Yes.
>was it fun ?
No. The guy thought evey old pensioner tailgating him was challenging him to a race and if someone overtook him quickly he would then go full throttle for 10 mins trying to catch up with the guy to overtake him. Bearing in mind this is UK roads too and not american interstates or backwood highways. The guy was legit dangerous and an absolute hot head. It didn't help he got road cars on the exclusive premis of bhp and he would do shit dirty chip tunes to boost their bhp more. His taste in cars was shit too by being fixated on VW Golfs or modern Beetles.

My step father on the otherhand, total opposite experience. The guy is a legit talented driver obsessed with racing games to the point of being once 3rd place on one of Gran Turismo's racing leaderboards while being a very experienced mechanic whose dream car is a Skyline because he fucking loves Japan. Never seen him downshift normally, he always blips the throttle seamlessly or heal toeing while maintaing the speed limit until it's the backroads where he goes 5-10 miles over the limit. He's a weeb but a good guy.

yes, and no. he treats the pedals like on-off switches, there is no in-between

when my dad gets mad i'm pretty sure he's literally blind with rage. once he got ticketed for rolling through a stop sign and he got so fucking mad after that he was ready to hop into the car and ram the sign. another time well before this incident he started racing with someone that cut him off on the highway and it escalated until he clipped the corner of another car. if you have an opinion even just a bit different from him or disagree with him on something, he just immediately decides that you are against him and an enemy, end of story. it's such an awful way to live life thinking the world is against you.

My dad has a 1977 mercury comet that he used to take me on rides around the block in. It’s a bit of a frankenstein, as its a combination of a couple cars. Interior bits from a 1974 maverick, originally a 250(?) I6, swapped to a 302 from a 1979 Granada. 3 speed automatic rebuilt, maybe 220 horsepower. That was the only time I was allowed to sit front seat and without a car seat until i was 11 or 12.

One day I’m gonna inherit that car, but (God willing) that’s many years away.

Dad is 75. He revs to 4k before slipping the clutch in normal traffic because he can barely drive manual anymore.
He sees red lights ahead and waits to the last second to brake instead of coasting and gradually slowing down.
He stays in the left lane going exactly the speed limit because he's scared of the other lanes. Then he freaks out and calls other drivers names when they pass him on the right.
I'm terrified of letting him drive.
