I think cars are bloated for safety standards, not CAFE/CARB. My 94 Ford has only 1 airbag, but my other newer cars have airbags everywhere. You need physical space for curtain air bags. Then you're also designing the body to redirect all crumple forces away from the occupants. Still, CAFE and CARB should be deleted.
