels, whilst you grovel in the dirt amongst the snakes and spiders. You and I are not the same.

>>
>>28682719
I bought a cheap Colorado from a dairy farmer.
He said it had a fresh axle rebuild and a rebuilt 4L60e.
Apparently he was towing a 12,000lb trailer with it and kept burning through diffs and 60e.

Maybe in the third world. I see way more GMT400's than Toyotas of that vintage. The same goes for GMT800's and Toyotas of that era. Most of these domestic trucks are still working hard too not just being pussyfooted around like the average Toyota.

Hiluxes and corollas in my part of the world, but you get the occasional OG landcruiser as well from time to time

A Tacoma wouldn't pull a camper or 3 side-by-sides distances that are greater than the breadth of your entire irrelevant country.

I think Eurocucks are so obsessed with trucks because they literally can't comprehend that Americans have outdoor hobbies and property where having a full-size truck is pretty necessary. I live in West Virginia, which is the poorest state in the country, and every weekend the roads are filled with both locals and people from as far away as New York and Texas coming here to mud and camp and hunt. Having the wealth, ability, and freedom to cross half a continent to sling mud around with specialty vehicle is something that couldn't even cross the mind of some comblock fag who's idea of a long trip and vacation is taking the cuck train from his city to a different city 100 miles away.

eurofag here
We simply dont have any wilderness to go offroading/ camping/ hunting.
Everything is in private hands, wild camping is illegal in most places.
There is just farm land and cultivated forests for lumber, no wild forests.
Hunting is very restricted and just exists to keep the deer population in check because they would destroy the forests, because they dont have any natural predators.

But we tow quite a lot, we just mostly use cars for this. Pickups are not really a thing here, only larpers buy them.
>>
>>28683440
most small commercial towing is done with pic rel
They essentially are pickups, they are just not fancy at all.
then we have semis for the big stuff, there is barely anything in between because they dont dick around with anything midsized.
>>
I drive a 1990 LN106 Toyota Hilux and the towbar is rated to 1800KG/ 3968lbs. I still wouldn't tow with it because the transmission is weak as fuck and the car struggles to reach the speed limit unloaded.
>>
>>28683445
>f, there is barely anything in between because they dont dick around with anything midsized.
because regardless of the size of towing vehicle the biggest load you can tow is 3500kg

only "real trucks" are allowed to tow heavier trailers.

any trailer above a gross weight of 3500kg requires air brakes, more than just a regular driving license etc
going through all that is just not worth it when you can load just a little more

most actual mid sized trucks are special vehicles or are used for last mile delivery
but 99% of trucks are either full size semis or dump trucks

It's the same with large trucks. American ones are louder, drivers are overly proud, aggressive looks etc. but in reality European trucks can tow more, have more horsepower on the wheels, better drivers, better interior and exterior, more features, better quality and with all of this, still better fuel efficiency, quieter, faster speeds and acceleration etc. US trucks are like obese American police with low self-esteem being aggressive and insulting you, but his American made gun jams, and he falls over when starting to run and is out of breath. While that insulted European runs 20 m to get away from him.

For some reason these truck obsessed Americans always end saying how they are white and then we se he is mixed/brown/black. Every time. They are not mad because we are insulting them. They are mad because they know how shit everything in America is and they can't do anything. When statistics show that US is worse than third world countries like Africa and India in every metric, they can't do anything else than accept the fact.
>>
>>28683648
I forgot the European trucks do all of that while being smaller and having more storage space, those have better brakes and safety features also. Even the manual transmission on the old ones are so much smoother and better quality. Better lights, and list goes on.

There is a reason why every American truck lover switches to European trucks immediately when they do one test drive.
>>
>>28683648

Tilt cab trucks are a fucking joke.
You do realize there are daily maintenance checks, right?
You have to tilt the cab at the beginning and end of every shift.
>oops, forgot about my coffee cup, thats another $1,200 for a windshield...
The beds in your sleeper cabs are 18 inches wide. Drivers are crammed in there like lab rats. Although you have mostly pajeet drivers so they think theyre in heaven.
>that mechanic that refused to work on the driveline because some street shitter cut a hole in the bottom of the cab and was shitting on the transmission for a year...

Euro trucks are designed by government regulatory committee. They suck.
Meanwhile, in 'Merica....
>>
This has been explained a million times, but I'll do it again. European trailers are built differently from American ones. Notice how the ones in the pics in this thread have their wheels dead center along the length of the trailer, this is to put more of the weight behind the axles, which means low tongue weight so lighter-duty vehicles can haul the same load. The downside is that they're much less stable at high speed. This, along with being towed by vehicles with weak brakes and limited engine braking, is why towing speed limits are lower across Europe and why many roads don't allow trailers at all. (Especially mountains etc.)

That's not an option in the US. People need to tow long distance through areas where highways with fast-moving traffic are the only route, as well as across mountains on twisty steep roads etc. This means our trailers are built for stability and our vehicles are rated for towing at high speeds and in difficult conditions.
