What a waste of effort and money. Same mistake Toyota made.

Why is Cadillac even entering Formula 1?
>>
>>28690642
Bc the world associates the brand with hip hop
>>
>>28690642
i don't know. weren't they in LMP a few years back instead?
>>
>>28690642
I think it's pretty cool.
t: finn
>>
>>28690642
They want to clean up their brand and they think this will do it. Also most ICE racing won't be around in the 2030s so this is their last chance at improving their standing among motorsports enthusiasts.
>>
>>28690662
That didn't work with Alfa Romeo
>>
>>28690673
I know! They should go woke, that always works.
>>
>>28690673
Nu-alfas are selling pretty well in the states. I see a few almost every time I'm out.
>>
>>28690642
GM wants to put their luxury brand in front of the new money jet setting 20-30 somethings that are behind F1s current popularity boom. It's all a ploy to sell Escalades.
>>
>>28690635
Brand power I guess. It stirs discussion and kinda reminds me of that time Lotus had come back as a shadow of its past self just to job massively, was the talk of the season regardless, because Lotus has brand recognition.
>>
>>28690642
Drive to survive has made Americans care about f1
Ford is also entering with red bull as its engine supplier
>>
>>28690751
Ford also advocated for not adopting V10s for the next regulation set because they were already building tiny V6s.
>>
>>28690655
They still are (Hypercar).
>>
>>28690635
the realer waste of effort and money is still making crappy spyware-on-wheels tincan road cars, on an ethical basis funding motorsports is currently better than the entire road car business
>>
>>28690655
Yeah they have a god tier engine too
>>
>>28690655
Yeah they were. I think f1 is just a way to get an Andretti f1 team without it being called Andretti because a bunch of euro teams threw a hissy fit about Americans being too cool or prize money or something gay
>>
>>28690635
Cadillac is building an entire engine factory in America for F1. They are going beyond what Toyota did, who wasted tons of money but at least had their base of operations in Europe. The FIA will never allow an American brand to win, but gm claimed they were going to poach some top drivers. They won’t win, but they’ll get the publicity and marketing they want.
>>
>>28692194
Michael Andretti nearly bankrupted the operation due to wasting his shekels on retarded AI crap so it honestly wasn't a very trustworthy operation if I'm being honest but now being attached to a major manufacturer is kinda dumb to me and a huge show of the retarded OEM fetishism motorsport has now. I'm sorry but these OEMs will just leave the moment the going is even remotely tough while outfits like Minardi trucked along for 20 years

I can't wait to see the Euro Seething when the Caddy is in the mid field.

>Same mistake Toyota made.
I know a few current Formula 1 engineers and they told me Toyota over complicated their entire F1 car. If a bunch or Euros think your designs are over complicated, you've Fucked up.
>>
>>28692194
>threw a hissy fit
Did we ever get the reason why the Euros hate Andretti?
>>
>>28692399
they didnt overcomplicate the car or whatever, they overcomplicated the management process because toyota desperately wanted to run TMG(Toyota Motorsports GmbH) as if it was any other part of toyota, the issue with this was that when you have the fast development arms race that f1 is you end up getting delayed a lot because they had to talk to toyota management in japan about updates and so on
the same "retarded OEM thinks it knows better than the puny little race car manufacturers"
the same issue happened with stewart gp when it got bought out by ford and renamed to "jaguar", ford thought they knew best and forced every department to work on their own without much communication which meant the traditional F1 role of a "technical director" was more or less useless
>>
>>28692421
I didn't hear anything about their management style.
But the F1 engineers I know said the Toyota car was stupidly over complicated.
They said it had twice as many parts as it should have.

gimi
>>
>>28692540
IDEK where the fuck you heard that, the rules are pretty clear about those things
>>
>>28692421

Both Toyota and Ford management interfered into F1 team nonstop . Results were pretty clear .
Looks like Audi have learned from those mistakes . Will see if GM is stupid or not . Unlike Audi who overtakes existing team , GM begins from scratch . It's already hard to begin from scratch but it GM management keep interfering , Cadillac F1 entry would be one of biggest failures in entire history of motor sport .
>>
>>28693131
Cadillac is taking over Renault's engine development, so not entirely from scratch.
>>
>>28693131
>GM is stupid or not
gm could fuck up an orgy in a whore house, they'll fuck this up too. It will turn into a pr machine for the board members to act like socialites at the races
>>
>>28693356

if cadillac loses 2-3 sec per lap , GM board members will be laughing stock in every race
>>
>>28693104
Bruh are you retarded?
You can design something that has 2x the parts and still be compliment with the rules.
>>
>>28690642
GM are desperate to pump Cadillac's brand identity beyond retirees and rappers, they have spent at least 30 years trying and failing to convince yuppies that they're the American BMW
>>
>>28692408
it wasn't hatred of Andreotti specifically, F1 is just a Boy's Club for the ten extant teams and they didn't want anyone else muscling in. Cadillac managed to dangle enough money under their nose to get them to change their minds.
>>
>>28693131
Haas managed to hit the ground running when they joined a few years back.
