9400 OTD price - 2007 Toyota Highlander with 120k miles.
One owner only. Documented service records, all at the same Toyota dealership
Timing belt replaced at 77k miles
Transmission serviced most recently at 2020.

Is this as good as it gets? My local market is so fucked. I need a car.
>>
I have the same model and year car, bought at 137k miles in early 2023 for $6500. It's been a great vehicle and it's totally underappreciated on the used market as a daily driver for some reason.

Not sure what trim you're looking at, but $9400 is absurdly high. Is it private party at that price? Is the interior clean? I'm assuming you need the timing belt/water pump done as well. You can find decent ones all day at $6k and lower in my area.

It's the limited sport(?) trim with the 3.3L V6 engine. Interior looks clean but the front bumper is fucked. It's listed by a used car dealer.

According to these records, it was poorly maintained. Most recent oil change was 17 months apart, the one before that also 17 months apart, the one before that was 24 months. When the vehicle was traded in the inspection found a bad drive shaft and it needed to be replaced for $2100, I can gaurentee you when it was sold at auction, Your Choice Autos didnt replace it.

You know a used car has serious problems when the gas tank is almost empty. they dont want you going far on your test drive.
>>
I'm retarded.... thanks guys i dont own a car
>>
>>28702341
Pretty much any of those buy here pay here lots is going to be full of shitboxes full of issues
>>
>>28702319
I'm new to car buying. Do you see this info in the toyota dealership website

>>28702343
Arent those all used car dealers.

fuck man i just want to buy a used car. This is exhausting. should i just buy CPO/brand new
>>
>>28702357
>Arent those all used car dealers.
dealerships sell used cars and it probably wont be as bad as the buy here pay here lots. I'm a Chicagoanon like yourself and I bought a car from Carvana in August, it came with issues and their warranty is useless. Power lift gate didnt work among a shit ton of other issues, their warranty inspector came out and said they were denying the claim because they couldnt open the lift gate to inspect it! The only reason i'd buy from them again is because they have a large inventory and you can get something from an area where they dont use salt.

>should i just buy CPO/brand new
CPO wont be much better. when you're buying a used car you're buying someone else's deferred maintanence and problems. The only reason it wont be a total shit box is there have only been 5 or so years of poor maintenance. If you go with either you get to enjoy a ton of depreciation.

>Do you see this info in the toyota dealership website
yes, create an account and add the VIN

Thanks for the kindness, midwestbro. What did you end up getting? Any car recommendations?
>>
>>28702472
2016 Infiniti QX80, I have one kid, want to have more, and take road trips, and rarely have the need to go off road for hunting

>Any car recommendations
I mean that really depends on what you have to spend and what you need from a car. You might want to try the stupid questions thread for visibility

wew, you should ask that dealer who his dealer is cause he's smoking that dank shit, man

Hell nah.
Offer $3500
>>
>>28702319
Dude the oil was changed at proper mileage intervals, it just wasnt driven very often.
And dont give me that shit about changing oil every 3-6 months. Synthetics are good for upto 2-3 years.
>>
>>28702357
Buy from faceberg marketplace, you just need cash. You do know how to inspect a used car right?
>>
>>28703477
No I don’t know how desu. I would probably watch some youtuber give me the run down on what to look for but I was going to hire a mobile mechanic for a PPI.

I’ve never owned a car before.
>>
>>28702335
Fucking moron. No dealership leaves their cars fully gassed up in case of fire or theft.

>>

Honestly buying a brand new Mitsubishi mirage for $16-17k may not be a bad idea if you can afford it.
>>
>>28703642
Boom boom would take $9k.
>>
>>28703424
>Synthetics are good for upto 2-3 years.
They arent and also look at that fucking car. It wasnt getting synthetic oil put in it. It bumper cover is held together with duct tape

>>28703577
>A car that caught on fire enough that the gas tank caught is totally salvagable
>bro just never keep gas in your car, no one can possibly steal it then
thank you for proving your is a school bus

>>28703582
yes
>>
>>28703642
A gookmobile, nigsan or Mazda. Hell I’d probably get a “domestic” CUV before I pay $10k for a Toyota that should be like $5k absolute tops.
>>
>>28703642
A better example of a 06-07 highlander from that gen with the V6. They're hardly rare and the platform they're built on is sound.
>>
>>28703810
They're all 200k miles above sadge
>>
>>28702277
>9400 OTD price
holy fuck the used market is cooked
>>
>>28702277
I have the 3.3 3MZ-FE in my Camry and it’s a fantastic motor other than the fuel consumption. Best I’ve gotten on the highway is 26 and I average 19 in the city which sucks. Be prepared to change the timing belt every 90k if I’m not mistaken. Just rolled over 150k miles on mine and it’s smooth as silk. Got it at 134k miles, have had two oil analysis’s done that came back perfect. In a transverse mounted configuration like a Highlander or Camry, the back back of cylinders sucks ass to work on and will almost always require you to pull the intake manifold for things like coils and plugs or the valve cover gasket.
>>
>>28702277
That's too much money for something that old.
You could easily find the same spec Camry for less than half that.
That's not even a good price for a period Tacoma or 4runner, let alone a Highlander.
