So I finally bit the bullet into getting a new car for the first time because we got a baby coming. Got a deal on this 2025 Subaru Outback Wilderness package with most accessories included (no hitch) and Gold+ plan with 4k miles for $32k and 0% APR on it. For a family car it's the cheapest deal I could find that also had all the safety features I wanted. For a first new car buy, how well did I do? I currently have a 2004 Wrangler and a 2003 Highlander at home. Any experience with this model anyone could share?
>>28694959Your other cars would've been fine. I drove my first kid home from the hospital in a crown vic police interceptor.
>>28694959>2004 Wrangler>2003 Highlander>now adding another boring anemic 4x4 to the fleetLet me guess, the most extreme off-roading you’ve done is hopping the curb at the Target parking lot?
>>28694969Yeah I would've just used the Highlander if it weren't because it already has been having some issues for a while and hasn't been reliable. Wrangler is all good but it's a 2 door so it didn't feel safe for me. Felt like the right thing to do for the peace of mind alone. Wife will be driving it mostly.
>>28694971Didn't get the first two out of pleasure, they sort of fell into my lap passed on from family and relatives. Went with Wilderness because it seemed like the best for the price for features+rugged interiors so it's a better choice for driving kids around. I also live in the country and I may be moving a bit deeper into the mountains in a year or two.
Protecting the thread.
>>28695013Got a 2015 Impreza that's already got the bottom rusted from living so long up north. Thinking of going with one of the Outback models, any recommendations?
>>28694978Ignore the haters, outback is a fine vehicle.
>>28694959~$30k for a nearly new car is pretty good in this economy.I'd sell off the Highlander because it seems redundant.
You do whatever you feel is right.Whatever it is I'm sure I'll be stuck near you in traffic while you do something retarded in your Outback.
>>28694959>safety featuresYou're still dead if a pickup truck hits you.
>>28695479Affordable used pickup truck masterrace
>>28695479Pickups are not family cars
>>28695575Oh please do regale us as to why a crew pickup is not a good family car. Millions of people buy them for that exact reason.
>>28695417Really? Was thinking of making it the beater car. It's not in the best conditions so I don't know how worth selling it is.
>>28695505>something's got to give>something's got to give>spmething's got to give, oooooohhh HAA!>let the hajjis hit the floor!>let the hajjis hit the floor!>let the hajjis hit the flooooooor HAAA!
>>28695590Go back, beaner
>>28695590Pickups are huge gas guzzlers, not efficient for an everyday family car. They're also super expensive right now.
>>28694959Do those still have the DCM that kills your battery over night? My mom's 21 XT is ready for it's 5th battery lmao.Honestly buying a Subaru made after 2017 seems like a bad idea. On their way to Nissan quality
guess I'm moving to Uruguay
>>28695797Ford Maverick
>>28694959You really spent 32k on a slow cucked modern vehicle that will be completely destroyed in 5 years.
>>28695042Why would you get anothet car from them if the car you already have from that company rusted out in 10 years?
>>28696162Not living up north anymore, no risk of salt rust.
>>28694959My dad has a '23 Wilderness. It's already eaten a battery like >>28695851 mentions. Otherwise a pretty nice car, though I personally find it surprisingly cramped for a car that's got a similar footprint to my 2020 Ranger, and while it's minor it really annoys me that a large metal water bottle doesn't fit anywhere, especially considering it's aimed at the exact kind of people who take big metal water bottles everywhere. (Hell they recently had an official Subaru Wilderness event at my local REI store.)
>>28694959Make sure that CVT fluid gets changed out by 50k miles. Solid otherwise
>>28696195So why get such an ugly slow gay car then?
>>28695797And the 3 other shitboxes op owns don't get 20 mpg combined? New trucks get fairly decent mileage all things considered
>>28694959You should have gotten a 20 year old one to go with your other 20 year old cars. Nucars have aids
>>28695479What do you recommend instead?
>>28696274This is my hang up with buying an Impreza RS with a TR580 (that and the laggy touchscreen, but that's only annoying). All I see is doomposting about the CVTs but looking deeper it's usually somebody that thought that just because "it's a Subaru" they didn't hate to maintain it at all.As a commuter/cruising vehicle, coming from a notoriously problematic DCT, would I feel out of place and fuck it up? I really like the idea that you can temporarily ask for specific ratios in tricky situation where you know better than the computer, my current won't toggle out of "manual" unless you shift back to D or fuck up badly enough for the car to protect itself.
>>28696640A crew cab half ton or an actual SUV. They ride high enough that little inferior vehicles will go under you in a collision.
>>28696846This is the most feminine post on this site right now, but I'm sure you'll manage to top it.
>>28695590spics are not people, you have to go back pablo
Subarus suck fucking dick and shit breaks on them constantly. Ignoring the retarded engine design you will have weird ass electrical issues and exterior led lights just dying. Your washer fluid reservoir will leak after 2 winters even brand ass new.If they didn't make the WRX I would not be a Subaru owner.Go buy a certified pre owned Mazda CX-5 for a much more reliable family vehicle since you will be abusing that thing and you need a car that will actually keep up with itAlso how the fuck did you find 4chan.org if you're the type of retard to buy a NEW npc appliance as a new father.
>better buy a fruity cuckmobile or else people will call me a spicReally?
>>28695605I am a Jew and I drive my F150 as a family vehicle
>>28696954>>28696932All this talk of "spics" yet no one has mentioned how fuckin mexican >>28696280 is
best time to get the outback considering they absolutely butchered the next generation.
