GET 300,000+ miles out of your engine with this one simple trick.
Yet it filters 90% of owners?

The manufacturer specs that increasingly space out oil change intervals, while having more complex engines with things like direct injection (that should call for shorter intervals), while also watering down oil weights for fleet MPG purposes are all the things that are actually filtering the cars themselves. The owners, even the ones that drop by the dealer for every oil change are the ones that'll be filtered once the warranty's up.
Even worse, is that once some of these modern cars start hitting the quick-lube places, or even clueless owners that DIY, these same direct injected modern cars all require oils that meet certain standards for things like low speed pre ignition. You can use the right 5w30 or whatever weight oil, but if it's not meeting the correct standards you could still be doing damage to your engine.
This is all about modern, direct injected cars specifically. Some old pushrod V8 isn't going to care what brand or even if the oil's synthetic, for instance. Some oil-burning old Honda isn't going to care when you drop 20w50 in it in place of 5w30, either. Some direct-injected [insert modern car here]? Far more picky.

People are dumb and really lazy.
Also doesn't help that auto manufactures says various fluids will last over 10k miles or even "lifetime" and so owners will just drive it until it breaks down.

frequent oil changes = $$$
Simple as, people will cheap out like >>28696854 and use the cheapest, thickest, oil possible and try to run it for as long as possible without changing.
This is why I will never ever buy a used car. Too many times have I have people broken down on the side of the road and while checking everything noticed that they have practically no oil or when asked about maint they just look at me dumbfounded as if they never take their car in ever.

skill issue. learn to inspect. boomer men are notorious for maintaining rigid oil change schedules

trying to make people care about things they cannot directly see is nearly impossible

Someone brought in a 2025 toyota to my walmart shop that needed 0W-8. It looked like apple juice.

The 2023 Toyota behind him needed 0W-16 and had 300,000 miles and a LYFT sticker on the front windshield. Great investment!
