Can a B58 engine be tuned to produce 1,000 horsepower?
>>28698931yeah
The General Electric J79 is the engine the B58 used. They're pretty much your go to for speed.
>>28698931yes + 500 more.
You can tune any engine to produce 1000+ hp at least once
>>28698931Every engine can produce 1000hpBut some only once
>>28698942>>28698956yeah, thats what I've heard about Mercedes-Benz engines
downpipe / tune / e85 / fbo catless / upgrade fuel pump /big turbo
>>28698931Tuned? No. Built? Yes. Billet block, diamond pistons, forged internals, 102mm turbo, fueltech ecu, dyno tuning, ethanol fuel. To be fair, just about any engine will do 1000hp with this setup.
>>28698931pipe + mail
>>28699297>
>>28698971pretty sure the B58 is becoming pretty popular recently for being built to make pretty big numbers without the need for any forged stuff. And you can get it in a 240i for rather cheap.
>>28700080No way in hell it's putting down 1,000hp in stock form without coughing up the tranny and cracking the pistons. Only the crank and rods are forged.
>>28698971At that point it ain't a B58 anymore
>>28698956Not true. Most will blow up way before reaching 1000.
>>28698971That's a spec for 2000hp
Didn't uhhh was it papadakimakuras or whatever the fuck build a 1000 hp B58 on stock bottom end just to prove a point back when they were still a new thing on the supra? If memory serves, everyone was screeching about MUH 1000HP 2JZ and he mentioned that for drifting the B58 is just all around better.
>>28701471Apparently the B58 is the superior choice to the 2JZ all the way up to around 1500hp
>>28701471>MUH 1000HP 2JZNever was a thing. You'd need billet block past 700HP or the car would be blowy uppy. 600HP was just about the limit you coule get out of stock 2jz reliably.
>>28701482No, get your facts straight, 2jz easily makes 1000hp with just a bigger turbo
>>28701484Just a tune and an exhaust bruv, my mate had one of those.
>>28701491Ye man like 500 bucks and a weekend I had one in need for speed it's so good
>>28701482>jz retardationWHY THE FUCK YALL TRYING TO BUILD A PROJECT OUT OF THE ANCIENT FUCKING CROWNS AND CRESTAS YOU DUMB CUNTS. I just wanted a nice cheap sedan with an i6 and didn't want to deal with used bmw bullshit.
>>28698931judging by the sheer quantity of BMWs and Supras I see in professional drifting which run 2JZs instead of B58s - I'd say they're not great for it.
>>28701482You've gotten yourself confused with the RB26 buddy
>>28701624>we need gigawide tires to accelerate faster>also we need 1000~ hp to break traction on these gigawide tires so we can slide and make a bunch of smokePro drifting is a theater of absurd. Fucking bagchasers.
>>28701638It is extremely gay and negroided. >I entered this corner so incredibly slowly that the guy behind me literally could not hold a drift without crashing into the back of me, and then I used my 9001hp to do a rolling burnout with my foot on the brake - I winNever-the-less the engines still need to reliably make around ~1000hp continuously for 30 seconds at a time with short breaks between back-to-back runs and the 2JZ is one of the few engines which has thoroughly proven itself under these conditions. The B58 has not FAILED to compete reliably, but I don't believe it has properly proven itself yet and the 2JZ still seems to be the cheaper, more reliable and more sensible option that most teams go with.
>>28701653And this is why i think tires should just be narrower from the get go. Natural power limit made by tires will bring back different engine configurations cause theres difference between making 1300 and say 700 hp reliably. Doing so also will limit plays that rely on pure engine power. Inb4 S-chassis SR20 dominance imminent.
>>28700080Differential? Transmission? Wheels/tires that will actually put down that amount of power? Tiktok builds are delusional
