What's a good car under 10k with RWD and manual transmission?
>>
rough nb miat
>>
Ford Ranger
>>
sorry op to hijack but curious as to what options are there for
>rwd
>manual
>v8
>4 doors
>jap, or burger preferred but can do aussie, maybe even yuro
>older than year 2000
>can be efi or carby
>parts can be got from rockauto, fairly accessible engine bay/moderately easy to work on

s197 mustang.
>>
>>28691204
mazda rx8
>>
Bedford Rascal
>>
>>28691217
Pontiac G8 GXP
>>
NA/NB/NC1 Miata, RX8, S197 Mustang GT 3v, V6 Camaro 5th Gen, C4 Corvette maybe a rough early C5, clean new Edge GT 2v or okayish driver Mach 1/Cobra New Edge, LS1 GTO or 1st Gen CTSV, 13-16 BRZ/FRS

Anything will be 100k+ miles and will probably need at least $2000 in work (maybe not the Miata and Mustangs but def the GM cars)

128i is the answer.

10k + 2k yearly in repairs and maintenance, right?
not sure if you're in the US, but these older bmw's have been absolutely RUN THROUGH by retarded 20 yo cunty dipshits who beat the everliving fuck out of their cars and then try """MODDDING"""" them, avoid at all costs.
>inb4 wrenchlet
OP wants an affordable, good car. Suggesting a plastic maintenance nightmare is not what he's asking for, read between the lines.

Picrel is basically as cheap as you'll get. I've heard weird things about the chassis but the drivetrain is strong.
>>
>>28691204
Not OP but is it true that 4th gen camaros and transams have really awkward seating positions and terrible visibility?

the ford fairmont is the newest 4 door Ford im aware of that offered a manual, V8, RWD. they are basically 4door foxes. neither chevy nor dodge offered 4 doors in that mold.

IF you want to go back into the 70s basically every sedan could meet that mold. but most OEMs either went FWD, dropped manuals, or dropped V8s in their smaller sedans throughout the 80s. the boats almost always had automatics. performance cars typically had 2 doors, which rules out the camaro, thunderbird, etc

IF you want to get into imports you can get your hands on an early 00s AU falcon or holden commodore.

IF you want to get into swaps you can look at any RWD boat made by the big 3. caprice, impala, crown vic. but these were all auto from the factory

IF you want to go newer AND consider swaps then the Cadillac CTS, Dodge Charger, Chrysler 300, Pontiac G8, Chevrolet SS all become options.

tldr: American options are slim

Literally any of the cars mentioned here are 10+ years old and will need at least $1k in repairs per year.
The engine/drivetrain in the 128i is simple and bulletproof and at most you’ll have to change some coolant hoses and gaskets.
>>
>>28691945
ahhh, yeah my bad. My last car was a 135i, and that thing was anything but 'simple and bulletproof' -- which is why i traded it in for a mustang =P
I would say though one advantage of a domestic over a bmw in the US is parts, going to your local parts store vs FCPeuro.

Used 86 or miat?

they're newer than 2000 though. 2005 would be pushing it. im actually in aus but was interested in seeing if there were any old american cars that came with a manual - thought there might be a chance they got rhd versions so i could look that up.
i wouldn't mind an aussie car if it shared most parts with an american model, at least i could get really cheap parts off rockauto because despite the shipping, they can still be cheaper than buying locally.
>>
>>28692463
G8 GXP and SS is ridiculously expensive in manual. They have a unironic manual tax that makes them more expensive than even a nice low mileage E92 M3. For $10k all you're buying is a clapped G8 GT with the 6 speed auto that was at best a decent Charger R/T competitor.

Where do people come up with this shit?
>>
>>28693155
i should've mentioned that i'd also be happy to manual swap it too as long as parts like pedal brackets etc. were available to get. i don't have a welder or tools to fab up pedals and all that unfortunately
>>
>>28691703
00s mercs are trash
>>
>>28691723
No, biggest problem is that the car sits quite low.
Next biggest problem is that the factory seats are ass. However if you buy seats with aggressive bolsters, it will make getting in/out of the car very awkward because of how wide you have to open the (very long) door.

They drive german luxury cars.
