why is everyone crashing the mustang?
After driving an old vy ute for more than a decade a mustang with aftermarket suspension feels like a go kart that handles going sideways with extreme ease why are people crashing them?
Are they driving an auto and shifting into 2nd gear and losing control maybe?
Or are they turning traction control off and leaving ESC on maybe?
From my personal experience after driving one for 6,000km with a good amount of that sideways on dirt and tight country roads i think it is the traction control thing.
>>
It's mostly retards that have never owned anything RWD or anything with any real power before trying to show off but not having any skill or experience to do so. The Mustang got a reputation for being a crowd-seeking missile because it's relatively cheap for what it is and widely available.

next you will tell me it needs 1 stripe instead of 3

For a mustang that has real nice panel gap and you make a good point with the red lights touche op

falcunt here when i run out of fg's im probably gonna get one barra swap it with a turbo build and riase it up with falcon terry bits to piss off boomers
>>
>>28692878
From watching crash videos it seems like they have a tendency to snap the other way. It looks like you need to take out the countersteer IMMEDIATELY as it starts to come back or it ends as an overcorrection.

The going sideways doesn't look to be the problem, it's the straightening up afterwards where it's unforgiving.

>After driving an old vy ute for more than a decade
Stopped reading there.

Your old piece of shit that was never designed for handling, handles way worse than a modern sporty car. Wow who would have thought.

The mustang has never handled well. Every (real, non-ev) mustang I've driven or have been in, has felt like a bouncy castle and it doesn't hide it's weight well at all like other heavy performance cars. The engine sticks way the fuck out over the front axle so the weight distribution is fucked, the overhead cams make the cog fairly high up compared to a corvette with an ls. If you drive something with actually good handling, I.e. brz/gt86/miata/porsche/lotus etc., the mustang feels like a boat.

And that's okay, some people like that it feels like a boat. Mostly fat americans. Personally it's not for me.
>>
>>28693166
To add to this, I'm sure the higher spec/flagship models like the gt500 and gtd etc. Handle extremely well, but I'm talking about the "normal" mustang gt.

>why is everyone crashing the mustang?
I've only seen vids of pre S550 crashes. And anything pre S-550 had a live axle save for the 1999-2004 Cobra Mustang
>>
>>28692878
I think it's primarily because they panic and don't ride it out, they immediately fully let off the throttle. They also frequently don't slam the brakes, which isn't ideal either but if you've already fully let off the throttle you may as well do full force braking.
>>
>>28692901
Euro and Australian Mustangs have clear tail lights because of amber turn signals

In every world. Clear covers look like cheap eBay shit

>Are they driving an auto and shifting into 2nd gear and losing control maybe?

This does happen ackthually. I have abyoozed many Mustangs and they like to shift at unpredictable times and regain traction in unpredictable ways, partly because of auto trannymission programming and ESC programming.

At least on automatic S550 Mustangs, you can do a drift/slide out of a parking lot (Cars and Coffee style), but as soon as you either 1) let off the gas, 2) counter-steer, the ESC will kick in and kill power, to try to prevent you from crashing. This is even if ESC is "fully off" (these systems are never actually fully off in modern cars). This is just one example, but it has a lot of weird ESC shit programmed in that makes it actually harder to hoon.
>>
>>28693309
Also, the old 4.6 had a solid rear axle which led to spinouts if you didn't know how to handle it, which the average mustang driver did not
>>
its not uncommon people buy their stupid kids a mustang and he fuckin kills himself with it within 2 years.
>>
>>28692878
Idiots turn off traction control on public roads. Recipe for disaster.

>why is everyone crashing the mustang?
Lift overseer.
That's literally it
That's why retards crash them.
I've driven probably 10x 2015+ mustanges as an instructor.
Don't let off the gas abruptly and it's fine

This is why we need young defensive driver schools.
I've trained a 16yr old girl how to counter steer.
Anyone can do it.
>>
>>28695446
>Lift overseer.
fixed in my falcons (4dr mustangs for u seppos) with stiffer rear springs and lift kit
maybe its because the mustangs wheelbase is too short but ive never had handling issues in my fords
>>
>>28695454
Suspension doesn't really affect lift oversteer much anon.
Load transfer is something every car has.
Lift off the gas and rear load moves forward.
So your small oversteer becomes BIG oversteer.
Sure different springs & dampers can change how FAST load transfer happens, but can't change the load transfer
>>
>>28695446
>This is why we need young defensive driver schools.
>I've trained a 16yr old girl how to counter steer.
>Anyone can do it.
god i wish, but that would be seen by the retards in charge as enabling hoon behaviour and as such would be banned faster than you can say "local racetrack"
>>
>>28695516
suspension has a huge effect on how much the load transfer effects rear end grip
>>
>>28695552
Load transfer is basically fixed anon.
You can run 1,000lb front and rear springs and the load transfer would be near identical to running 100lb springs front and rear.

Load transfer is determined by the center of gravity, Roll centers, and wheel base/Width.
Notice the math equation doesn't include Spring rates or shocks?

Remember, car body movement does not change load transfer
>>
>>28695564
this is the dumbest thing ive ever read
>>
>>28693166
I have aftermarket shocks and springs on mine, it has zero body role and absolutely feels like a nearly 2 tonnes car.
Handles better than the same year ss commodore but which is what I am comparing the 2 door falcon to.
>>
>>28693351
You can turn the esc off by putting it in track mode then holding the traction control switch for about 10 seconds.
You are welcome, it stays on if you just hit the tc switch even in race mode.
>>
>>28695564
Someone has done some level of competitive drifting before.
Don't tell him about putting a block of lead in the spare wheel well and raising the front 20mm higher than the rear anon he will think youvare fukked in the head.
>>
>>28692878
the mustang only crashes into crowds of people, it has no bloodlust to sate on a country road.
>>
Why is everyone telling op to put red lights on his car? Would look shit.
>>
>>28692878
Is the round gt symbol aftermarket? Never seen that before
