Škoda Typ 742 GLS, A series.M series albeit getting some improvements here and there like a 5 speed transmission and later on fuel injection had worse build quality, weaker rust protection, the rack and pinion steering is much lighter, which doesn't really help in a car that already has a tendency to wander about on the road.The semi trailing arm suspension of the M series is nice compared to the older swinger rear end in the A series, but otherwise the A is just better.
