What's work like in one of these things?
>>28702182No clue – I’m an American, driving a conventional semi truck, which is like sleeping in a closet.
>>28702182Who knows but there's one in my area who always hauls jeep products and gets real mad when I tell him he's got a load of dogshit on over the CB
I can’t risk getting onto a dedicated account, if I’m wanting to become a fuel hauler, one day. I better stick with OTR.
What the fuck an employer actually replied to my application.Talked a bit in text with the recruiter guy, he said >it's fine I'm a beginner, they can teach me >they work with box trailers, containers, tarped trailers depending on the particular client I'm supposed to call back on thursday.Kinda small company but they're advertising good wages.
>>28702348How long have you been in the closet?
>>28703790Smartass
>haven’t parallel parked since trucking school>manage to pull it off at a rest areaThis isn’t one of those never-forgetting-how-to-ride-a-bike moments – how the fuck was I able to pull that off without fucking anything up?
>>28703982Parallel is easy as fuck doe with all the mirrors you have. Being fresh out of driving school what really scares me is having to back up a long trailer in between 2 others for example.
>>28703982Wait now that I think about it the parralel park trick we're taught here in Europe might not be possible with the long-nosed jew trucks in America...
>>28704002You think straight line backing is difficult?
>>28704010No, but 45° because you don't have enough space looks scary.
>>28704002My achilles heel back in the day used to be angled parking spots in very tight areas, but I’ve encountered my nemesis again, recently, and fucking conquered it! It just shows how much I’ve improved as a truck driver after all these months. I just need to watch myself and become complacent.Complacency can be dangerous for truck drivers!
>>28703738Smaller companies are either based as fuck or total dogshit. You should talk to them. Just ask the right questions, and if possible talk to one of their drivers and see how they like it. >>28704024>got complacent and accidentallied a wordIt's over, surrender your license to the dmv immediately
>>28703738Shop around and call different companies. Don't get on with the first place that calls you back, these places are DESPERATE for drivers. Some of the national outfits do actually treat their drivers pretty well.
>>28704023Ah, so you've never touched a truck yet. That's how you park in every single truck stop and every single shipper, sorry.Honest answer: Go play a truck simulator. Get into the mindset that your cab drive tires are the steering tires of the trailer.
>>28704404I've noticed that the first guy called me back after I uploaded a CV document so I tried submitting more applications like that and holy shit now I've got like 10 replies. I'm gonna have to pick and choose who I call back tomorrow.
>>28704417Call them all back. Ask a lot of questions. Ask them how they'll move you down to the headquarters, plane or bus?Ask them if you've got a roommate in the training hotelAsk them what kinds of dedicated routes they have around the country and if they do hazmat training, tanker training, etcI dunno man, ask chatGPT for a list of questions, I've been out of trucking for a decade
See this shit just happened in Louisville? This is why I quit. Planes always trying to hit me everyday
>>28704465Oh fuck, I was driving down I-81 earlier, when I saw Louisville signs for I-64.Which truck stop is that one? Better not be the Pilot north of Louisville, since that truck stop saved my ass from an imminent HOS violation back in May.
>>28704647I’m a fucking retard – that’s clearly a drop yard and not a truck stop. Not my concern, anymore.
>mega remotely installs a weather app onto smart dash cam>volume is too low to safely hear any weather alerts even when radio is on mute>always gives me alerts in regions I’m nowhere near
Somehow managed to land an in-person interview at one of the best trucking companies in the country. Gonna meet with them on Tuesday.
Do truck drivers carry a weapon to protect themselves from niggers who want to hijack their truck?
>>28706412Company policy bans weapons, so no. I only have a pocket knife, mallet, wasp spray, and a breaker bar that I can potentially use in self defense.
>>28706430“Forbidden” is a better word for it. While I could carry a gun and no one outside the company would give a shit (as long as I don’t use it, of course) if they spot it in my tractor, it will be a fireable offense if someone at a terminal spotted it.
>>28706412Back when I was last mile delivery in some shit parts of PA I carried a 6 D cell maglite from my belt, fucker was longer than my forearm and it certainly sent a message to any crackheads who thought I was easy pay cause I was at work. Now that i do different loads that don't go to extraordinary shitholes I only carry a small can of pepper spray and a hateful right hook
How are so many drivers able to keep in shape working 14 hours a day? Especially when you consider half the time OTR you’re stuck somewhere without showers. Are they just sweating their asses off after going 1-2 days without a shower?
>>28707536Part of it is being too busy going to your destination that you end up skipping meals. And what makes you think semi trucks don’t have a/c to keep us cool?
>>28702182>july>bunk AC busts>november>bunk heater busts>mfw
Fuck US Foods in Pittston PA. Those tight fucking alley backs should be illegal for 70' trucks. Its a wonder I made it in with only 10 minutes, 2 near misses on the dude next to me and a smoked clutch.
>>28707536Its easy to gain weight if you eat when you're bored but if you make nothing from a mega like I did I was too broke to snackmax so really all I ate was gum and a peanut butter sandwich or tuna packet at the end of the day. You dont really use a whole lot of calories sittin there especially if youre tanker like me.>>28707862I highly recommend https://www.coleman.com/camp-sports/sleeping-bags-beds/sleeping-bags-by-temp/north-rim-adult-mummy-sleeping-bag/SAP_2205651.html I carried one of these in my sleeper and never even used the bunk heater (if it worked i couldn't tell ya) July however really does just suck ain't found a solution to the deep south and its humidity
>>28708019Can't stand bein swaddled, I'm a tosser and turner big time. My future wifes gonna fuckin hate sleepin with me. Just gonna bobtail to wallyworld and get a space heater that won't set my truck on fire.
I'm the guy that was asking about paid CDL training programs for otr in the last thread...Got the test for my CLP at the DMV scheduled. Had to book an appointment in advance. Soonest I could get was 11 days out. Been drilling practice tests every day to make sure I pass 1st try.Should I wait until I have my CLP to apply? From what I've read these companies won't consider you if you don't have it yet?
>>28708026Project farm recently had a video on those, I personally trust his opinion and test techniques and would recommend giving that video a watch before jumping on whatever is cheapest at the ol everything store
>>28706412Depends on what you're doing and where you work. If you're doing OTR and could be in 49 different states you likely don't because new jersey are faggots. If you can avoid driving through their state at all let alone picking up or delivering there then you can legally have a revolver or double barrel shotty as long as it's in a locked case unloaded with the ammo in a separate locked container while you're driving, and you just take it out and load it when you're on your 10 for things that go bump in the night. If you're only doing regional in the south then you can have whatever the hell you want loaded and ready to rock accessible at all times. Realistically, just don't go places or stay at places that you'll need it and you'll be fine. You can kill whoever needs killing with a hammer about 99% of the time and if someone gets the drop on you with a gun of their own it really doesn't matter what you're carrying.
>learning to truck>second day of training>instructor takes me on gravel road to practice shifting>float up and down through gears smoothly >"you seem like you're getting it anon, let's drive into town and practice some turns">reach intersection with traffic>immediately stop being able to find gears, muscle memory from driving car takes over, trying putting it in low when I want 2, stall in middle of 4 way stop, get honked atMight as well dip myself in brown paint because I turned into a third worlder
>>28708722Manual is really only worth it if you're at a smaller company that can't afford new trucks or you're hauling really heavy shit and need the extra control. And even then most autos can be put in manual mode anyways.
>BROOOO YOU GOTTA BE AT THE SHOP AT 8AM BRO>Get to shop>We iz firs cum firs serv, jus ge' n lahn sirI hate this gay nigger earth
>>28709091Be grateful. It’s all fun and games until you arrive late.
>>28706457>muh company policyYou know how I can tell you're a rookie?
>>28708722You'll be fine, my first road experience with manual in school was going up a snowy mountain pass and my second was going up and down the highway getting off at every exit down through all the gears and then getting back on coming up all the gears, kinda backwards in my head but it breaks the ego which can be an important part of learning>>28708753This guy is retarded, learn all you can even if there's a snowflakes chance in hell you'll use it. if you never use a tourniquet once in your life did you waste your time learning? I would say no but some would say otherwise>>28710166This guy's also retarded, dont do anything that'll jeopardize your chance at a good job in the future unless your life is on the line in which case good luck lol. Oldheads and trolls like to pretend they came out the cunt shiftin gears and rollin wheels but not everyone's a farmers son who's been drivin the family rig since their 10th birthday.
>>28710467It's frankly retarded that manual requires retesting. It's not that hard to do even if you have to double clutch. I'd rather not have the endorsement so I don't have to do extra work while driving and so I don't fuck my arm up from repetitive stress injuries with the amount of city driving I'm doing most of the time. It also doesn't fucking matter because in 5 years the only people still running manuals will be old fucks that refuse to give it up and heavy haul guys getting paid enough to put up with it. You can't even get a freightshaker with a manual anymore and even peterbroke are considering giving it up because not even 5% of the trucks they sell are manual. The only hard part is learning the shift pattern for whatever transmission you're using and learning how to float gears. It's literally just make busy work.
can someone tell me how the fuck im supposed to eat anything out if this fridge besides fast food and gas station slop? last trainer had a 2023 cascadia with a proper full height minifridge with a real freezer and i hope to god i get a truck like that
>>28712499Wow that looks like dogshit, the cascadia i was in had a drawer fridge that I took the shelves out of and I could fit 2 half gallons of milk plus deli meats in here. Had to bungee cord that shit closed when I wasn't using it though cause I'd hit bumps on on-ramps and it would slide open behind me had to carry a stick on the passenger seat to push it closed if it happened in a place I couldn't whip the truck to close it
I, a greenhorn, might be doing something smart, for once – I’m clearing my air tanks of moisture and only setting my tractor brakes for parking for the night. It’s currently below freezing, so I’m doing what I can to prevent any delays in the morning by not setting my trailer brakes, which may freeze overnight.
>install cb radio>switch it on>tune to channel 19>*garbled static*>”Why aren’t your trailer lights on, driver?”>”Mind your own business.”>”Oh, not only can you not drive a truck, YOU’RE A FUCKING WO~”>*garbled static intensifies*
I've decided that I won't be one of those "high and mighty" truck drivers. Truck driving wasn't my first or third choice. It was "everything else didn't work and I've got nothing to lose so why not try truck driving"...The world is a golem factory cranking out golems with pain generators working overtime.
>>28713302Same boat as you brother. I really don't get people who develop a god complex off this job.
>>28702348>this nigga sleeps in the closet LMAO
>>28713302I'm aiming to become a truck driver because I was too autistic, poor, and unambitious to make it as a pilot, and not disciplined or creative enough to be an indie game dev. I certainly won't be taking pride in this.
>>28713333I'm aiming to become a truck driver because it's something to do other than killing myself which I might do anyway
>>28713235First time I heard someone get called a nigger on the cb and rage about it is when I knew this was the right career for me.
>>28713310Anyone with a class a could at will kill themselves and at least half a dozen people, just on a whim. Let the crazy fuckers hype themselves up about it. Keeps them from going through with it. Anyone with a brain knows it's a bottom feeder absolute last resort career path only suitable for broken people.
>>28713333Checked, and if you can be a trucker you can pretty easily be a pilot. The jobs are rather similar and a full pretrip is more involved for a semi and trailer than it is for a plane. >>28713382I'm a trucker because it means I can afford liquor and chicken wings and whores and vidya and don't have to waste money on rent. And I don't have to talk to anybody if I don't want to. Honestly once I'm an O/O I'm gonna start smoking reefer again instead of just hauling it. Life sucks and I have no family or friends so it's just dopamine maxing until I'm too old to do this anymore at which point I'm buying an over under and some brenneke's and walking into the woods and calling it a night.
>>28712982>wake up>notice a message on the instrument panel>LOW AIR PRESSURE
>>28713507It didn’t matter, as the brakes didn’t freeze.
>told my dispatch to go fuck themselves then dropped off the truck at the terminal>HR woman called me begging for me to come back (she sounded pretty, and young too!)Heh… You know you still got it when even the HR ladies want you.
>joined current company because no micromanagement and no nanny cams>found out yesterday we're getting nanny cams because some greenhorns are getting on our insurance>and my insurance is going up again despite having a flawless recordThanks Biden
>>28702182Its that time of year again where I can NEVER keep my windows clean. How the hell do I stop this from happening every time I use my windscreen washer? Is there something I can add to the fluid to stop it staining? It gets all over the windows and mirrors and makes it difficult to see shit.
>>28712499I have one of these and you would be surprised what you can fit in them. They keep drinks cold and leftovers fresh. The freezer is enough for a pint of ice cream. They're actually not that bad and it keeps me out of the truck stops most of the time.
>>28713399Is the CB always just like XBox Live MW2 lobby chat? I might go and get one.
Can someone explain to me why almost every truck stop has decided to undergo renovations, at the same fucking time, closing their fucking showers?
>>28714314That's salt mate, anything youre adding to your wiper fluid will do way more damage than help, I had considered maybe searching up some kind of corner extender so the spray gets redirected lower or higher but I soon decided it wasn't worth the effort
>>28714319I always make an effort to make it so, usually when Im leaving a truck stop for the night ill ask what everyones favorite slur is
>>28714316thats cool you can put your left over pizza hut in the fridge for later. can you actually keep enough things in it so you dont have to eat gas station slop?>the freezer is enough for a pint of ice creamand thats it lmao. lmk when you can put a weeks worth of meat and quick frozen things in it along with breakfast foods like eggs and milk in the fridge part>drinksthe only thing you need is water and ill be getting that from bagged ice i put in my 5 gallon water cooler
>>28714319It's not always like that, it's often srs bidness if you're around a bad wreck or something, but otherwise yeah it's pretty lulzy. My favorite is when the nigs get uppity and start shitting on whitey after someone drops an n-bomb.
>>28714847>being this assblastedYou can easily keep a weeks worth of non frozen groceries in it, and frankly, truck stop food isn't that bad nowadays. Unless you're fucking broke and are at the mercy of whatever crack team of groids is manning the glizzy grills at the loves along your route. The worst is when the topping bar has nothing in it and the chilli cheese dispenser is empty so you have to rawdog your dawg with just mustard and mayo. That's when I nuke the lot with the shit bucket on my way out.
>>28714319IME, out on the highways it's usually just operational info like gators in X lane, breakdown with his hanging out in the lane at mmX, etc. Large cities like Chicago sometimes develop base stations that troll. The most shit talking was always in backups where drivers had time to bug each other. Just saying a president's name is enough to set off a shitstorm most times if they're not already going when you get there.>key up >"Biden"/"Trump">ten minutes of Reeeeeeeeeeee! follows
>>28714769>ill ask what everyones favorite slur isdo an alphabet singalong>a is for...>*everyone else chimes in*i bet you n will be a real party
Ever driven on I-69?It’s nice.
>>28715259Coming through Oklahoma? It's real nice. Smooth as butter. The 80 weed dispensaries you pass on the smoothest section must be really raking in the tax revenue for the state to keep their roads in such good condition.
>>28715333Interstate 69, not US Route 69.There’s a small portion of it along I-55 in Memphis. It’s not exactly smooth, but I wanted to make a cheap pun about it.
>>28715333I like US69 primarilly because of Eufaula and Canadian.
>2nd week of driving for my first truck job>hit a guy's mirror backing into a parking spot>it was an older peterbilti couldn't handle the shame and had to quit. genuinely wakes me up at night thinking about that shit.
>>28715462That’s okay, anon. My rear outer tandem tire went off road a little bit, turning, so I an hero’d on the spot. Suicide is better than risking termination.
Just got to the iron skillet and got me the bacon jam burg with an extra side of mac n cheese. Fiddina boughta be eatin good tonight.
>>28715776It was 26$ for a burger and fries with a side of mac n cheese and they charged me for the fries when they're supposed to come with the meal. Still left a 7$ tip tho.
Day 5 of semi-truck driving lessons and I've finally stopped fucking up my downshifts. Getting decent at blind side trailer backing as well.
>>28715944The secret to backing is being able to imagine your drive tires as being the steer tires for your trailer like it's a big ass bus and never becoming such a lazy nigger that you won't get the fuck out and look if you're ever unsure about things.
>>28714949>gas station food is good actually, unless youre broke LMAOi can make food twice as good for half the price, plus not being made from mystery meat products, all contained on my truck. the only thing ill need truck stops for are fuel, shitting, and showering
>>28715972I just do the "hands on bottom of wheel, point thumb in direction I want trailer to go" trick. >never becoming such a lazy nigger that you won't get the fuck out and look if you're ever unsure about thingsSomething about getting in and out of the truck in one fluid motion is oddly satisfying. I am a GOAL enjoyer.
>>28716015Enjoy the roaches, stinky truck, and inevitably getting sick when you trust your fridge for anything more than keeping leftovers for a night. >>28716021Based. Pretty much every single time someone hits something backing a trailer it could have been avoided if they had just gotten out and looked.
>>28715972>>28716021i always figured it's just like a really long forklift
>>28716039i cant imagine how dirty your house is if you think preparing food is stinky, attracts insects, and leads to sickness bc you dont know how to manage temps and expiry dates. unless you exclusively eat out every day, in which case youre 400lbs and shit in buckets and your opinion can be safely disregarded
>>28716084NTA, and not a trucker, but how the fuck are you washing and drying plates. just filling a couple 5 gallon buckets and using a roll of paper towels every day
>>28716094i could probably bring them with me while i shower or any truck stop bathroom. if i was really down bad i could use the spigots at the fuel islands if it isnt too crowded. Alternatively id have disposable wares, although wasteful and suboptimal
>>28716109>brings his dishes in the shower>or uses the diesel contaminated superfund site spigot water>yet calls me a gross retard
I keep a couple cases of mre's in the truck in case I get fucked or stranded that way I've got a months worth of food at all times along with a case of water, and I've got other snacks as well to round out my calorie count, but otherwise I don't cook in my truck because I keep it as clean as possible at all times and I don't want it to stink. You can eat healthy just fine this way, hell I count my calories every single day so I don't turn into a fat fuckin hog, and it really isn't that much more expensive if at all more expensive than buying groceries for a week unless you're eating nothing but rice and beans and ramen. I spend 150$ a week on food or less and that's counting energy drinks too, maybe 200-250$ on the odd week I say fuck it and go get hammered at the bar on my 34 and have a cheat meal.
>>28716387not directly in the shower you retard. id use the sink in the shower room. the water that comes out of the spigot is literally the same water for showering. youre still a gross retard bc you dont clean your truck to the point you attract roaches
>>28716109Wish these were sold at truck stops. That and those zip lock chembags you shit in.
Is it really necessary for Illinois to have only one fucking lane open for FIFTY FUCKING MILES on I-57???
>>28716478Tax dollars all go to Chicago, please understand.
Loading here takes fucking ages
Taken from social media.
>>28716437I don't have roaches in my truck but I've seen plenty of niggers like you that like to fry up a whole ass meal in there that had them. Cooking in your truck is retarded. Get a small grill and do that shit outside the truck, or don't and enjoy the bugs.
>>28716478Illinois and Indiana are run by buttfucking morons. I loathe going to either.
>>28716575im not frying anything you turbofaggot, making instant oatmeal and cooking burgers in my toaster oven makes 0 (zero) mess. id suggest quit hanging around indians making fried shit soup and recognise not everyone is a third world barbarian that cant prepare food cleanly
>>28716598Alright that's fair. I've seen too many literal niggers frying bacon and eggs on a hot plate getting grease all over the goddamn place so my first assumption when someone says they're cooking in the truck is they're making a full on meal from scratch and making a huge fucking mess. You're just using a microwave and an analog microwave, that's not that retarded.
>>28716740i have a /diy/'d convection toaster oven with a proper thermostat and oven insulation inside of it so i can properly bake things inside of it that i plan on using instead of a microwave, along with toasting and "air frying". ill probably still make eggs and pancakes in my cast iron skillet with a camping stove thing but i like keeping oil to a absolute minimum. if anything spills im sure as hell not leaving a mess
>>28716756I'd still cook anything that required grease or oil outside of the truck so that if it spills or spatters/splatters while cooking it's nbd. You can straight up grill in the truck stop parking lot. I've seen it done several times and when I'm better off I plan on doing the same thing especially if I'm on my 34 during football season on a Sunday.
>>28716437>Not using the 200-degree hot water from the coffee machines for cleaningSome of the Love's have a good size trough by those coffee pots and you can use the hot water to wash stuff and rinse in the trough. I do all my cups with it and it's so hot it just melts everything, you honestly probably dont even need soap the water is so hot it will kill anything it touches and it melts anything sticking. >>28716740I've done a stir fry in my truck before with the windows down and that went okay. I have an induction plate that you can make a decent size stir fry in, found it on top of a fuel island pump and it was mint, I think the guy plugged it in and fried his inverter and left it, I plugged it in and it was fine, I've had it for like 3 years.
Gentlemen, it is with great pleasure that I inform you all that as of just a few minutes ago I have officially dumped 100 gallons of piss and 38 shits in various locations with only a handful of instances of it being properly disposed. IRL peepeepoopoo posting has been one of the few things making solo otr bearable. I have no intent of stopping and will be updating at my next milestone of 250 gallons.
>>28712499Portable 12v hotplate, or 120v hotplate. You can cook with these things. Chop up some veggies, rice, and a meat throw it all in raw and let it sit for 2-3 hours. Made me look forward to lunch working construction.
>>28717553Cooked food is a scam. I eat raw meat to increase my testosterone.
>>28717579I just do my trt through the mail. Have the same levels as I did when I was 17, if you hit my blanket in the bunk with a hammer it would shatter.
Had a fun day at my commercial driver training today when I found out my instructor hated indians.
Nothing fucks your day up more than finding out multiple drivers will deliver to Sam’s Club at the same time, but there’s only one door available.
Maybe get a blister on your little fingerMaybe get a blister on your thumb
Driving automatic/automated may be bottom-feeder tier, but even still, if you’re able to manually shift your transmission and don’t bother or know how to downshift for going up hills, you’re just a steering wheel holder.
I'm getting so fucking scammed with this firm. They said they're offering full training for beginners, but that training is just going with someone else on 2x week-long trips. But they didn't say anything about not having a base. Now the guy that I went with on my first trip can't take me on a second, the next leave is on FUCKING FRIDAY. So what this means is I gotta shill money out of my own pocket to book a stay at a hotel for the whole week in one of the most expensive cities here. Fuck this shit man.
>>28719305If you didn’t do any research about the company/training before signing on, then you deserved it for being a retard. Proper job training, like trucking schools, should last for at least a month to make sure drivers are able to get comfortable with operating a tractor trailer. In the meantime, accept your losses. Things are about to get rougher for you, since you didn’t seem to prepare yourself for bad situations like this.
Has anybody in history ever put a reefer trailer engine into a car? Just a random thought.
>>28719305Name em and shame em, niggy.
If one phrase can sum up my 7 months of trucking, it’s: fuck bridges.Just something about crossing them with a long wheelbase vehicle just makes them aggravating.
>>28719680Shut the fuck up Captain Shitbucket
>>28720487See, just from that response I can tell trucking isn’t for you. Like I said, it’s going to get worse and if you can’t take any criticism, you’re going to end up parking on the side of the interstate and blowing your brains out because you’re unable to cope with the stress from trucking.Man the fuck up.
If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you ought to go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross. But it's not for the timid.
>>28719680Well they didn't say anything about not having a place for drivers to stay in the announcement, but they kinda make you assume they would have one with the rest of it. So it's kind of an ommission.>Proper job training, like trucking schools, should last for at least a monthWe're in Eastern Europe bro. The schools teach you to front parralel park and drive for 45 minutes and you get a license. Employers, and this is like the best Western firms here, then give you 3 weeks of training, couple days of teaching you to park and operate the tacho machine and do papers and shit and then sending you out with other drivers. I had another employer tell me they would give me 300€ and make me drive a truck head all the way to Belgium and I'd have some guy there show me how to use everything so really this is not that bad all things considered.
>>28720764>We're in Eastern Europe broIf you have mentioned that before, then I would have left well enough alone. There are plenty of retards in America who will dive into something without checking to see if something is legitimate or there’s something off about whatever they’re trying to get into, so they deserve to be in the situation they’ve gotten themselves into. While there may be similarities between North America and Europe, things may be slightly different about how things work over on your side of the pond.Shit sucks, but I hope for the best for you, especially since you’ve gotten the info you could have gotten about the company and still got burned for it.
>>28720535you shit in a bucket lmao
>>28720951If you call a conventional flushing toilet found in most establishments a bucket, then yeah, I do shit in buckets.
>>28720971good thing i dont, a toilet is a toilet and a bucket is a bucket. normal functioning people shit in one while downie vanlife fags shit in the other
>>28721000Okay? I don’t see how that applies to me. I don’t have any buckets in my truck.
>>28719233We got to install microwave ovens, custom kitchen deliveriesWe got to move these refrigerators, we got to move these color TVs
>>28720535Literal retards and Indians do your job. Maybe remember that and adjust your tone.

>>28720911I think I'll be fine, these guys are legit by local standards. I signed like 30 different papers and got officially employed so even if the boss says I'm too shit to drive alone and fires me after the training I'm still entitled to a fair amount of money. But the guys I went with on my first trial run said I drive well so here's hoping.
>>28721293Good luck, anon.
>>28721000Checked, and they're not the bucket shitter. I am. And honestly I'd rather shit in the bucket in my truck than most of the truck stop bathrooms I see on the road. This was what I was greeted by at an onvo last night and no it wasn't mine and despite the perspective of the picture it was a solid 6" long mudmonkey on the floor with a trail of fecal matter behind it like somebody decided to take their pants off and get schwifty right on the fucking floor. I'll deuce in my truck with the ac or heat running smoking a ciggy like God intended then wipe my ass with dude wipes until it sparkles and clean my hands with a bleach wipe afterwards. Die mad about it, I've dumped more than a hundred gallons of piss and 40 shits out my window and I'm not stopping any time soon.
I need to keep my complacency in check. Getting cocky due to being confident in your driving skills can potentially ruin your trucking career.
What happened the beaner?
They found another guy to train me. I leave for Western Europe on Friday, then I'll drive around with the guy for like one more week then I get my own truck. They drop me right on the spot so there should be no more wasting money on transport or housing.
Dammit, Shitbucket-kun, did you splatter allover the fucking toilet at a Walmart DC, in Illinois?
I suck at backing. My road trainer gets mad at me. Will I ever get better?
>>28713407>Honestly once I'm an O/O I'm gonna start smoking reefer again instead of just hauling it. Life sucks and I have no family or friends so it's just dopamine maxing until I'm too old to do this anymore at which point I'm buying an over under and some brenneke's and walking into the woods and calling it a night.Holy fucking based
>>28726474If you do a thing many times you tend to get better at it.
>>28716021My way is very simple. I think I’m terms of the trailer getting out of hand and then STEPPING on it to get it to go back the way I want. If it’s going too far to the left then I jerk down on the left as much as it needs. If I want it to go more left then it’s obviously just the opposite of stepping on it.If I’m straight and I want it to go left, I obviously need to step on the right side, so the wheel is jerked right. It’s a very positive control because what the trailer’s doing is directly determining your response. “That’s too far/that’s the wrong way so STEP on that side.”
>>28726474Yup, you get better.Remember, you’re there to learn through practice so don’t be afraid to insist that you get practice. Getting some “fucking around” time where you’re skewing that trailer all around an open area from 90 degree pirouettes to S turns gets you a feel of actually driving the trailer. If your trainer won’t give you time, go over his head to the training supervisor. The company wants you trained, not for you to feel ashamed.Be bold about being bad and fix it with repeated practice.
anybody injured themselves on the road? I finished jerking it and tried to grab a paper towel to clean up. roll was pinched under the bed and didn't want to get up to get it out correctly, yanked on it until the entire roll ripped in half and hit myself in the face with my cum covered hand, busted my lip.

>>28728010Ive noticed a significant LLM presence in these threads, like last thread someone made some cringe post about helping a rookie and then throwing his number away but the AI doesn't know that a dropped trailer weighs near 54 thousand pounds and is usually totalled when it hits the ground so how exactly did he "help him pick it back up"? >>28727191 reads like a LLM wrote it cause I dont know any driver who calls the fuel island a gas station and the story is slightly embarrassing blogposting, which is made in such a way that you laugh at it and dont notice the little things off like "around my back" instead of "behind my back"

>>28724526I don't ruin a bathroom like that. Worst I've done is upper deck a few shitters. >>28726474It's mostly just practice. Easiest way to visualize it is the trailer is a separate vehicle and your drive tires are its steers. All the rest is just using your mirrors and not being so fat and lazy you won't get the fuck out and look if there's any question you might hit something or be getting close to hitting something. It took me about six months to get to the point where I could put it in a tight spot at the truck stop in less than five minutes without needing a spotter or needing to get out and look. Tell your trainer they're a nigger and they need to let you practice backing for an entire eleven hour day until you can do it driver and blindside without being scared. >>28728601I hit a raccoon doing 64 at about 77k gross and it barely even felt like a bump in the road. Everything you can do to make it seem like you give a fuck and want to do a good job and not fuck up counts bigly.
>>28730408Consult your GPS but never follow it, truck GPS are generally useless and will add hours to your route but do at least look at them for potential rail tunnel and other hazards that dont tend to appear on car GPS. Streetview is your friend and you should be using it especially if youre going somewhere that wasn't designed for trucks like gas stations or independent grocery stores AND ALWAYS LOOK UP those platforms over the fuel pumps aren't always labeled with their clearance and low hanging wires and tree branches WILL fuck you up.Know your limits, they think since you go home youre never tired or stressed, I used to be forced on my last day of the workweek to work until 1am and then come back in at 1101pm the next day so I had a fresh 70, they did that to me 3 weeks in a row and is what caused me to quit. If youre being forced into that even once, start lookin for a new job, I cant be sure complaining or skipping days will do anything other than get you fired. Stimulants are not the same as sleep and by week 3 I was dependant on both benadryl to put me to sleep and caffeine pills to keep me awake, wasn't fun.Above all else, this is the most important part NEVER speak to the warehousers or lumpers or loaders or whatever the guys who load your trailer are called. If youre union, theyre in the same union and they think they deserve just as much if not more pay than you, there is always a division between the drivers and them and you are a driver, if you get on their bad side they will make your shifts a living nightmare but if you try to butter them up the other drivers will take notice and you'll find yourself among the gossip crowd. Office politics will be your downfall if you play games and pick sides, do your job good enough to stay out of the spotlight for good or bad and then go home, these types of jobs have a high turnover rate so dont take it personal if your fellow drivers or customers take a while to warm up to you
>>28730408>>28731497Pepsifag might have some more insight as he was closer to your actual job but that's the important parts off the top of my head from doing last mile food delivery

>>28731950They're hauling really valuable shit that has to be at its destination as soon as possible. Those trucks never stop moving unless it's for fuel, maintenance, or to load/unload. Sleeper is that big so three people can fit in it comfortably. It probably has a shitter in there too.
Driver side backing>overthinking about not making it into the spot without striking another truck which results in multiple pull ups and GOALs>always have to make adjustments to make it into a spot at a drop yardBlind side backing>fucking flawless backing every timeI have far less experience doing blind side backing, so I don’t understand how I’m able to back into a spot without going outside the parking lines. I guess I’m relying more on my spatial awareness than just my vision, like I would doing driver side backing.
>>28731950it's literally on the side of the truck???https://www.fedex.com/en-us/custom-critical.html
>>28732641FedEx isn’t the only company to use these type of trucks, so there may be other uses for them besides just transporting high-valued freight.
>>28732633It's the relying only on your vision. Obviously you should use that when backing but over time you just develop a feel for where your truck is and when you're about to make contact with something or are getting close to that happening. You're probably also setting up better for blindsides than you are for driver sides because you know you won't be able to rely on your vision. Setup is what really makes or breaks any backing attempt. As for pull-ups who gives a fuck you're not taking your cdl test use as many as you need. You could be great at backing but the first time you fuck up and hit something your company hates your guts, or you can be dogshit at it and take half an hour to put it in the hole but as long as you didn't hit anything you still have a job. >>28732656The only other use for having a larger sleeper is if you're going to be living in the truck in one location for an extended period of time or the truck is your permanent residence. Other than that they're just used so you can have three guys in the truck comfortably for extended periods of time so it almost never has to stop moving. Sometimes they'll even hotswap drivers while the truck is moving. I've done it.
Murican drivers wouldn't last a day in Europe. You have to get loads from the middle of European towns with tiny streets, half of which you're not allowed on and some of the ramps here are absolutely mental.
>>28733531Must be difficult for Europoors to fathom how many miles/kilometers American truckers drive, daily.
>>28731813I don't know how or why people line up every fucking hour of every day to get slop at the nearest franchise. Maybe 30 years ago it was still a decent cup of coffee but now you're just getting boiling hot mud that you're going to drown in sugar and creamer for $8.t. former store clerk

>>28734250>Pull up until your shoulder is lined up with the far side of the truck in the space to the left of the one you want to back into>Crank wheel all the way to the right>Pull forward until your truck is straight with the truck you lined up on>Crank your wheel all the way to the left>Pull up until you're pointing the same direction you started>Put truck in reverse>Straighten steers out>Back straight up until you see the trailer is at the appropriate angle to go into the desired spot>Cut wheel all the way to the left>Straighten truck back out into the parking spotDriver side 45's are piss easy. The only variable you really have to account for is how far back your tandems are on the trailer, the further back they are, the more you have to pull up on initial setup. Once you get a feel for it you can do it in minutes.
>>28734404To put all that into a visual aid;https://files.catbox.moe/o6paji.mp4Where I pause at the seven second mark is where you would start turning to the right if you had your tandems in the california hole. Hey. I watched some videos of the guy named Bruce Wilson. Some redneck turned gay, buyin a scania. In his youtube comments some idiots, who never drove a truck before, sayin how scania is better than any american truck, But that's complete BS. In my country, back in the 00's you could of buy two used american trucks for around 50 grand, or 1 used european for a same 50k, comparable in configuration to some cheap freightliner (6x4, 450+ horses, diff locks). Cause 25k dollars american semi will be much much more bullet proof and ready to haul 50 tons (around 100000 lbs). And it's only a fuckin cargo weight. For a 25k you'll get some crappy crap 4x2 pony scania with a tiny cab and 320 horse power engine. So, american truck was and still is a best choice for an owner driver.
>>28746190>Class 1Wut?Also I never did OTR, I got hired at Pepsi with no CDL driving experience. I had to bust my ass for a few years before getting onto a job that wasn’t super physical tho. >>28746296Scania's and Volvos are pretty sweet trucks and unless you're strictly doing long distance hauling you need a cabover in yuropistan because the entire continent is cities with roads that were literally made for horse drawn carts. >>28746517Let me tell you a couple of three things. 2 of the longest and biggest trucks here, in Russia, working at Moscow area, doin trips around the city and city district, hauling sea containers with triple overweight. Thous trucks is long wheel base W900 and Volvo VT880 (owners of those tucks even got YouTube channel). Meanwhile long haul tuckers doing 3k mile trips in a tiny cabovers.
>>28747438kek
Every new truck I’m slip seating in has its audio settings maxed out.I’m surrounded by retards…Can’t wait to get my truck back from the shop.
>>28748123Alright, but you gotta get over it.
how do you respond sounding mad?
>>28749110Drive around it.
>>28749110Oh, you omitted “without”.Drive through it.
Playing ATS is as about as exciting as driving in the Midwest.
I've only driven two trucks ever but I can confidently say Scanias mog Volvos. The Volvo I'm on right now is newer but it's such a piece of shit.
>>28749904I’ve heard the Volvos, here, are like Internationals but with a nicer interior, so I stay away from them. PACCAR or Freightliner for me.
>>28750046I don't know what those are but they sound too American to be available over here.
>>28750049Probably. We don’t use cabovers for our class 8 trucks, anymore.
The trans lives matter truck has been holding us hostage here for like 10 minutes because he can't back up into the parking space, there's like 3 other trucks behind me.
>>28750604There's still some around in the states but they're rare and they're generally older trucks being driven by o/o's or companies that service areas with tight roads. I see them in west virginia pretty regularly. They would make a lot of sense in some markets still but you better have big balls to drive one because you're fucked in a crash. >>28750726So instead of getting out to help spot them you take a picture. Jeenyus!
>>28750604>>28750802You’ve already alluded to it but why don’t they do cabovers anymore? Was it all a safety thing or did other things come into play?
>>28750850Feds eased off on length restrictions in the 80s, making long nosed tractors more popular due to comfort and ease of maintenance and that killed the cabovers by the early 00s.
>>28751039Interesting. Thank you kind anon.
>>28750802Somebody was actually already out helping him out of picture frame
>>28751640The euro modern cabovers are actually quite safe nowadays but they're still not as safe as being in a long nose. It's just that in a lot of yuropistan you honestly need a cabover to make deliveries in urban areas because they can't realistically widen the roads without both spending an ungodly amount of money and destroying historically significant shit. In the US it was just a matter of cost and our roads are big enough to handle some really retarded combinations of shit with relative ease unless you're in older large cities. There's really nothing wrong with cabovers and they do have some advantages it's just cheaper and a lot easier to run longnoses any you can get a daycab with a pup trailer damn near anywhere you can fit a car if you have enough vertical headroom. >>28751823I was hoping that was the case. I've just seen a lot of pictures like that one with people bitching and literally nobody was helping the person unfuck themselves which just wastes time.
>Americans have fucking pets in their trucksThe policemen in Austria and Germany would send you to the nazi deathcamps if they ever saw you with a dog inside the cabin
>>28751901It’s a good thing it’s the 21st century and I live in America. That’s okay, though, because every once in a while my GPS will tell me to “take the third right” and I keep telling myself it’s not the 1930s in Nazi Germany.
I went to pick a friend up at his job and had to wait for a "double" truck (idk the name in English it's the type that has two trailers with an arm connecting them) to back into the warehouse from the street. It was agonizing to watch...it did 6 million point turns to squeeze inside.
>>28751999Yeah, we call those doubles.
>>28751901What a great looking pup. Probably loves all the amazing smells from the places you take him/her.
