I'm finally after too long trying to take a driving license, practicing driving with my dad. Something neither of us can figure out is why I'm having so much trouble with the turn signals. In a roundabout, when passing the exit before my exit, I turn the lever up to signal out to the right, but as I'm continuing to turn left (counter clockwise around the roundabout) the lever resets within half a second, stopping the turn signal. Never happens for my dad. Do I have to continually hold the lever up to force it to stay while I'm turning? Also, when turning out of a parking lot or similar with the wheel already rotated all the way to the left, I start indicating to the right. I start rotating the wheel to the right to turn right, and now the turn signal stops. Why? Why does it stop if I'm turning the opposite way I'm indicating at?Thanks for any answers to this. Kinda hard with some of these translated words.

Most auto-reset when you turn the wheel in the opposite direction to the signal. It's so you don't have to manually shut it off every time you complete a turn. You'll just have to hold it up if you need to turn one way while signaling another.
>>28695460Sounds like you're either taking an odd line or sawing at the wheel. Observe his technique more.
>>28695460When I turn off roundabouts I just lightly push the stalk up so the blinkers do three flashes. But even if you use them normally, they shouldn't turn off unless you turn the wheel in the opposite direction. Just take a smooth wide arc through the roundabout, it's not a race track where you need to take the inside line or whatever.
>>28695517stoplight crossing suck fucking ASS>>28695539it makes sense when returning from a turn, but if i start blinking while still and the wheels are already turned, should it still be resetting?>>28695541>>28695777it could be, still a hell of a lot of things to keep track of when moving in a roundabout so i try to stay exactly in the lane, that could be it
>>28695517If you can't figure out a roundabout youre a fag who cant drive. In fact you and OP are BFFs now.
>>28695807>should it still be resetting?isn't it a mechanical switch that engages past a certain rotation point of the steering wheel in both directions, and then disengages upon returning past that point?the car doesn't know what you're attempting to do, it's simply turning the blinker off because it detects your wheel passing a certain position (e.g. wheel returning from a turn)
>>28695807You should put the blinker on when you start to turn the wheel back towards the center to take the exit from the roundabout, kind of a natural motion as your left hand goes past the stalk.
>>28696054i suppose. with car computers being a thing for so long i'd think they would have gotten smarter by now>>28696058from images i see and what i've been told i should put the blinker on just as i pass the previous exit, like when the car is at the median between the lanes, and by that point i'm still turning to the left
>>28696457>i should put the blinker on just as i pass the previous exitthis is technically true but nobody does this, especially on a single-lane roundabout. most drivers don't indicate at all or do it when they are actually exiting
>>28695460You signal left to enter a roundabout and right to exit
