Any Armored Personnel Carrier should be fine
>>
my silverado would, because i'd just chuck it off the road and avoid it entirely then casually get back on the road and continue on my way.
>>
>>28686973
Looking at the sides of the road, pretty much any car would be able to do that without suffering any damage.
Maybe the tires would kick up some gravel or the front lip would get slightly scuffed, but that's expected wear
>>
>>28686977
nah you can't tell from this angle. there's probably a ditch on the opposite side which is the one you'd end up yeeting yourself off of. enough to deploy airbags at worst, get you stuck at best.
>>
Why is seemingly every professional driver a drooling room tempertaure IQ moron.
If someone does something for a living they're usually decent at that task.
Yet I constantly see truck drivers being the opposite of it, risking the their life and the life of everyone within a half mile radius from them just to save a few seconds of time

What makes this profession such a magnet for retards?

The only skill you need is the ability to pass a driving test - a test that is done in ideal conditions - and not be a wanted criminal. A lot of truck drivers in this country got their license for free while in the army, which is even less relevant to real world road conditions. Bare in mind van and taxi drivers are people who could not pass this test.

Trucker here and 1m safe miles

It's got a very low barrier of entry now that all trucks practically drive themselves. Automatic transmissions, nanny tech and more radars than most fighter jets have made it to where literally all you have to do is hold the wheel all day and not hit anything.

The problem is now that all of the idiot filters have been removed and any schmuck with a pulse can get behind the wheel which is why things like this are commonplace now. We had some Somali peanut head who got pulled in for a drug test at the company I haul for and he handed our security guy a piss bottle because he thought the difference between a drug screen and a drug test was what you piss in.

The other problem is that companies have been pushing rates down by hiring cheap migrant labor and skirting every labor law they can which pushes out experienced guys like me who won't haul that cheap shit and most of the old guard left and either worked local or just straight retired and quit trucking altogether. I'm working on getting out now, I make less than I made when I started 11 years ago and that doesn't factor inflation, the actual rate per mile has been lower since I was a greenhorn.
>>
Normgroids are so dumb. All they can think to do is stand on the brake. I would have been in that ditch. I've been blown off the road or forced to swerve into the ditch off the highway a number of times and ditches like that are designed to have traffic run off onto them.

NTA, but I'd still take my chance with the gully, than an out of control semi's flailing trailer. Worst that can happen is ending upside down, and bonking your head on the roof as you slip out of the belt.

>>
>>28688248
It would probably drive right into it.

FSD isn’t very smart and it ignores a lot of “out of the ordinary” conclusions to avoid false positives. You wouldn’t want it slamming on the brakes going around a highway curve because it mistook something on the side of the road for a stopped car, so it just… ignores it.

It’s not going to be able to identify a wall of truck heading towards it as anything that it should do anything about.
>>
>>28687129
This is the point where I would react and steer my vehicle to the right and off the road. It doesn't look like a "20 foot cliff" to me.

How do you even do that on a straight, empty road?

No passenger vehicle can survive an underride crash like that. That is just being Final Destination'd.
>>
>>28688276
I would rather deal with the occasional false positive than have my collision detection ignore a fucking semi trailer across the road. Granted, it would probably still only react the way this car did

Looks like the hill curves down in such a way that it unloaded the rear wheels just enough that they lost traction and the trailer started to swing forwards while the truck was trying to brake.

Looks like just too fast for the conditions to me.

What most never think about, and that includes truck drivers, is that the tire sizes and inflation are specced for a loaded truck. In the US the common interstate load is 80,000 lbs (that being the federal minimum maximum that most states adopted as their maximum). So 40 tons. Such a truck unloaded will be in the 14 ton range (@10 tons tractor and 4 tons basic-bitch trailer. So now you've got all this tire area but it's lightly loaded so the ground pressure is low, probably lower than a car's, which make it very easy to lose grip in poor weather condition. Further, Euros use super singles and those are known to be terrible with grip in adverse conditions which is one reason, among many, that independents refuse to use them.

Factor in too that, as previously noted, everything has been driving out experienced drivers in favor of idiots that work cheap and you get a guy that's pushing it with a "light" truck in the rain and somebody (probably) dies.
>>
>>28688613

you poor poor wagecuck. Everything you enjoy in this world is currently being run and maintained by drooling idiots. You, likely are also a drooling idiot who just doesn't realize it. High intelligence doesn't determine what you do for a living, it only changes how safe and successful at it you are.

nah, the driver was clearly distracted and crossed into the oncoming lane then panic over corrected causing the slide. You can see at the very start of the vid he drifted then the sharp panic cut back.
