I dont like it
>>
I like it and hope they'll have success with it.
I want a shift towards incredibly simple and maintainable cars again. FUCK overly complex fag club looking interior luxury shits that last 3 years and everyone leases.
>>
Wouldn't be legal in Europe due to safety standards.
>>
i kind of like it, but there's a few major downsides. first vehicle from a new company means it's probably going to be a little janky. it competes with the ford maverick and the upcoming toyota mini truck. it's a tough sell and it will likely fail.
>>
>>28689286
i feel like the auto industry has been around long enough to copy pasta a bare bones truck at a price that gives it value in the market without running into any issues other then ones purely manufactured by competition
that said they could just absolutely fail at marketing giving no wind to there sail
>>
>>28689225
I am seriously considering getting one
only things I don't like about it is the lack of power, as that seems to be one of EV's selling points and that the base configuration is a little too spartan for my tastes.
But I can fix that.
>>
>>28689225
Could be a good 'expendable' vehicle for some scenarios where you want them en massed to keep a route running
I'd have to compare it to other options out there for easily amassable trucks
>>
>>28689225
The sheer amount of hype it has will convince other manufacturers to make a copy of it, hopefully with a proper gas engine.

But it goes to show how many people want small, utilitarian, and modular/convertible. Something like 150k reservation deposits. They aren't even going to be able to fill all those for years.
>>
>>28689225
I like the concept but if it costs 30k for the cheapest base model, it's gonna be DoA outside of preorders and any company or person who's not explicitly looking for an EV utility vehicle. When the EV credits were in place though, it made a really good value proposition at 20k or even 25k, but 30k+ is in the territory of more capable Nissan frontiers and Ford Mavericks respectively.
>>28689337
Same here, i didn't preorder but if it gets to market and sells well enough, I'd consider picking one up used as my first EV to replace my aging frontier a few years from now. I just use my truck to haul my ATV to a couple local parks and furniture occasionally, this truck is fine for those tasks while being cheaper to maintain, and I think id be more entertained by the driving dynamics of an EV over some autotragic truck.
>>
>>28689786
Yeah hoping the electric credits stick around
If they can't keep the price down I don't think anyone is going to choose something this bare for 25, much less 30k. There are just far better options at the price point.

>Honest Opionons Only
Shilled to be some DIY right to repair utopian dream
All it means is you can 3d print the bezels a different color
Oh yeah, it also has cutting edge transformer technology that allows it to change from suv to truck just like the 4runner did in the 1980's. So modern. Breathtaking.
>>
>>28689225
I've always wanted to see a vehicle like this, but now that it got made, I don't like it much. It's too modular and not technically impressive. The marketing is bad. It shouldn't be called Slate. It's leaning too far into being the first truly modular car. Make it a good, rugged, well-built vehicle first and foremost. The modularity can be an afterthought.
>>
>>28690312
>It's too modular and not technically impressive
How are either of those a bad thing? Modularity makes maintence easier and "technically impressive" is a very retarded metric to gauge a barebones shitbox. Reliability and modularity aren't mutually exclusive.
>>
Hate that it's electric but maybe if they can show there's a market somebody will make a cheap modular truck with an ice engine. If somebody could make something like the amc jeeps with a 2.5 4 cylinder or 4.0 6 cylinder option pickup for under 20k without good goy credits that would be amazing

Telo is going to be better.
>>
>>28689225
They should just make an actual good performing practical truck instead of purposely making a piece of shit.
>>
>>28689225
Real life range will be like 50 miles when the temperature ain't perfect and you have to run AC/heat/etc.

For minimalist get-around I'd just get a Corolla with a mini trailer if needed. Base Corolla non-high-bird can be had for 20-22K before tax
>>
>>28689225
Why the shit is it electric?
>>
If this is the electric trugg thread then Alpha Motor's Wolf is vaporware, right?
>>
>>28693463
It makes my dick hard so that means it will never hit the market

Grim.

Turns out starting an auto manufacture from scratch is hard.
>>
>>28693445
This. Just put a little I4 and a manual transmission in it. It'll be cheaper and more maintainable.

FTFY

Holy shit these are beautiful. Finally a vehicle designed by men with testosterone above 900ng/dl.

right?!?!

this fucker right here looks like a god damn soccer mom van
like do people not know how to use fucking straps
>>
>>28689225
It's going to be way too expensive and it's going to fail.
>>
>>28689225
I love the concept of a bare bones modular vehicle that you can add to if you want to, I could care less about electric
>>
>>28689225
It's conceptually based and I hope it turns out to be a good product that succeeds.
>>
>>28694672
In what way does a simple cabover pickup configured as a work truck look like a soccer mom van? Only thing this has in common with a soccer mom van is that it can convert to seat up to 8 – which is good. Need to haul 4x8 sheets and gear? It can do that. Need to haul a crew? It can do that too.

It's what the future of light trucks should be; I just hope they actually drop and wish they did it with a range extender because I have extreme prepper tendencies.
>>
i like it
ev's suck ass tho
>>
>Too expensive
>Too Barebones for the price
>Shit milage
Good concept though. desu Just get a Maverick
>>
>>28689225
Judging from the marketing I think this will mainly be driven by trannies
>>
>>28695424
It's electric, you lost the frunk. Cabover is good for a gas engine. Not many are gonna buy that just because it looks gay. Gay looking vehicles are made by gay men for gay men and for women. Hate on the Slate but at least it doesn't look like a gay bubble, and the Alpha Motors look even more badass. Plus the convertible configuration is something the industry needs. Not many need a truck, the enclosed cabin space is more practical at times but why not be able to convert to a truck? The tech is there were just get cucked by the auto manufacturers putting out cheap half assed shit.

>hurr here's a new AIDS bubble

I don't fuckin want it, I won't fuckin buy it.

>Not many need a truck, the enclosed cabin space is more practical at times but why not be able to convert to a truck

Literally what are you talking about? Any truck can put a topper on the back and yeah, the Telo can run as a van with one on. This is also good.

>gay

"I need a vestigial fake motor enclosure sticking out in front making my driving worse because my dick doesn't stick out and I think the 1970s were the height of heterosexual masculinity"
>>
>>28695668
That gay hunk of shit isn't going to do well, sorry. The frunk is just extra secure cargo space since a truck has open space but not a lot of enclosed cargo space, also protects in a collision.
>>
>>28695668
>The frunk is just extra secure cargo space

Effectively it cuts cargo space versus a cabover design, because instead of having one large cargo area at the rear that can fit long objects and/or be expanded vertically with a topper, it lops the bed in half and sticks half of it in front where it can't be expanded upon.

>not a lot of enclosed cargo space

Who doesn't add toolboxes and/or a topper to their truck?

>also protects in a collision

The main guy behind Telo's background is literally in safety, and it's going to have a crunch zone built in there and meet the same standards as everything else. Meanwhile, the tighter footprint means you can see and maneuver better.
