Last month, After I totaled my Toyota corolla via a flat rear tire I went to a dealership and spent $19,000 of my savings and settlement money on a 2019 SXT Dodge Charger with a salvage title because I thought it looked cool. I've had it for about a month but i couldn't shake the feeling there was something wrong with this thing. Decided to take it to a dodge center and low in behold it's got a ton of fucking problems that made it through the dealerships standard. Now I dont know what to fucking do. Don't even want drive it. The cost of the repairs is more than the damn thing is worth. My homies tell me that the dodge center is just trying to fleece me on bullshit repairs but I dunno. Should I tow it back home and try to sell it or trade it? Should I pay for the minimal required repairs like front and rear brakes (it'll cost about 2k). Guys im scared I dont know what to do. If managed to sell it I could finance a better vehicle. God help me!!!

>he fell for the v6 chally meme
bait aside uunironically this all is about $500 on rockauto and can be done in an afternoon in your driveway >t. Just did this on my police auction charger
lemon law, or something.
>>28682741>cabin air filter dirty>needs immediate attentionunsafe to drive better hand over wallet and bend over
>>28682726>2019 SXT Dodge Charger with a salvage titlelmao you can get a clean title mint one for like $15k
UK so I don't know the going rate for a lot of that work but it's seems mad expensive to me. This is like sub $1k in parts/fluids. If you drove the car there can you not drive it back? Sort in this order if this isn't a copy pasta I haven't seen. Brakes if they're genuinely dire. Rust doesn't matter that much for now, thickness and pad material does.Get an independent shop to sort the sway bar, bushing, control arm, motor mount issues. Guessing one/most of those issues are why you had an off feeling about the car.Run a can of Seafoam though the intake if the throttle feels shitty/car has over 80k milesChange your air filterAlignment + tyres
>totals a car from a fucking flat tire lmaoo >then pisses all money away on salvage title v6 chargerBased retard, stay broke.
>>28682726That's just basic maintenance items. But if you can't do the work, good luck.Might be able to return the car. Some states and countries have laws on that kind of stuff
they want you to replace most of the suspension because it’s old, tires, and brakes. Doesn’t mean they are bad yet. These are standard prices, and bear in mind most of the cost here is labor, but a significant part of the cost is marked up oem parts prices. Good tires are 800-1000 for 4, brakes are probably 500-600 on average for all pads/rotors, all the suspension crap is going to be around 1-1.5k unless you buy bottom of the barrel parts from rockauto. If you can wrench you’ll be fine, if not - don’t bother doing any of this stuff until brakes squeal or the pedal gets soft, then only do pads and flush brake fluid. Your car is perfectly driveable.
>>28682739>rotors are rusty = $2200this one is so stupid that I doubt the rest.
>>28682726Lol v6
>>28682726>After I totaled my Toyota corolla via a flat rear tireWhat?
Oh no no no no challywallyxisters don't look
>>28682726That's insane. I got my 2011 LS 460 for 13k back in 2023. Why the fuck would you spend 19k on a non R/T Charger?
>>28682726This is how you start to learn how to wrench.Brake jobs, end link bushings are easy repairs. Buy some tools, find a garage, and figure this shit out.ball joints and bad engine mounts is what would cause the shaking. you can still drive the car fine with that.post pic of car and all the components mentioned.how good are you with tools? where do you live?
>>28682735How the fuck does it cost $560 to replace sway bar bushings? They cost $5-$15 each and it is two bolts on each one to remove. It should take a tech like 15-20 minutes to replace them.
don't take your car to get repaired at the dealership lmao they are going to hose you
i literally just did all this shit on my challly wally for about $500sucks to suck lmaothings you don't need:>diff flush the stock v6 charger has an open diff so if there is grease in there at all you're good>cabin air filtervery easy to do yourself, accessible thru the removable door in the passenger side of the windshield cowl>intake cleaningthe pentastar has no EGR and is port injected, so the intake should be clean unless where you drive it is very dirty anyway. the throttle body can be cleaned by hand.stuff you can do cheaper and get away with it:>brakes>tiresstuff you definitely want a shop to do>alignment>balljoints/bushings
>>28682978also as one poster said the sway bar bushings are easy peasy but if they're already in there replacing all your other links you might as well get those too
>>28682982I think he means the control arm bushings, but you definitely want to take your car to a place to get your tires installed and balanced. I don't think dealerships can even (legally) sell a car with tires that are that too worn outOP most of that stuff you can do with hand tools and some jackstands, which wouldn't cost too much at autozone
>>28682726Post hand
>>28682978>stuff you definitely want a shop to do>alignment>balljoints/bushingsYou can slap some new control arms on in your driveway no problem. Whole new arms are still cheaper than paying a shop to press in fresh bushings
>>28682726So... Let me get this straight...> Salvage Title Dodge Challenger - $19000> Lower Control Arms bushings worn - 1586.62> Stablizer bar worn w/ play - 560.98> front struts worn - 1074.10> upper control arms worn - 1410.11> upper knuckle balljoints - 1337.50> Brake fluid - 171.95> Fuel system flush + TB + decarbonization - $329.95> Rear diff service - 221.75> Front brakes - 1145.68> Rear brakes - 1051.26> Alignment - 229> Recall inflator - FREE> Tire inflation - FREE> Worn engine mounts - 1657.55> Cabin air filter - $69.95> Tire replacement - 557.22> Underbody shielding - 1578.92?I do not envy you. I sincerely recommend you learn how to do your own work. Start with the air filter, it will take you two minutes if the $70 price tag is anything to go by.
This is why you get an inspection *before* you buy the car.
>>28683031yes but the front and rear tie rods will need to be aligned afterwards plus tires need doing, and while hand alignment is very easy on the LX body (factory adjustment is toe only) I assume OP does not actually want to get his hands too dirty and doesn't have the equipment to get safely under the car. everything else can be done by the owner really easily. one of the most pleasant, easy to maintain, and logically assembled cars i have ever worked on.
>>28683077>rear tie rodsyou've never worked on a car have you?
>>28682726>Salvage title at DealershipDealerships don't sell salvage title cars you lying sperg shitposter. What is this board becoming.
>>28683093the LX body has a rear multilink and the toe is in fact controlled by tie rods mounted on elliptical bolts
>>28682726The ball joints aren't included with the control arms? lmao I would double check thatTake it to a non-stealership shop I guess, and pass on the cabin filter and injector cleaner
>>28683169you can just unscrew the ball joint elbow from the front tie rods and replace that part without removing the inner tie rod at all.
>>28682726Ok, and it didn't even have a 30 day warranty or what..
>>28683185He's lying, dealerships don't sell salvage vehicles.
>>28683188>>28683120retard
>>28683197Mega sperg, how bored are you? Also did you sell the ram?
>>28683188they most certainly do, especially the ones that are selling a charger to OP
I was going to believe this post but the "totaled my corolla via flat rear tire" makes no sense
>>28683273I was driving at 80mph on I-10 when my tired popped because I neglected it for a year even when the tire lights came on, I just kept refilling it rather than inspecting it for wear and bred. I then swerved off the road and into a ditch totalling my car.
>>28682726>low in behold it's got a ton of fucking problems that made it through the dealerships standard>a ton of fucking problems that made it through the dealerships standard>made it through the dealerships standard>dealerships standardlmao
>>28683279If your story is true i legitimately feel bad for you, like this is 85 IQ behavior bro If you plan to sell it don't do any repairs. If you don't plan to sell it, repair as much as you want so that it's not a safety issue. Don't do repairs and then sell it. The increased value on the car is almost never going to be the cost of repairs. Do all the suspension parts + brake + tires, you need those.

>>28683636op is just making shit up, there's no way in the us you could get financing for an uninsurable car.https://aistudio.google.com/apps/drive/1nQls5Q74xFZk2UWxkomGM1YC7zl38jHH?shartytroons made a shitpost bot so it's probably that
>>28683169The upper control arm & tension strut (sometimes referred to as the lower forward control arm) do include new ball joints but the actual lower control arm (sometimes referred to as the lower rearward control arm) ball joint is pressed into the steering knuckle.

>>28682751slightly exaggerated, but you can 100% repair all this shit for under 2k, even with some labour charges. pay for the alignment, the brake fluid since i assume no friends, and maybe control arms if you're a pussy. I've replaced all of these parts (never needed an injector flush or w/e) myself over the lifespan of two shitboxes
>>28684361ACTUALLY they are all W210 Mercs
>>28682726Sounds like bullshit take it to another (non dealer) auto mechanic
i'm so glad i grew up wrenching with my dad so i never had to deal with some shit repair shop
>>28684556my dad never really did much beyond basic maintenance. if anything i'm glad the internet makes it insanely easy comparatively speaking to get access to torque specs, factory manuals, parts etc.must've been annoying as fuck before that, especially for obscure shit
>>28682726>he boughted itlmao
>>28682726So you're in UK? If so, you can go to an MOT station and get all of that checked again to confirm what's really needed. And yes, those prices that 'le dodge center' gave you are like 10x of what they should be. They smelled the stupid in you. Fuel injector flushing is made up, a placebo; but you can DIY with $10 bottle of w/e shit they have at a gas station. And don't skimp on tires and alignment.P.S. I was expecting a partial engine rebuilt from the title of your thread. But all of this is normal consumables so you can't sue the dealership, as you shouldn't be. I'd be pretty fucking pissed if some bloke tried to return me a used car because of tires or brake pads. It should be illegal to be autistic with IQ below 130.
Yeah they’re just trying to fleece you. You could probably get all this done at an independent shop for <$5k. Most of this shit isn’t hard and could be done much cheaper yourself.Brakes are very easy and brake fluid can be done by yourself if you buy one of those brake bleeder kits for $15. Hell you could just turkey baste the reservoir if you want to be lazy.Control arms can sometimes be a bitch if they’re rusty and sometimes they’re hard to line up, but overall they not that bad. Ball joints are easy if you have a ball joint separator (like $30).I highly doubt the sway bar bushings actually need to be done and same with the shocks. But obviously I haven’t seen the car, I’m just going off age.Cabin air filter literally takes 10 min, including watching the YouTube video on how to do it.I’d assume they’re right about the tires, but check yourself just to be sure.TL:DRDo the brakes and cabin air filter yourself. If you wanna be lazy pay an independent to do the suspension stuff.>>28684378You can do brake fluid by yourself with one of thise $15 brake bleeder kits from any auto parts store. I’ve never had a problem with them.
>>28682726>lo and beholdFtfyFront and rear brakes should be about $100-$125 per corner in parts. $2k sounds like a lot. Usually dealers sell an out-of-warranty vehicle car with a 90 day dealership warranty.
did I miss anything?here's a parts list from rock auto, maybe add an extra 250 for all the fluids and hardwareso I guess the dealer wants to charge you about 17,000 in labormaybe try somewhere else
>>28685644need the torque struts aka front lower rearward control arm (need 2, same part each side) and their associated ball joints (also need 2, one per side). That is to replace the ball joint pressed into the steering knuckle which the torque struts attach too.
>>28684322Bait stellantis is euro
>>28685644Can save even more money with just the strut easy to pull em off springs.
>>28683093have you?
>>28685616yeah I always forget about those brake bleeders. I know a few people that'll do it for the same help in return another day >>28685644>>28685699motor mounts, splash guard, and tires too
>>28685757>splash guardI promise you don't need those. I doubt you need motor mounts either, and I certainly wouldn't trust the scam shop's opinion on if you need new tires. Look at your tread wear and tread depth. If wear is even and the tread touches or covers the top of Abraham Lincoln's head you don't need new tires.
>>28682726>My homies
This is some good bait. Just went down to the firestone and they "looked it over" for free after changing your tires, huh?
