When will Americans realize that our higher cost of living and higher wages means manufacturing simply is not going to come back?

We have the infrastructure, intelligence, and willing workforce to manufacture far more complex machines and devices for which tooling and training is not available in other countries and yet we absolutely refuse to do this.

Labour is no longer a concern when it comes to manufacturing. The big cost savings are being able to not have any sort of environmental regulation when you make shit.

Tesla manufactures its cars in California. Probably the most expensive fucking state in the US and it has zero issues.

It's literally all about environmental regulation now.

>Labour is no longer a concern when it comes to manufacturing.
Yes it is. Labor across the board is the number one cost factor for any kind of work, including manufacturing. Why do you think the tech sphere is all in on automation? It eliminates the number one cost. If it were all about regulations the industries would make this clear when they outsource. The reason why they AREN'T making it clear that this is why they're outsourcing is because other countries manufacture for cheaper due to lower labor costs and as a result they want to move those jobs out of the country anyway, regardless of environmental legislation.

>Tesla manufactures its cars in California. Probably the most expensive fucking state in the US and it has zero issues.
Tesla is subsidized out the ass by both national and regional government and would fail in the free market. Not only is this well-known in the business sphere, it's part of the reason why Elon repeatedly fights with Trump on Twitter.

>Making an iPhone is way harder than an engine!
They and most electronics are actually like 99.9% automation making the PCBs and soldering components and such, pretty much only final assembly and visual qc are done by humans... And they had a 50% rejection rate. Engines on the other hand involve a lot of labor with the casting (including metallurgy control) and assembly and loading between stages and everything else, only automation is small components like valves and springs and final machining of the block and heads and crank and such, otherwise it's near 100% manpower.

Yes. Tesla had an operating loss every minute of its existence until late 2019. It existed entirely off of subsidies and private funding up until that point, and even afterwards. Lots of its initial profit was still subsidy money with extra steps by way of selling EV credits.

>>28697853
>Well gee I can't wait to see how much of a discount Ford puts on their vehicles now with the money they will save by outsourcing!
At no point did I claim prices would go down as a result of this. There is no economic incentive for them to do so, just as there is no economic incentive to manufacture cars in the United States.

>That's bullshit. If you have cheap energy and don't waste tax money on illegals and Israel, you can make it work.

Germany subsidized the everliving shit out of their market for decades. They were "doing fine" because the government pumped billions of euros into keeping them afloat. Why is everyone all about the natural hand of the market until it comes to manufacturing?

Ford doesn't know how to make Indian market vehicles. Global cars do not work in India.

Suzuki cracked the shitbox formula for India, Indians want Toyota and Honda for perceived quality regardless of accommodation.

Also, India is notoriously bad at anything resembling manufacturing tolerances. Ford is literally lighting $5 billion on fire. It may say $370 million today but they will keep trying for the false hope of cheap labor.
>>

Indian manufacturing is no joke anon, lot of commercial trucks, tractors, buses are made here and they run damn near forever. Merc manufactures engines in india. We have our own military tech and manufacturing. Indian motorcycles, although they are small are also known for being really reliable.
>>
>>28698825
>>28698664
>India is notoriously bad at anything resembling manufacturing tolerances
Correct
Its not bad if you take that into account. But its bad if you try to make a factory line making last gen EcoTec whatever 1,2l super turbo boosts...

>Indian manufacturing is no joke
Its mostly economy of scale.
Not bad in itself, but it means you got to pick reliable and replicable over fancy and aerospace engineered.

In Japan you can at the least trust the picket line worker to report back that there is engineering and blueprint defects. You can't do that in India
>>
>>28698838
Its a design issue not manufacturing, for Ford. You think merc is easier than Ford? Also, india makes rockets, ICBMs, india can manufacture almost anything automotive related. Rockets used to launch satellites reliably at low cost, not just a tech flex.
>>
The whites said the same thing about the Chinese... how their manufacturing is unreliable junk.... look where the chinese are now...
the whites are desperately trying to demoralize in the face of asian industrial growth
>>
>>28697786
So will the engines will run on shit? How is that supposed to work once they get to America?
>>
>>28698854
No you dipshit
Not reading isn't the answer to somebody agreeing with you. Reading is

Ford is going to burn money, because they are going to trust the entire ecosystem to report back. Instead they are going to burn money because they want triple machined super tolerance parts
They are going to receive ingots of the wrong metal quality, and the picket line won't even bother.

India is so large that unlike some US states or European countries, you don't need to visit the other side of the continent to do something.
You can freely source labor and parts and machines
So you can do a lot of cool stuff, possibly without even import materials
But the work is crude for how advanced it is, and its WHY Ford is going to burn money: They are expecting Mexican labor practices, from a far more Colonial mindset country.

>>28698865
We've also said the same thing about Brazil and India for even longer than China.
We then said it about China. about the times of the economic reforms of Deng.

BR and India still isn't there yet, while China could be forced to play a game of 4D chess to avoid starting WW3 over global trade wars.
>>
>>28698509

Those of us that have worked with or dealt with jeets know that those streetshitters have a terrible I know more than you work ethic.
Where do they get their bloated ego from? When everyone else on the team does the job a different, better, faster way but the jeet insists its more "efficient!'

I've worked with whites who act the same way as well, literally that exact mindset.
You simply see brown skin and feel hatred. Why don't whites just admit that lol?
>>
>>28699001
Most whites will conform to the team and admit the job can be done better.
Jeets NEVER conform, it must always be done their way. They must be forced.
There is a difference between some people being dumb and stubborn and an entire race shitting on the streets.
What's most annoying is the jeet trained a nigger how to do the job wrong and now the nigger won't listen to anyone, not the bosses, not EVERY other person telling him the job could be done easier.

>If you put tariffs high enough that manufacturing home is cheaper it will work.
Who is going to buy an American-made car when the lowest-trim shitbox MSRPs $100,000 due to a wholly-domestic manufacturing change? We're already seeing a decline in the car market because new models are too expensive with the current economics in play; how is making everything even more domestic than it already is going to fix this? Tariffs only benefit local industry when there's room for higher prices in the market, and current returns for all major western automakers has proven that this is not the case and that there is no more price wiggle room.

Ford is, and always has been, a kingdom and requires a strong king to bash heads and get all the little fiefdoms that executives have carved out to work towards a common goal instead of each trying to gain power at the expense of others. William Clay (Bill) is weak and knows it so he won't do what needs to be done because he wants to be known as a "nice guy" but in a moment of clarity 20 years ago hired a strongman in Mulally. That guy moved on after stabilizing things and Bill's not done the same since so the company is just kinda drifting along like no one's in charge as Farley is just faking it and also won't exercise power. Worse, there are no apparent heirs to the "throne" so it'll probably get worse before it gets better. IF it gets better.
>>
>>28698996
