In my opinion and experience, 90% of straight piped cars sound like shit. Yes they’re loud, obnoxiously so, but it’s just noise. You usually get loads of unpleasant drone and rasp because there is essentially no system. You’re also leaving performance on the table by fucking with the systems resonance and pulse timing. A properly engineered aftermarket exhaust system will always beat taking the easy and cheap way out by having the muffler shop go to town with a sawzall and exhaust clamps.

Wrong term, you don't want any back pressure. The term you're looking for is exhaust velocity. What you don't want is an exhaust that is too big as it will slow down the exhaust pulses. But that won't happen just straight piping your car with factory diameter piping.
