Why does the CTSV coupe look retarded but the ELR looks cool?
the coupe looks so much better IRL than in photos, and the ELR looks like a plastic toy in person
>>28696149It’s one of the few instances where transverse fwd worked better for proportions over rwd. The windshield and engine sitting so far forward over the front wheels works better and gives the ELR an almost mid engine look with the super short hood. The CTS does a weird job of trying to match a low pointy hood with one of the fattest asses ever put on a car. Probably would’ve worked better if the CTS was stretched longer with a true Cadillac full-size wheelbase. >Door-stop>CTS
>>28696149ELR has that swooping shoulder line from the taillight to the front fender that breaks up the tall beltline, unlike the CTS Coupe, which is slab-sided in comparison.
>>28696453I've seen them in person, they look even worse imo
>>28696149Both of them have beltlines that angle up so much that it's crazy. Just going by aesthetics, I think the ELR pulled off the proportions better than the CTS coupe, but I think the ATS Coupe is the one that finally got it right. It's literally sized and proportioned like a BMW E46 coupe that was hit with the "Art & Science" stick, with no awkward beltline or trunk that sits at 2.5x the height of the hood.
>>28696149>>28696151CTS coupe needed to share ~80% of a body with the sedan, while the ELR was a bespoke body with no (cadillac) sedan counterpart. Thanks to govt ShitRegs™ and retarded MegaRake™ styling, slapping coupe doors on a sedan in 20xx does NOT work at all and results in a pinched face + big black ass>I still don't understand the fucking rake thing. Lengthen the car, give us a long and low trunk, and go ahead and extend the wheelbase too to get that sweet epa mileage discount.
2nd gen cts-v is still one of the greatest american cars ever built
>>28696149Americans never designed a good looking coupe (60's-70's mucle cars are not coupes
>>28696151I actually really like how angular the coupe looks.
>>28696149don't make me dream of a wrx-swapped elrdamn it looks cooland look at all this space for creativity
I just realized I haven't seen a Cadillac ATS for a few years now. Are they all dead
>>28696149Cadillac apparently sold less than 3,000 ELRs during its brief run. Idk it could be a fun gimmick car if you need a cheap economic commuter.
>>28696151the ass is too big and too angled upit's a shame they chose to make it look stupid because a CTSV coupe sounds like a good idea
>>28698347theyve been out of production for 6 years
>>28698964Its weird because the ATSV also looks good snd is largely based on the same design language
>>28696151It just looks like a butt. especially with the centered exhaust pipes.
>>28699145the rear end is the only part of the car where you can make an argument that the EV looks better
