Mercedes-Benz have just confirmed they are not buying an engine from BMW (the B48) specifically for their A-classes and called these news just bad rumors. Benz bros, we are saved.

german automakers are heading towards bankruptcy anyway. their lunatic government has embraced net zero, and is allowing chinese EV imports.
It's literally over. Porsche will survive as a niche outlet, like Lotus. But BMW and Mercedes will crumble under their own weight, unable to compete in the EV era with cheap chink imports
