ITT wrenching pics that command respect. You guys know me, I only come here for the wrenching threads. That OP pic is not mine, but it was one of the most respect commandings pics I ever saw on here.

>>28698439Swapping out springs is a respectable "project" now? It's like a 1 hour job max, maybe 1.5-2 if you have to fuck with the alignmentAnd why the hell is he doing it outside?
>installing a quick strut commands respect next you'll be bragging about how you swapped your rotors
>>28698439changing struts (with quick struts) isn't hard at all
>>28698443>>28698447I think the point OP was making is that he did it in his driveway, in the snow. Probably had an oh shit moment when the log he was using splintered.
can't really convey the scale of this particular project from earlier this year in one image (head studded NB2 VVT engine, 6 speed transmission, custom 3.63:1 limited slip differential swap, and beer money motorsports ECU all at once)
>>28698495>Car to the left, car to the rightYou sir are a professional, therefore, I am not impressed.
Doing any work yourself is respectable considering the way everything is going
>>28698439Sometimes shit happens. Never had to work on dirt, but I did upper and lower control arms in 4" of snow.
>>28698439Quick struts are pretty easy, but as a garagelet I can appreciate working on top of cardboard and placing a jack on wood so it doesn't sink.Meanwhile I was wondering what that increasingly-loud vibration from under my car was. 40 year old flex discs and a fully disintegrated driveshaft bearing (and nonexistent diff bearing) were the culprits.

>>28699530fucken hell. most i ever did was take the back half of the gearbox off because i thought the spring that held the speedo drive gear was fucked (the driven gear was just too small)pic related was when i did the manual swap prior to the above, far easier getting it installed than dropping the old auto.

>>28698710why the fuck would you do all that to whatever ancient shitbox this is
>>28699528Well that's one way to avoid using a degree wheel.
>>28699580because I like it, enjoy working on it, and hate having money
>>28698695>in the snowThere's like .01" of snow there what the fuck are you talking about?
>>28699566>Why is there an umbrella over your engine?I'm going to assume he wanted to block the sun from cooking him while work over the engine bay in that spot at that time.
>>28699566I was doing new front brakes at the time and the umbrella was my sad attempt at keeping the sun off of me, these days I have a popup tent for that!I managed to get both of the bearings torqued incorrectly somehow so last month I warped the fuck out of those new brakes at the dragon, lolThe one I thought was too tight was too loose and the one I thought was fine was too tight, not sure how that happened, or why I never re-checked them...I am out of money for unnecessary repairs and the warpage sorted itself out (somehow, for a while it felt like the whole front end was going to disintegrate) so I'll just try my best to grease it all up before I go next timeI've also discovered that, while not exactly 'the' AOD shuffle, if I shift into 1st while the car is in 3rd, it will downshift to 2nd, but it won't drop to 1st unless you go reeeeally slow or give it too much gas, in which case you have to do the whole get-up-to-third thing again, but that should help me next year to not rely on the brakes so much since the car won't be upshifting every single time i take my foot off the gas!I really should have just tested that while I was down there but the prospect of shifting from Drive (1/2/3) to 1st only at like 40mph is a wee bit scary when you're 600 miles from home and still waiting to see if your transmission truly survived the amazon radiator coolant ATF leak incident.By the way, that thread I made about fucking around with the electric fans and going back to the clutch fan? The new clutch fan was all it needed, I think the highest temp I saw on the entire dragon was like 210 or something.I did manage to hit 219 at some point but I never noticed when because the alarm was set to 220 and I only found out when I happened to hit the peak button at one point.Ok, that's enough of a blogpost, personally I'd rather read posts like these than endless arguments over whether or not a particular anon "needs" his F250 to get groceries or not though

>>28699885I had been driving my 302/aod tbird just without a fan blade or tstat for months and it only got past 200 in traffic.
Clutch job on my Twingo. Not the most impressive thing in the thread by a long shot since I had access to a lift and some friends to help me, but getting the gearbox out from between the radiator and subframe required loosening the latter and some very careful maneuvering.

wow I'm really respecting right now what you've done! I mean wow! this is wild

>>28698439biggest project i've done on my car ever since i bought it is changing the supercharger oil and removing the supercharger silencersecond biggest job is either changing the shock absorbers or replacing front wheel bearings and installing wheel spacers, both of those involved doing the job twice since i was just swapping parts off of a for parts junker to my daily driverif perchance you're planning on buying a 2000's mercedes then i HIGHLY recommend you buy it, everything is easy to reach and every screw and bolt JUST MAKES SENSE, i've been having so much fun working on my car
I have to replace my rear struts and it's going to be the first 'major' auto work I've done myself. Prior to this only done oil changes and swapped tires. This thread gives me hope.
