>lost it's car industry and is turning into a service based economy with money from the government. We don't make anything anymore, just sell it all to ChinaAussies, what went wrong here?
Pozzies can't drive so no wonder they have no cars.
Conservative government for 80% of the last 100 years.
>>28683549So 20 years of leftist leadership is too much. Noted.
>>28683553
jews, the answer is always jews
>>28683531Our car industry devolved into 2 US puppet companies making sedans that nobody wanted was the entire reason. Everyone loves to praise Falcs and Commos for their ability to meet what an "enthusiast" wants on a spec sheet and that is it. Mass consumers could not care about them, in what world would they want cars with terrible efficiency, no hybrid technology (lol if you bring up the volt), ugly af interiors, no safety innovations and a stereotype of being driven by absolute subhumans. There was just no reason for average consumers ie the people that actually make companies money would ever logically choose either brand. It's not even like the rest of the brands' range was anything to write home about either, just about every other Holden was plagued with reliability concerns (Captiva + Cruze) and our ford had jumped the SUV trend too early and made no effort to catch the Hatchback trend of the 2000s/2010s. If you want to make the arguments that it was because GM was purely keeping Holden afloat with government handouts I believe that is a valid argument. The second Ford knew Holden was dead they pulled the plug because they knew having Ford Aus exist and drain more cash when it could all be killed and relegated to just a dealer network was just too much of a good business move.Tldr. Average Joe would never buy one using a spec sheet, bogans and /o/ artists cannot carry brands that never innovated beyond "put a bigger V8 in".
>>28683619>bogans and /o/ artists cannot carry brands that never innovated beyond "put a bigger V8 in".this is what killed it in the us that market is sustained by the v6 and i4 versions of what are otherwise v8 sports cars, they sell in such massive volumes they prop up the high end models. aussies even now poopoo modern v6s despite the fact a Camaro with a GM HF V6 makes more power than anything they shat out during the glory daysyou can at least say AUGM did one thing right and it was helping develop the Zeta and Alpha platforms which are now the basis of one of the finest sports cars the world has ever seen.
>>28683656>you can at least say AUGM did one thing right and it was helping develop the Zeta and Alpha platformsOoo can you explain this? Despite calling myself a "car fan" I really dgaf bout US or AU cars (just not a fan of where V8s and 0-100 times is all they boast, it's just not my style) but the engineering connection sounds interesting
>>28683672the 5th and 6th gen camaro and the cadillac cts are both ultimately based on the platforms of the last-gen commodores which we also got as the chevy ss, the pontiac g8, and gto, so in a sense the aussie spirit still lives on in these cars https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Motors_Zeta_platformhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Motors_Alpha_platform
>>28683531Cool and all but then they just let the service and tech economy go to shit too. Male dominated industry too, ughh another dirty polluting industry closed.>>28683619Not like the Hyundai shitters we drive now are any better
>>28683531Imagine if they nationalised all the primary resources and precious metals and then invested that export money into teaching aussie workers how to process, refine, smelter and actually build shit with those resources right here at home. Prioritise affordable energy over chasing ‘net zero’ and then backed the aussie dollar with our abundant gold and silver deposits to curb inflation.
>>28683531U can still buy the old ones anon. Nu cars are bad anyways. Pick u up a BA falcoon and let her rip.
>>28683619didnt commos at least have a long waiting list of preorders?
>>28683619>in what world would they want cars with terrible efficiencyevery 3rd falcodore wouldn't have been a taxi if they were unaffordable to run>no hybrid technology who cares? pointless, complicated, gay shit>ugly af interiorssubjective>no safety innovations unnecessary. had the basics which is all you need. be a good driver and don't crash>stereotype of being driven by absolute subhumansAustralians?
>>28683619Toyota was the only one that should have stayed as it was the only one that was profitable, both GM and Ford are run by jew burgers that sent government investment bucks straight home to the US without improving their lines here Both are cunts and should have been thrown in a hole 10 years ago anyway.
>>28683619Falcon and Commodore sales weren't bad. People act like they were selling 3000 units a year or something and that no one wanted them, that wasn't the case at all. Sure the Camry sold more but it was also cheaper. If production of the Falcon and Commodore would have been cheaper they would have been able to sell a lot more.
>>28683531>>28683553>Aussies, what went wrong here? You need protectionism for your free market if you wish to have a free market at all. Cons all over the world scream "COMMUNISM!!!!" if you as much as prevent an obvious shell company from buying up all of your industry, but you need someone who has the authority to simply rip the infinite foreign money out and say "No".The Aussie car industry was extremely strong for the better part of 100 years, and it makes sense why. Shipping cars to Australia takes money, Australia has the industry already to make cars on their own, their market and its needs isn't the market and the needs of the rest of the Colonies, and shares more in common with America's car market. It made perfect sense to buy supply lines and licenses from American car companies and make them domestically. And then use this as a springboard to make your own car lines which would stimulate the economy and create cheap at-home car marketSo of course government interests see this and they think "We can destroy this using foreign spending and sell off the scraps". So first Cons appeal every single market regulation that keeps foreign businesses from buying their industries wholesale, this was in the 80s. Then they repeal every single domestic assistance program that keeps the cars price-competitive with cars from overseas. Then, when all of Australia became 2 American car manufacturers, the Libs came into power and instituted every cuck European-style emissions standard in the book. This effectively took the Australian car industry out back and shot it, since there was no domestic factory that could meet those standards cheaply. Then bankers bought the scraps and sold what remained to China. Ain't the "Free market" grand?Notice how even though the Cons and Libs pretend to disagree on everything, they still managed to agree wholesale on killing the 100 year old Australian car industry in only 30 years? Almost like there is no difference at all.
>>28684873That was NOT the image I meant to post. >>28684869The sales were well worth it considering the price of the vehicles and what it cost to make. It's like comparing wal-mart to your local mom and pop shop. The wal-mart can only exist in an economy of scale where multiple government prop them up. Your local mom and pop shop has to work with the cards they have. That's why it was worth keeping it alive. now that the mom and pop shop is gone, Australia is at the mercy of American and European interests who do not give a single fuck at all the cars they sell match Australian interests or tastes. They know the place is a prison, and they know that they can now sell any massive urban tank or retarded egg-shaped wagie cagie for prices that dwarf the old holdens and Aussiecucks will just have to seethe about it and go into debt to buy one. And if they protest, the massive government will just arrest them, just like they're doing now.
>>28683549This. They aren't even socially conservative though desu.
>>28683757Hello labor
80% of Australia's demographic is brown now thanx to post-WWII immigration and brown people don't care about "Australian" branded cars.
>>28684876The fact that comically oversized amerslop is starting to take hold here is honestly so depressing.
>>28683619>Average Joe would never buy oneBecause average Joe is now Mohammed and he drives a Camry.
>>28684873>pic>they replaced 'class war' with 'race war'Who is "they"?
>>28684884There are barely any camrys on the road
>>28684890you must live in the outback of you can't seen any camrys because everywhere in my city. driven by either jeets or very old boomers.
>>28684879I don't think there's any real definition of conservative here in Australia, its not like they US were they become all tribal, bible whackers and only support one party as we've typically had a fairly broad middle-range of politics without wandering off into the weeds of the extreme left and right. Mostly tend to fall into the 'fit in or fuck off' kind of mentality which isn't a bad thing really as the last thing we need is someone else popping up an ethnic tribal group in an otherwise relatively civilised society with european underpinnings.>>28684883Our inability to handle anything more complicated than a tricycle is also a bit of a worry since no cunt can stop looking at phones or focus on anything much longer than 5minutes
>>28684883i have to admit those rams sound really good. but goddamn our roads and parking spaces really highlight just how gigantic they are lol. also a shame that almost everyone that drives them is a total fuckwit
>>28684898Don't think I've seen anyone taller than 5'8" get out of one eitherThink the idea of them dims also when you have to load toolboxes and anything else into the back of them at chest height becomes a complete and utter pain in the dick
>>28684896I live in sydney.Everyone drives a crossover, suv or ute.
>>28684898Honestly the rams are starting to look reasonably sized to me compared to the other shit they're coming out with that's even more comical.
>>28683553and it only took 20 years for leftists to set up concentration camps and make it illegal to have a negative opinion of them.
>>28684949>Yfw you find out your "concentration camps" were set up under a right wing government
>>28685077>>Yfw>there is no facelefties can't greentext
>>28683531Who honestly gives a fuck when car enthusiasm is illegal in cuckstralia. You can rape or kill but a modified car or little skid is all that is actually severely punished/enforced, with the thunderous applause of 99.99% of cuckstralian society
>>28684897> its not like they US were they become all tribal, bible whackersummm, sweaty...
>>28685171How did that work out for Morrison?Probably one of the most vicious standing prime minister defeats and one of the worst Lib-Nat defeats until they tried to pretend Dutton wasn't a complete fucking potato and got whipped like lazy niggers. I still stand by the fact conservatism in Australia is a dogs breakfast full of people looking for some kind of popularist grift or confused cunts pretending to be hardcore on social media for likes and subscribes. Most of them don't go to churches, very few of them practice a life which could be described as 'civic minded' and most of them have a laundry basket of some really stinky behaviour.I mean our left is just as much of a shambles of shrieking memes but at least we finally managed to take the Greens out the back of the shed and put them down so they won't bother inner city wine merchants and koala's nearly as much
>>28683619this plus the removal of subsidies and tariffs on foreign imports. Now we probably have more choices on cars than any other market in the world. Cars are still super expensive lmao
>>28684898its actually insane how huge they are. I do not know how anyone can drive those without having a constant heart attack. Its a shame because its gonna cost more to maintain the roads with those huge trucks driving around for school pickup. Honestly rego should be based on weight
>>28684949>>28685077Tf are you cunts on about. What concentration camps? Go outside and fly a kite or something.
>>28686103 I work in asphalt QA and its pretty crazy what effect having even a small stream of trucks on a road will have.
>>28683531>service based economywhy do all westoid cunts want to become this?
>>28687168easier to give the proles the dole than to pay them a stupidly high minimum wage
>>28687168Some mind virus that made them forget classical economics
>>28683656>Zeta and Alpha platforms which are now the basis of one of the finest sports cars the world has ever seen.Oh neat, a sports car! What car?
>>28683531>Aussies, what went wrong here?getting independence from Britain that what went wrong
