I'm in Texas, just found a STEAL for a 2WD truck.
Will I have any regrets in not getting a 4WD truck?
Not going to off road it and towing will be sub 5k pounds.

stop bringing your god damn fullsize pickup truck to the drag strip nobody fucking cares
>>
>>28698646
Just don’t do 4wd things or make sure you have some mud slingers on the back if you do.
>>
>no off road
>light towing
you don't need 4wd

>texas
you really don't need 4wd
>>
>>28698650
I will not bring it to the drag strip anon, I don't care for it
>>
>>28698656

>Heavy towing

Don't need 4x4 for that either.
>>
>>28698646
You're good, you'll like it.

4wd fags cope when you tell them the 2wd weighs hundreds of pounds less and has better weight distribution too
>b-b-but muh offroad
wow it's almost like different people use trucks in different ways

/thread/

also a 2WD is,
>lighter
>easier to work on, like when an oil pan leaks
>less things to maintain (e.g., front diff/axles, t-case, front shaft)
>less things that can fail (e.g., front diff/axles, t-case, front shaft)
if u don't need 4WD, it's just W's all around

Keep in mind 2wd trucks have zero resale value so keep that in mind if you plan on selling it eventually.
>>
>>28698646
I've never regretted my 2wd truck.
>>
>>28698676
Disagreeable. If you ever need to tow from grass or dirt, or descend a steep grade you're gonna want 4x4.
>>
>>28698646
people who buy new trucks
>want it for the flash and status, doesnt buy 4wd, rather fill it with options
people who buy used trucks
>need a truck, want 4wd, give no fucks about options
if you are a potential used truck buyer fine with 2wd just go for it they are cheap and plenty, resale will however be lots of tirekickers and calls
>oh, and... is it 4x4?
>its not? well sorry then not interested.
i get a feeling diesel is kinda the same.
>>
No 4x4 is mostly a meme if you live somewhere without real winters. If you’re not going to do rock crawling or mudding, you’ll be happier without it. 2WD is far more capable off road that people give it credit for. A lot of people just act like you need 4x4 to drive across wet grass to justify paying for it I guess.

This. I have a 2WD I got for a steal. Had a guy replace the open 3.08 diff with a lsd 3.73, I'm in Florida and don't do any off roading beyond yard shit. This will be good enough. That's about all I recommend OP. Check them ratios if it's an older truck.

Steep grade throws more weight on the drive axle anyway. No serious heavy tow will go anywhere on grass and dirt will have to be compacted.
>>
>>28698646
Go for it. I'd advise throwing in a junkyard posi, if necessary.
>smoother ride
>fewer parts to go bad
>slightly better fuel economy
>>
>>28698646
what kinda truck?
>>
>>28698697
Is this true?

no

Also in Texas, used to have an OBS F350 PowerStroke that was 2wd and I towed a lot with it. Pulling horse trailers, lowboys loaded with hay or equipment through pastures, gravel roads and occasionally some soft roads after a rain. As long as you have decent tires, you’re just fine if you have some weight on the rear axle. You also get better tow ratings without 4wd so there’s that. So many assholes act like you’re going to get stuck the moment you leave the pavement if you’re not a 4x4, my truck at work is 2wd and I’ve been through some nasty sites but I’ve got weight in the bed and I don’t slow down or go out of my way to go through puddles.
>>
>>28699346
That's why your truck doesn't last for shit.
>>
>>28699356
nta, but all the trucks on my grandpa’s farm are 2WD and the newest one is a 90’s Comanche.

If you don't often go off road, get 2wd. Best tool for the job. Pretty simple.
