Is the Audi 4.2L V8 one of the greatest NA engines of all time?
no
Probably, I like the original 4.2, it was a very sturdy and smooth engine. Simple to work on too.I'd still maybe take a BMW M60B40 over it, but it's a close second.
>>28686663No.
>>28686666>M60>when the M52 exists
>>28686670>M52>When M50 exists>M50>When M30 existsBut the M52 isn't a V8 now is it? I was talking about V8 motors like was the OP.Look at the thread title, "Greatest NA V8 motor?"
>>28686663Not even close
>>28686663>germshit
>>28686663lol fuck no. It's the LS.t.europeon
>>28686663"greatest na v8"
>>28686663The Neckersulm ones yes.
>>28686663LS
>>28686666M60s are turds. I mean, yeah, it's a V8, but it's unimpressive in every other way. 282hp from a 4L is yawn-inspiring, it's less specific power than an M42 which is basically an economy engine and only slightly more specific torque. They're a dead end NA too, I don't think I've ever seen someone make more than 300whp with an NA M60 build.
>>28686663>cokes ur valves up
LS or Rover V8 if you’re a europeon
>>28686663Clarkson considers it one of his top 3 engines of all time. However, timing chains lmao, and the LS exists.
You're all faggots and wrong.
>>28686850>best>basically a prototype and never made it into a production car
>>28686859nta but I'm fairly sure the ohc ford big blocks made it to production. You're thinking of the hemi
>>28686663Nobody gives a shit about eurofag v8s or v8s in general less than 5 liters. Why would you even bother?
>>28686850>A challenger appears
>>28686869you rang?
>>28686862They didn't. They were used in racing and made it into a few prototype production/showroom cars, but nothing road legal with a vin ever came out of a Ford factory with a 427 cammer.I agree it is an incredible engine, and its unfortunate it was so good it generated an instant lobbying effort to ban it from racing, but its hard to claim its the best when they effectively dont exist anymore. Meanwhile literal millions of GM LS engines are still on the road and in active production, which trace their lineage to the same time period.
>>28686872>effectively dont exist anymore. The good news is that there are several guys that make parts so you can buy a complete, new 427 SOHC these days. But as I'm sure you already know: $$$$$
