Light car, means you can get away without power braking. 200x or 300x brake force can sometimes be enough(20cm travel to 1mm caliper travel)ABS is really nice. Nothing like skidding because the wheels locks, and then you swerve into a tree or off the road.Wheel steering came after direct drive, where direct drive is almost like using a bike handle. Wheel work as a force multiplier. The problem is that a heavier and faster vehicle is harder to drive, the other problem is that feedback is still feedback. You can also drive a car with computer assisted power braking with barely being able to reach the pedals, where no assistance forces you to maybe put your entire body weight on the foot in mid case scenario.
Our savior, the miata, still weighs 2,366 lbs in current year and passes safety regs.
