>2015 Chevy Colorado 6 speed manual pretty rare
>196k km (120km miles)
>13.8k CAD (9800USD)
>all new rotors and pads, new tires and full set of winter tires as well
>Truck is from out west BC so minimal rust
>big dent on passenger rear quarter panel whatever

Seemed like my absolute dream truck....I drove 1.5 hours to test drive it and man. It drove so differently than my 20 year old shitbox mazda3 with 400k km on it. The throws for the gears were so long, the gears were kinda just there....you found them but felt loose 1st and 2nd gear were totally useless felt like I was in a semi-truck I would be in like 3rd gear before finishing making a left. Mind you none of this felt like, something was wrong or mechanically bad just the way the transmission/truck was. The clutch felt awful, zero feeling had no idea when the truck was biting, stalled it twice like a loser and the throttle felt like an awful electronic one with so much lag. Plus the parking brake is a pedal, which is fine but it blocks you from using the dead pedal properly as if you lift your fit to go use the clutch it hits the back of the parking brake.

Overall....I was totally disappointed, anyone here own one of these with the 6 speed manual? Am I just being stupid thinking this thing would drive like a car? When I hopped back into my mazda and drove home...it felt like a fucking sports car compared to it, the shifting was so tight responsive so much power even at 20 years old. I think I am just falling for my own meme of manual good automatic bad and in this case for trucks....it may not be true at least for my driving style.

Truck manuals are usually pretty dogshit.

The only one I found to be pretty dent was the 3rd gen 4Runner's, pretty notchy (in a good way) and fairly short throws.
>>
jeep gladiator has a manuel option
>>
I drove a Ford ranger manual once it was so horrible even compared to my pretty crappy Honda Civic manual. I couldn't believe it either op

Okay, so it wasn't just me this is like a thing.....good to know. Yeah, I think I'm gonna pass on the truck as it would be a total chore to drive and I say that as someone who has never once thought that about a manual car or my own car ever. I'm almost worried that it is such a rare option that parts will become unobtainable for them quickly as I have read a couple people already complaining but some of the posts were from COVID so. The options for clutches seem limited, so could end up screwed if they stop making them if it needs to be replaced at some point.

I really liked the 5 speed in the first gen, but if you don’t want a 4 cyl 2wd, it is a unicorn. In the 2nd gen, the manual was only available as a poverty spec 4 cyl 2wd in the US

Yeah, it seemed pretty gutless and it was the poverty spec WT trim at least with an extended cab. That's what it was, just a 2wd so in the winter it would probably suck even more and yeah it is a unicorn I was reading on the forums that like 1% of the Colorado's were manual so I can imagine part support isn't the best for spares/clutches etc. I know I would get use to it, but people say it's hard to even pass people sometimes and this would be my only vehicle. I would be putting lots of tools and material in it at times, so it would probably become even more gutless. I love the idea of this truck, and the same poverty spec WTs that are auto are pretty similar prices but I will just feel like such a fucking fag if I buy an auto one instead I don't know. I will keep an eye on the truck, if it stays at the dealership lot for awhile I might just hit the guy with an offer of like 1500-2k off the price and see if he bites and it's just so cheap would be dumb to pass up.
>>
Also apparently these trucks have this...which is the most dangerous useless feature I have ever heard of and I think I may have even ran into it without realizing when I was driving the truck on the test drive.

If it's the V6, buy it right now, drivetrain will last a long ass time and it's fairly easy to wrench on
I've dailyd a 2018 automatic for 7 years now, love it, planning to drive it forever, but I often wish I had the manual, I just know the tranny is gonna go first

Stop listening to clankers, retard. When they say "may" it means they have no source and are guessing. And even when they are confident, you should check sources. Pages talking about how [fact] is an urban legend get cited by clankers in support of urban legends constantly.

The V6 didn't come with a manual from factory. I know of one person who did a swap, but it was pretty involved, he had to use some Camaro stuff to make it work. He used a TR6060 with a LOG tailhousing kit to allow him to use a transfer case.

For as much shit as he had to jerry rig, he should have 5.3 swapped it too, but whatever, not my project.

Their are multiple pictures of it happening in the truck, I looked it up on forums.

Have the same truck but not in manual, well here its a holden colorado, slightly different looking and has a 2.8 diesel duramax engine matted to a 6 speed. I've had it for about 3 years now.
>>
>>28699541

How do you like it? How many KM? Any problems with it so far? I know it's totally different engine and drivetrain and stuff but still. This little truck is kinda growing on me even after the crappy test drive....still thinking about going back up and giving it another shot/look around. The truck has 196k km which worries me, I am scared it will need a clutch soon shit starts leaking etc.

Nah you guys should of been sold the exact same diesel engines. It's alright, torque in the diesel engine makes it fast, automatic gearbox is fine and reliable, wouldn't even get a manual in a ute as they're shit. My one is also RWD not 4x4, but that just means no problems from transfer cases.

The paint on these things can develop some rust spots which is annoying, engine tho is pretty bullet proof, today just changed the air filter, topped up some coolant and gonna do a oil change later tonight when it cools down outside. Doing all these minor maintenace items are quite simple and easy.

Only bad thing is the timing belt, which is a cunt of a job and I'm thinking about paying someone to do it. Other than that it's an alright car, don't expect comfort, but it will get the job done. Infotainment in these are also pretty good, all should have bluetooh and a usb port for carplay, visability in these is really good as well. Taken mine personally in the snow and it handled that fine, I had no chains on my tires either, and it pushed through, i've taken it offroad as well a few times and it handles that fine as well.

Oh sorry, I should add my one has done 168 thousand km.

I have a V6 2015, after my first gen got totaled by a retard in an Audi, I was looking for another first gen to manual swap, but everything I could find was rotted much worse than the one I owned, I guess normalnigger small truck owners in the US don't wash them. I've only had it since April, but it's been a good truck. I miss my manual, but I needed 4x4 for deer lease maintenance and stuff, and I would have really struggled to love a 4 cylinder. I do enjoy how much more it tows.

When I started looking at 2nd gens, I did test drive a couple of the diesels, they were nice, but I have a very short commute (7 miles) and I was worried about what a short duty cycle would do for the life of a turbodiesel, small displacement or not. They certainly had plenty of pep.
>>
>>28698655
Don't buy a NA 4cyl truck. They have no fucking power and drink fuel like a V8.
>>
>>28699593
Should be alright on short commutes, they will automatically do DPF purges, just got one today in fact, moving back to the country side tho so my turbo diesel holden colorado will be getting the proper treatment. Thank fuck I changed the air filter today, car ran so much more quiet and had more power.

I got this car from a stealership so I thought they would of done routine shit but guess not, looked as if the filter had never been changed. Got to tackle fuel filters next I reckon, timing belt and that should be all the mechanical shit done for quite some time. The rest is just aesthetic stuff, need new tires/rims since I Just got steelies on this thing and maybe a canopy and bullbar and it should look pretty nice.

>American worships manual transmissions and finds them desirable in every class of vehicle.
You learned your lesson
