Trying to decide between a C7 Corvette, particularly Grand Sport, and a 6th gen Camaro SS, particularly 1LE. Is the Corvette that much better to be worth the extra cash? Also, C7 Grand Sports in manual are quite rare and hold their value, would a Z51 Stingray be close enough?
>>
>>28698934
Sitting inside a corvette feels more premium than the camaro.
>>
>>28698934
I just don't like the Camaro while acknowledging it has the best performance out of the mustang, camaro, wally trio.
>>
>>28698934
If you are trying to decide between the two, then it means that:
A. You don't need the backseats, otherwise you'd already buy the Camaro.
B. You can (or at least should be able to) comfortably afford the Corvette, otherwise you'd also already buy the Camaro.
Which means that in this case, you should buy the Corvette.

Entirely different classes of car.

Get the camaro if you're under 55 years old.
> Corvette that much better to be worth the extra cash
no. get to the limits of the ss 1le performance first and then you can get a grand sport.
>>
>>28698973
>Get the camaro if you're under 55 years old.
>oh, you want this space frame, low, 2 seater sports car with a big, loud v8? you must be an old man lmao ecksdee
I never understood this retarded stereotype
>>
>>28699016
It's not a stereotype, 85% of Corvette owners are over 45.

45 to 54: 22%
55 to 64: 26%
over 65: 37%

https://hedgescompany.com/blog/2024/12/corvette-demographics/

Does that mean a young person shouldn't own a Corvette? No. Especially the amazing-looking C7 which is still a manual and smokes everything (and you have no idea how badly it was hooned)
>>
>>28699080
That's because most people under 45 are flat broke
>>
>>28699016
>I never understood this retarded stereotype
it's called going outside and seeing that every corvette owner has white hairs (if not bald)
camaros just have more presence
>>
>>28699084
>camaros just have more presence
>yeah my car is worse by every measurable metric
>but it's got presence
cope
>>
>>28699084
I don't think Camaros have more presence in any way. The last gen is objectively a good car with no visibility, but it definitely looks like trash compared to a C7. I am: >>28699080

>>28699083
Doesn't change the fact that the average Corvette owner is old as fuck.

you wouldnt get it if you werent american
muscle cars are (were) synonymous with youth and fun, no tryharding mindset of performance numbers...
They just accomplish what a yountg person needs, two doors and backseats just for him and his anime body pillows. A good size trunk as well. it's not some toy weekend car, it does the full job.
Now you may be able to treat a corvette like a muscle car but its inherently more tryhard... not as comfortable, less space, etc.
It goes without saying that a corvette is more expensive than a muscle car like a mustang or camaro ... obviously for the same EXACT price and mileage and everything, you would take the corvette, but theyre not the same price...
You mentioned earlier
> oh, you want this space frame, low, 2 seater sports car with a big, loud v8? you must be an old man lmao ecksdee
This is because these corvettes are weekend toy cars, the boomers who drive them have regular commuter cars that they use 99% of the time
>>
>>28699102
You're coping and also talking to more than one person.

I wonder who the coper is, the person who actually had to make this decision and ended up with a camaro, or the person arguing hypotheticals and theories XD

at least you have a V8
you did get the V8... right, anon?
>>
>>28699089
The Camaro isn’t worse. It puts its power down better and is more reliable.

>>28699115
Sorry but the chudmaro was the right car for me and is the right car for you too.

I've driven both at the autocross and I've driven a 6th gen ZL1 1LE at a race track.
My choice would probably be the Corvette there's just a lot of things especially with the suspension that are just superior to the Camaro.
The Corvette has a better interior & has better features. they tend to hold value a little better if if it's like a Grand sport or z51.

I've seen some C7 z51s show up locally for around $30,000.
It's a pretty good deal for what you're getting

The SS 1LE is closer to a Stingray Z51 than the Grand Sport. It should go without saying that the C7 is better but the 6th gen Camaros aren't far behind. The Vette has a big weight and aero advantage. Either way get one thats manual. The 8L80 had problems and the 10L80 ain't much better

All sports cars are going to skew older because older guys have more money. 911 skew older than 718 also
>Buyers of the fan-favorite Porsche 911 model are often between 46 and 65 years old, with the average age being 52. The Porsche Boxster, on the other hand, is often bought by persons who are 47 years of age or fall between 36 and 55 years of age.
>>
>>28699117
>more reliable.
Literally the same GM parts bin, just in a smaller body
>>
>>28699102
>They just accomplish what a yountg person needs, two doors and backseats just for him and his anime body pillows. A good size trunk as well
I would rather not have those useless backseats and have a bigger trunk instead. And my bodypillow deserves to ride in the passenger seat, not in the back.

Go look up the amount of failures for the c7. It would fail a lot even in testing. The Camaro had more time to bake in the oven and they addressed all of the kinks that were found in the c7.
>>
If Camaro is so good and best-selling then why did GM cancel it?

It depends on the trim of car you're looking at.
In base form and top trim the corvette is superior. The zr1 corvette has no counterpart, and the non-ZL1 camaro lacks the desirable mechanical components.
In mid trim, the ZL1 is better than the z06. the ZL1 has the proper spec tr6060, and has the proper cooling system for the LT4 engine. The z06 LT4 is poorly setup and tunes.
With automatic transmissions, the camaro is superior. the a10 is superior to the z8 in every aspect.
For you, the C7 grandsport and camaro SS fall into that closer to base trim category. The C7 is better.
>>
>>28700453
>the ZL1 has the proper spec tr6060
Isn't the 7MT in the C7 basically just TR-6060 with 7th gear?

This will probably suprise some people, but I own a c7z06 and my wife has a lt1 Camaro. I owned a ct4v blackwing with a clutch before my vette that is also alpha chassis

The alpha chassis to me is better than the c7. The chassis is more commutative, more forgiving concerning mid corner corrections, and imho the steering also feels better

C7 vettes mog 6th gen Camaros around a track, but I prefer the feel of a 6th gen/alpha. The gearing is also better with the manual alphas. Corvette gearing is sooooo long.

I have yet to drive a Camaro zl1, but it has to be the best driving experience under 100k. The thing is…..6th gen’s are a heavier, and also at the end of the day, they are slightly shittier imho trim wise

God speed mein niegar

Pic rel was my 4v blackwing. I came from a f80 m3 comp, and the blackwing’s chassis was so fucking good. It felt amazing, and you could play around at the end of the limit. The car was very balanced. If it had a v8 I would have kept it.

C7’s, especially the z06 is an absolute handful. You need r888r’s to put the power down. Wirh rhe c7 chassis and sticky rubber, you are going sooo fucking fast, with so much energy that you need to think ahead and be a lot more smooth.

Like I said though, look up lap times and corvettes are fucking monsters. C7 grandsports murder anything close to them for the money.

Op…. I would get a c7 gs manual. Iv had “nice” cars, but as gay as it sounds, the c7 has this exotic vibe. I get tons of compliments. The design elements like the hood, the rear fender airscoops….. c7’s look like a supercar from a lot of angles

Im hoping my wife gets some decent raises in the coming years so she can trade her lt1 in for a zl1.

>Its mostly older people who can afford a car that starts in the 70s
No shit retard, low IQ poor people like you find this mind blowing which blows my mind. Just say you cant afford a corvette and if you cant afford it then it must be shit. Only cars you can afford are good after all! kek poor people and their cope. Im 30 and getting a 2026 corvette, must suck to be poor

>getting a c8
>has superiority complex and thinks buying a 75k car makes him DATDUDE

C8’s are gay. I will even go as far as to say a c8z06 is boarderline faggy. Muh flat plane crank, muh no torque. On to the c8

>no clutch
>already dated looks
>no classic fr chassis
>chassis that understeers, and lacks the ability to tuck/rotate due to mid engine traction
>obnoxious try hard interior

Best vet ever made was a c6 zr1. But I would take a mint low mile c7 GS over a c8 ALL DAY.

Pic rel is a bolt on c7 z06 manual in nitto 555r2’s getting air under the tires.

Skill issue to some. Turning fast laps is cool. But sometimes at a track day or an autocross, it’s more fun to throw the car around a bit, trail braking, get in the go pedal hard and early to get the rear end out ect
