I guess this maybe the right place to ask.

Looking for an open world racing game that uses real cars and has a huge map.
Bigger the better so to speak.
Something before 2016 to run on my ROG Ally X that I would play in bed. Bonus for being able to cruise or just do shit.

In the interest of not killing yourself, do a rotation of Sardegna WTC800, Spa WTC800, and Le Mans WTC700. The first one is the fastest earner but it's also the shortest rate and you'll get sick of it quickly. The other two aren't too terribly far behind.

you add entries in the cars' setup.ini file

yes that the only way, and is how it is done. if you want a game to not be stupid you have to mod the stupid out of it.
it is fine to copy and paste the setup.ini from a different car however you may find the default ranges are not appropriate and you may have to change them anyway.

I am eager to announce the revival of OVG HILLCLIMB. And this time, it will be a once a month special event

Introducing OVG HILLCLIMB CUP, A monthly bring-your-own-car event in Assetto Corsa, with a focus on fully built hillclimb vehicles and locations.

Regulations and track calendar is currently TBD, but regulations will most likely be roughly a 99% carry-over from tes's 2022 Pikes Peak hillclimb. BOP however will be different, we will be using more realistic parameters this time around, and the new spec tire will have more realistic behavior. The rulebook will also be updated with a few new regulations based on lessons my beta testers and I learned from that event, aimed at leveling the playing field.

I will also be targeting to host the first monthly event this Jan 2026 as Nov 2025 and Dec 2025 might be busy months for you all, and I am currently still playtesting BOP and shortlisted tracks.

READ THE WIKI FOR THE RULES

(2022 Pikes Peak wiki page linked for the meantime as full rulebook is not finalized yet)

Early Q&A for OVG HILLCLIMB CUP

>I'm too lazy to make a car myself, wat do?
Ask anyone in the mattermost for help or if they have a spare car, or wait for me to make some premade cars for the event as I will likely make a few.

>Can I use my old 2022 Pikes Peak car?
Yes, but with adjustments to suit new regulations/BOP parameters.

>Can I use someone else's 2022 Pikes Peak car?
Only if that car's owner agrees to it. Ping him in ~Racing Games General of the /ovg/ mattermost so that I can see whether permission is given or not. 2022 Pikes Peak participants reserve the right to refuse this request for any given reason.

>Will the BOP/regs change month to month?
Yes and no. Depending on how I structure the calendar, we may have consecutive months using the same BOP/regs, with some curveballs in between with some changes, like for example, lower max HP or an entirely different spec tire.

With the way the BMW is driving, I am not surprised. He is kinda pushing the dude and leaving him no space. No courtesy.
Yet I imagine he expects courtesy not to be pitted when he presents his backwheeusy.

the sim gear is all gay larping from retards who literally don't understand how video games work and think having a very complicated controller somehow improves the ffb of a 15 or 20 year old simulator when in reality you should get good with minimal distraction first and then buy upgrades as necessary if you want to feel more. ffb is one thing but if you can't drive the car without buttshakers and jimmy rustlers then you can't drive at all and no overpriced simrig shit will help you. it's that simple.

you can't get good at something you don't do
if you aren't gitting gud there is no point in doing anything
even if you don't set out to win a race on purpose sometimes, you should do everything you can to improve your chances. you have to go for the gap that exists. the moment you hesitate, you are no longer a racing driver, just a passenger.

He takes everything way too seriously, first it was counter strike, then racing sims, now it's fightan games and he keeps pestering me to buy a ps5 and get tekken. Yes he's got one of those arcade stick setups.
Only fightan game I play is Dead or Alive and the first PS3 entry was top tier because you could shake the controller to jiggle everyones boobs, except with Marie Rose.

having fun should be the thing one takes most seriously. you should always strive to be the best at whatever fun you have, too. not just to beat people or to grow yourself but to build new ways of having fun. with modern sims and all the user-created content you can build yourself experiences that were merely dreams of gamers from 30 years ago. yes you have to do it yourself, it's part of the fun.

>uuhh mee moo io mee moo uhh dunt curr im having fun judt wadch wid me ai driburr ;))))

>hes a competinigger
Yes, that's the word I was looking for, tourneyfag or whatever it used to be called.
Played csgo almost religiously, comp only till he hit whatever the top rank was called, global elite I think, played overwatch till top rank and so on.
A lost cause I know.

>>28701646
Back when WipEout 2048 was new, I ranked 3rd on Sol A+ time trial with a Qirex Agility just to prove everyone that I was good at it.
Then the leaderboards got taken over by AG-Sys homos, pushing me to 5th.
I think I managed an almost similar time with the Pirhana prototype, that's about it for my tryhard faggotry.
>>
>>28701646
>having fun should be the thing one takes most seriously.
oh I do, which is why I don't fall for the common trap that is:
>you should always strive to be the best at whatever fun you have, too.
>with modern sims and all the user-created content you can build yourself experiences that were merely dreams of gamers from 30 years ago.
Driving an MR2AW11 is still a dream.
>yes you have to do it yourself, it's part of the fun.
I lack the competence to make a good mod of a car I care about. The time and effort means somebody more knowledgeable and experienced should do it.
The best I can do is make a car setup that fits me, or practice driving to handle a particular car.
>>28701664
>A lost cause I know.
Well there is no changing them. You should let them have fun their way, but don't get suckered into it yourself if that's not the life you want to live.
Personally I think it's more sensible to farm a sense of achievement by overcoming real life challenges and leaving videogames for fun times.
Rather than being mediocre at life and trying to compensate by farming achievements in a virtual world.
>>
>>28701552
hard to recommend a t300 brand new these days when entry level DD bases are the same price now, including pedals. t300 is also infamously known for overheating and having ffb fade. If you wanna stick with turdmaster, the t598 isn't that much more expensive than a t300 and will be a lot better.
>>
>>28701668
> The time and effort means somebody more knowledgeable and experienced should do it.
it doesn't take any time or effort
the knowledge and experience is free.

>Personally I think it's more sensible to farm a sense of achievement by overcoming real life challenges and leaving videogames for fun times.

>it doesn't take any time or effort
Sure it does.
You for one need to have a very good understanding of the car you are trying to recreate digitally.
Second off you need to know how AC modding works.
Both take time and effort to acquire.
>the knowledge and experience is free.

Based. When I do Spa 800 it's so comfy.
Though I feel short changed if the rain during the night is not heavy enough for inters. A couple of times, I've made just one stop at half distance.
For once, I had a non straight forward win this morning. I kept losing the back end of the Jag XJR-9, despite a set-up change, so was still 20+ seconds behind the leaders before the rain came in. Then it turned out to miss the track, so my inters were ruined by the time the real storm hit and was forced to pit for new ones. It was weird to be 30-75 seconds the leader.
Thankfully, I could keep going and everyone pitted and also lost time with weird tyre selections. I had turned the engine up from the usual FM6 to FM4. Then it dried out, so I pitted for tyres. Then changed again for the morning rain. Ended up half a lap in front and they got the chequered flag a lap before the end, so I officially won by a lap. I have since fixed the Jag set-up in a private online lobby, with a much more stable rear; so I will have a less crazy run tomorrow.
>>
>>28699595
>>28699666
Yeah, this. Though I did Sardegna 800 so many times, I am very sick of it.
Le Mans 700 is more interesting, but can be frustrating given the lack of laps, and changeable weather.
I have found that Spa 800 is much more satisfying. Rain usually comes once or twice, but the laps are short enough to not be screwed by a tyre choice.
