Why does no one use their cars for decades anymore? People switch up constantly like every 3-5 years now. I'm still driving my 03 Civic, but I'm replacing it with a new car that'll be driven for another 10-15 years.
>>28699408Everything wrong with the new car market for the past 20 years has been due to women, their acquiescent cvck husbands, and soillennial tech bros
>cars for decades anymore>the data show that car age has consistently risen since the 60s Let me guess your thread based on a completely false premise is going to get 300 replies Kill yourself OP
>>28699424The average age of a used car and the frequency with which it changes ownership are two completely different concepts, anon.>>28699408I maintain my sports cars very well and could easily drive them for 10+ years, but it just so happens that every 5-7 years I come across an amazing deal on a sports car with better performance than my current one and my maintenance skills mean that my current car basically hasn't depreciated.I have a remote job so I don't spend over an hour in my car every day, and therefore don't feel the need to have the latest tech/convenience features like the average consumer.I also have a family hand-me-down truck and van that were bought in the 00s and do their jobs of hauling stuff perfectly fine, so there's no point in upgrading
>>28699408the same reason why people don't keep their phones for more than 2-3 yearsconsoom to 'upgrade' for features you'll never use, and fear of owning a car outside warranty period
>>28699439my last phone was a Galaxy 7, and I stupidly bought a Flip5 for peanuts because I was sick of charging the fucker 6 times a day. the only reason I'll probably pitch it at around year 3 of ownership is the screen tearing that's starting across the hinge. I also keep cars for 10+ years, and would for longer if rust wasn't a pertinent issue here. here's hoping an annual crown spray will keep my current shitbox around for over 15 years
Are you a woman? Does it make you panic if you're not doing the exact same thing at the exact same time as the other women on your phone?Who cares? Yes, you can drive almost any Camry from the last 30 years for the next 30 years if you really want to. Enjoy!
>>28699408>>28699424I think that's just exclusive to the USA in the rest of the world it was different most, people only changed when their car was falling apart
>>28699493A lot of the EU is more strict on inspections iirc so keeping old shitboxes road legal is more expensive than just consooooming
>>28699500we're talking about way back in the day not now
>>28699418fpbp. cars are now appliances. This is somehow "good for the environment"
>>28699408I recently replaced a 2002 car with a 2017
>>28699408>>28699624bro what. trading in your car every few years has been a thing since at least the 60s
>>28699408>now
>>28699436>performance is the only thing that mattersWhat a sad way to live
I've had two cares, only owned one and it'll be this one forever unless something bad happens to me like getting married or crashing.
>>28699408always have been wait until you find about the 50s and 60s were automakers were updating their cars on a yearly basis
>>28699424The average age of a car is about 13 years in the US. What that tells me is the average age of a car is being held up by these golden age cars from 2000-2010 that don't die meanwhile new cars get totaled by a broken tail light
>>28699855Not really if you think about it. If you have the option of driving a performance car you won't chose the cuckbox/rattletrap. Well normal men wouldn't, you (wrenchlet sojbean enjoyer) would obviously chose the cuckbox since its better on fuel or more practical or some shit, not really sure because I can't fathom being a little tranny like you.
>>28700079Eschewing driving feel for performance is retarded unless you race cars professionally. You know, for money
>>28699779I recently replaced a 2013 goyota gs350 with a perfect-out-of-the-box STRAIGHT SIX E39 530i from 2001The E39 is better in every way except straight line speed
>>28699408Cars are being kept longer than everTHOUGHitsobe because new cars are mostly ugly slow and gay ipad bullshits on wheels. Mostly
>>28700097>on wheels>on fuckin STILTS like some kind have fuckin MONSTER TRUCKFixed that for myself
>>28699436>The average age of a used car and the frequency with which it changes ownership are two completely different concepts, anonYou got me, but you still need proof that people are changing their used cars more frequently when i would only imagine that it would follow the same trend as the rate of new car purchases...
>>28700072if new cars get totaled easily then people would be constantly buying new cars to replace them retard
