What's stopping me from buying one of these electric turbos, turning it into a gas turbine, and using that to charge my EV? Apart from crippling retardation?

>what's 2+2? and don't give me that 4 bullshit

DC generators aren't very efficient
>>

Do it.
Billion dollar idea.
Cant believe nobody has thought of it before....
>>
>>28701697
That's not a turbine, if it was it would make 100x the power in the same sized package

You dont understand what a turbine engine is, why theyre used in specific applications or why they're NOT used in others.
Go back to playing with your Legos little kid.

They're not used in hybrid cars because of emissions.
>>
>>28701431
I always thought it was so crazy that in f1 where every gram matters, someone thought about strapping an entire hybrid system to an f1 car and the idea stuck
>>
>>28701431
It'll over heat.
>>
>>28702071
Theyre not used in cars because theyre inefficient, cant pass noise regulations and are extremely slow to spool.

Look up a YouTube video on a turbine R/C plane then come back and we'll discuss it more.

they're using in road vehicles

M1 Abrams goes 0-20 in 6 seconds, which for 55 tons isnt that bad. Tesla's semi which is advertised as having silly fast acceleration for a class 8 truck does 0-60 in 20 seconds, so slower than the turbine in an Abrams.

>M1 Abrams
I was in an armored unit.
That 0-20 time was after the engine spooled up for 10 seconds from idle to develop enough power to get it to move.
I literally dealt with them daily.

Once again you dont understand the dynamics of turbines.

To what end? Are existing gas generators a little too efficient and affordable for your liking?
>>
Unless you're getting free fuel, the odds of you beating the price of municipal power with your own generator (standard or turbine) are slim.

If you're using it to charge an electric powerplant then spool time doesn't really matter, you just start it up and run it at a steady speed.
They are loud as fuck tho. It will get old.
