>Just like with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N's shifting simulacrum, Honda's simulates a fuel cut at the top of the rev range; go too deep into a "gear" and the car will bog down as it bangs off the programmed limiter. In either mode, the Prelude's speakers layer in simulated engine noise over the four-cylinder's actual (and restrained) hum.I can just see it now. Some old guy racing towards the nearest McDonalds, fake K20 engine sounds screaming out of their interior speakers as people outside just hear a large hairdryer lurching around as it "hits the limiter." How embarrassing is this?
>>28706238obsessing over other people's choices is more embarrassing than you could ever imagine
only time jap cars were good is the 90s and early 00sjust look at this side profile lmao
>>28706238I wouldn't mind the hybrid part or the not fast part if they'd at least given it a manual like Honda themselves had done for the gen 1 Insight, gen 7 Civic hybrid, and CR-Z. Still eternally disappointed in Honda for refusing to leave their FWD shitbox comfort zone and just make something RWD again. There's obviously a market for it when S2gays are new car money. I don't know if I can forgive Honda for refusing to even try to sell the S660 here.
Apparently it pretty much simulates the v6 (whatever engine any journo will quote it) they based it around accurately. How about a car that could change From Trabant to F150 to La Ferrari in sound and driving style with a fiddly menu selection. Some say Honda might be on to something.
>>28706239Cope harder, faggot.>>28706243lol. I like Honda but goddamn, there is nothing original about this car. $42k base for a 2 door Civic that's slow as shit.
>>28706239>mad honda fanboyHonda sucks dicks now, get over it, jose.
>>28706245except it's not even cheap for being bullshit
>>28706253Yeah, Honda went there. You just know how much we will never see (hear/experience).
i don't mind that it's slow but it's way too expensive
What did the designers mean by this?
>>28706238>guys a hybrid doesn’t work like a regular UCE car!more news at 11
>>28706381In a world of cuckovers these are all fantastic
>>28706395It is commendable that a manufacturer released a new coupe in current year, but Prelude's have always had a more balanced look with a long hood, where as the new one looks hunched over
>/o/ - hating cars
>>28706400have car manufacturers considered not making shitty cars, then?
>>28706238Because they barely put any effort, they know the car market is so enshittified that people will buy anything that isn't a soulless SUV/TRUCK
What Honda has essentially done here is shit into their own hand and then wiped it all over the legacy of the Prelude. If this thing had actually embodied the spirit of it's namesake I would have bought it in a heartbeat. I was so excited for this thing, and the more info that came out about it, the more disappointed I became. Now I'm not even disappointed any more, I'm just disgusted.
>>28706239Reported for being underage
>>28706415As a rule, actually law, they have to make cars that suck. In France you get fined thousands of french money for having a car that doesn't suck.As a rule if you buy a ten year old car you will get a better car than anything new even if the new car matched the used cars price.
I think its neat.
>>28706545Dude the original prelude was basically an Accord coupe.
>>28706545What “legacy” does the prelude even have? It’s associated with low income Mexicans and the lamest low speed street racing. The dodge neon has a better legacy by comparison. At least it dominated Motorsports for fed compacts.
>>28706651Pelude was Honda showing off a bit. Bits of this and bits of that but essentially a two place tourer. If LJK Setright can get worked up about one then I'm ok with Prelude.
>>28706243That honestly doesn't look bad. If it were something like an MR2 with a mid-mounted engine it'd be perfect.
>>28706676Ummm sweaty don’t you know that it’s new and NEW IS BAD M’KAY!?!?!
>>28706238This sounds so lame. I wish they had actually gone full electric drive with range extending ICE. The engine emulation R&D should've gone into a more adventurous 4WS system and individual wheel torque vectoring. Maybe we can hope for a more interesting trim level in a few years, but chances are this flop won't sell and they discontinue it. I'd be disappointed, but I already have a 3rd gen I love.
>>28706238I still hope people buy it though. It's obvious that it's not a true enthusiast-centric model, let alone a sports car (it never was). It's also pathetic that it barely even has more power than the previous model 25 years ago (normies don't know this). It's also pathetic that it fakes gears (normies don't know this).I'd still rather be surrounded by normies commuting to work in what I see as a normal economy car in the Prelude over the alternative, however. Everyone (rightfully) complaining about it is just going to doom themselves to be surrounded by an endless sea of jellybean-shaped crossovers until the end of time. I'll take seeing these over ever having to see one more HR-V on the road ever again.Fuck it, tell Toyota to crank out a hybrid 2-door Corolla or Prius coupe to go up against it. >>28706244I don't think this thing would be nearly as hated if they had at least shoehorned a manual option into it like they did with their previous hybrids. People would still be complaining about power just like with the CR-Z, but they would at least have a more "engaging" option for the enthusiast (autist) that just wants a funky, efficient daily driver.
>>28706756As a car, it's dogshit. It just looks pretty decent.
I think this car is fine except that it's priced really fucking stupidly.
>According to Honda, the majority of the Prelude's early adopters are in their 50s and 60s, not their 20s and 30s.lmao
>>28706238This thing is going to be the biggest fucking flop I’ll be so surprised if it stays in production more than 2 years. They could’ve called it ANYTHING else.
>>28706243It's alright, considering how fucking awful and bloated most new cars look.
>>28706238VeryCars are both fake and gay now
