Over a long enough time period, does this leaky piece of dogshit require a $5k+ total engine reseal?
Just let it leak. A small drip here and there who gives a shit. A steady stream of oil that's a real problem. Mine leaks, I'm not doing anything about it. Also change your vvti oil line on the back from rubber to single piece steel if you haven't already. This only affects the earlier models. That's about the worst thing on these engines and is easily repaired. These things are dumb stupid reliable.

All engines will require reseals. Yes, the 2GR timing covers are a pattern failure area. Clean it off, establish leak rate. Most seep over long periods of time and aren't an issue if you just spray that area and the power steering pump area with brake clean every other year. Depending on where you live, this will allow your 2GR vehicle to rot out before needing the correct the leak.
