>changing from summer to winter tires>4 out of 5 bolts break while removing the rear right wheel>panic for 20 minutes then collect myself>remove the brake disc and caliper >drill out the broken bolts out>i finally see the light at the end of the tunnel>accidentally shut down the door>the car automatically pulls the handbrake as it always does>rear right electric hand brake engages without disc to stop it and continues to spin which in turn completely ruins the threads on the lug and bolt that drives the piston>it only stops after i enter the car, turn it on and manually release the handbrake>as i was pressing down on the brake pedal to start the car i notice it falls to the floor with almost no effort at all>handbrake error on the dashboard>search for rebuild kit>it doesnt include the part that i need>order a replacement brake caliper from a junkyard>ff 24 hours>the new used brake caliper arrived >exactly the same>mount it>bleed it using bleeding valve>some air comes out>add maybe 200 ml of brake fluid (about the same that i lost when i removed the brake caliper)>pumping the brake it gets hard to press and then goes soft again>car barely stops and brake pedal remains soft>there is no errors on the dashboard at all, it went out in its own after restarting the carthere are no leaks from the new brake caliper, brake fluid level is ok and the fact that there is no errors leads me to believe that there is air trapped in the system, but im not an expert so i need help. is it possible that i need to bleed air from all 4 brake calipers now? after online search i found that sequence for bleeding the system is rear right>rear left>front left>front right. (when all the fluid is changed). i didnt lose that much and rear right is the farthest away point, could it really be that air went all the way to the front brakes? car stops really bad now, im sure that font brakes are somehow affected, even if rear right wasnt working at all it would stop better

>>28699792>4 out of 5 bolts break while removing the rear right wheelHOW did that even happen? What tool(s) did you use?I've been wrenching on all sorts of crusty euro cars for years and never got close to snapping one of those off. Compressed air impact wrench or by hand
>>28699909that's the awd model, in fact an elusive super track pack awd, an exclusive machine rarer than a hellcat or any blebian m-series.
>>28699911>HOW did that even happen? What tool(s) did you use?>I've been wrenching on all sorts of crusty euro cars for years and never got close to snapping one of those off. i was the last person to change the wheels, 6 or 7 months ago, winter to summer. i used pic related, without extending the handle to tighten the bolts. (when i remove them i extend it to make it easier). last time everything went smoothly. this time around i removed the wheel and when i tried to mount the new one i could only get 2 bolts to start threading. at first i thought the wheel slightly moved and there was a third plate behind that was out of alignement so i started the car and put it in neutral and started to spin the disc to get them all aligned, but of course i was unable and only then i noticed the removed bolts were different length. 3 were short, 1 was cracked and it broken in half when i hit it with a hammer and only 1 was oki was surprised that they didnt fall out on their own, but i guess they had like 1 mm of thread holding them. 2 of the bolts left inside were rusted, 1 was clean so i suspect that one broke when i was removing it and as i said, 2 came out whole (1 ok, one cracked). i really dont think i over-tightened them the last time because all of the failures happend on this one wheel only (i dont use torque wrench so i cant be certain, but again i doubt it). friend tells me it is possible for this to happen if the car starts sliding sideways and tire hits something which causes it to stop abruptly. this never happened to me. i did borrow a car out a few times tho, ofc nobody that drove it ever said anything about something like that happening and all the wheels, including the one on the rear right are in pristine condition, no traces of any impact at allneedless to say i replaced all of the bolts (including the ones on the other wheels) with brand new ones. oldo nes felt normal to me when i was drilling them out, doubt they were chinesium ones
>>28699939im so thankful i didnt lose a wheel while i was driving the car. what a stupid way to go or get injured would that be
>>28699939Did you use a torque wrench and did you grease up the bolts a little when installed the wheels last spring?
>>28699939>I just unga bunga my shitInvest in a torque wrench
>>28700253Not OP, but I'm a wrenchlet gearing up to start changing my wheels come next spring. I'm planning on buying a torque wrench, but first I'm hearing about greasing the bolts. Got any best practices to share?
>>28699936And did you talk to the owner? Or just park next to his car (which is cooler than yours), take a picture, and post it on here?
Op hereBled the system from all 4 wheels multiple times. Some air came out from the rear right one, nothing from the rest. Car can reliably stop now, but the brake pedal still feels soft and i have to press it almost half way before it starts breaking. When i press as hard as i can it does engage abs and stops reasonably well, but i still feel it isnt 100%Before all this i couldnt with all my force fully press the brake to the floor, and now i can. Is there anything else i can try before i take it to the dealership?
Why the fuck would drill out a wheel stud>germ slopTake it to the dealer at this point
>>28702080>Why the fuck would drill out a wheel studWho said anyrhing about drilling out studs?
>>28702083Misread wheel bolt for stud and forgot euro cars did that, I see my error
>>28699807Lmao well said girlfriend
>>28699939Holifuck. you know about torque specs right?
>>28702563Just don't tighten them like a gorilla.
>>28702565Bullshit. They all have to be tighten to exactly the same torque if not some are more tigthen than others and that makes them wobbly or something
Been using this stuff on lug nuts since 1981. And just about every bolt on every bicycle since my banana seat Schwinn. Can recommend.
