Okay, so the modding bug has finally bit me on my C5 Z06 and I want to add more power to the corvette. I'm currently looking at long tubes and an intake to get myself started, and I might do the heads and/or camshaft in the future.
Are there any anons here in the thread that can give me some recommendations on which headers/intake I should get? I'm currently looking at a vararam intake and ARH headers for the Corvette. Shipping is going to be a pain since I'm European but it is what it is. Any advice and personal experience is welcome.

Also Corvette thread I guess

How do you like it? They were comparable to the E46 M3 and 911 Turbo even brand new.

I personally hate how the C5 looks but a Z06 has enough changes I would consider one, supposedly it feels the most raw and direct of all the Corvettes sold.

Love it, parts are piss cheap to get through rockauto and it's got a lot more grunt than a M3 from the same era. A 911 Turbo is probably still a bit faster than the Vette, but neither the M3 nor 911 have the raw racecar feel of a Z06.

The Z06 is also a great car on the track, I've visited a few tracks now and the car feels extremely planted and controllable, I also have a Turbocharged Miata with Supermiata suspension which is my "real" racecar, and while the corvette can't keep up with it in the corners it more than makes up for it on the straights. Maybe that'll change if I do a coilover conversion down the road.

Other than that it gets good fuel eco thanks to the tall 6th gear and is a nice weekender to have in general, also a real head turner here since a Corvette is considered a bit more exotic compared to BMW and Porsche here.

It's also just begging for a different steering wheel and seats.

8/10 would recommend

wouldn't be surprised if anon is also german and like scat porn

How is it on the street? My biggest problem with Corvettes is that they don't feel very talkative or communicative unless you're driving extremely fast on a forest/mountain road. Miata and M3s and Evos/STis feel more fun at 7/10ths.

At the same time I usually see C5 Z06s specifically as what people who race Miatas and S2000s end up with (some calling it a 5/3rds size or maxi-S2000).

GM products of that era all have horrible ergonomics and you definitely need a aftermarket seat and steering wheel, I agree.

By that logic people that buy German cars in America are freaks, hipsters, special snowflakes, and masochists
>>
>>28691464
I only go to Germany to drive on the burgerking, and to get groceries/fuel.

The C5 is very responsive once you push it a bit, backroads are fun with it and I really enjoy taking it on a road that goes along a riverbank near my home. It does feel quite docile when driving casually, and a roundabout or something along those lines is a lot more fun in my Miata since I can just throw that in there without abandon.

The biggest issue that I have with the vette is that it has a bit of a deadzone near center steering, once you're past that it's an absolute beauty to drive. Linear torque also means you just have power everywhere which feels amazing.

i mean yeah, they kinda are

Buying a yank peice of shit over an m3 or 911 while living in Europe. Lolle
>>
>>28691483
Americans have all three as a option though, only bongs have a cheaper car market than Americans.

>>28691479
Interesting, I always saw it as a car with extremely high limits that didn't make it as playful as a car with smaller tire.

t. thinks German cars are good

Yet more unreliable than a Vette, sad.

The Corvette is cheaper to buy, own and maintain than a 911 or M3. It's also lighter (1314kg) which saves me money on road tax. Plus I think it's cooler.

>>28691508
It's incredibly fun to drive if you push it a bit. A miata still gives you more smiles on lower speed, more technical tracks though, plus it feels more connected with the road if that makes sense.

>>28691551
I already have a turbo shitbox making more than double factory power and torque. Now please give me recommendations for my long tubes and intake thank you anon
>>
>>28691558
did you try putting an exhaust and intake on your miats before you turbocharged it?
>>
>>28691423
I see that it's a US market car because it doesn't have side indicators, did you import it yourself, or already bought it over there?
>>
>>28691423
Since no one has answered your question directly, yes, American Racing Headers is probably the best set you can get for the money. I'd also look at some Borla mufflers as well. Vararam intake is also a nice choice. Buy em both and you'll be happy. You will have to have it tuned to gain the max out of the combo. HP Tuners seems to be the de facto these days.

Based yuro
My dad almost bought the C5 Malibu back when they came out but was 10k more so just got the regular one. Gave it to me last year and it's still going strong.
>>
>>28691423
exhaust literally does nothing for horsepower
>>
>>28691693
An exhaust that doesn't suck (figuratively that is) will decrease cylinder pressure.
>>
>>28691693
kek, get a load of this fucking idiot wrenchlet
>>
>>28691701
you quite literally get nothing out of an exhaust, moron. On a NA car you'll MAYBE have single digit gains if you've done head and internals with proper tune first. The only realistic gain is in harmonics and weight savings.
Stop playing video games.
>>
>>28691693
Headers are the most significant change to the exhaust system possible. Long tubes pair well with high-RPM focused cams, better flowing heads, etc, the whole brunt of the torque curve gets moved up.
>>
>>28691748
which means they're basically the last thing you do to optimize what you already did
>>
>>28691732
That corvette would gain at least 20whp from adding long tube headers to it alone, you imbecile mong.
