people are unironically defending replacing shift levers & parking brakes with buttons>You might open the door while the car isnt in park! if it's a button, we can make the car do it automatically whenever you open the door! Smart huh? :)Anybody else stunned by this level of stupidity and trading of freedom & control for the most asinine conveniences imagineable? IF YOU OPEN THE FUCKING DOOR WHILE THE CAR ISNT IN PARK, MAYBE YOU SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO DRIVE, FUCK FACE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Autofags don't get to complain, you already use baby mode
the e parking brake engages automatically if im on a hill and its not much troublei don't want it taking up space as a manual one would, even if yes the manual kind if a bit more secureI enjoy lever action shifters (auto) but I wish all vehicles came with steering column mounted paddle shiftersI end up shifting my auto in manual mode half the time anyways cuz I am often driving through hills and the transmission logic doesn't seem to grasp putting you in a lower gear for steep or winding roads so I have to manage that myself + it's a gutless 4 cyl so keeping it in the power band is really useful i imagine if I had 6 or 8 cylinders manual mode would be less often necessary but ALAS I am a poorfrenI also wish there were a lot MORE buttons on the steering wheel its an easy to reach place and you could festoon a steering wheel with buttons
>>28714514>women>people
>>28714530Steering wheel doesn't need anymore buttons on most new cars. They're already covered in them.Instead, they just use a column shifter.
>>28714514Electric parking brakes are shit (see the thread in the catalogue where you can't change the brake pads without having to put the car in service mode or whatever) but who cares about having PRND buttons instead of a lever, it's all electronically controlled since the 90s anyway, might as well save space and bring back front bench seats
>>28714546>They're already covered in them. It's the easiest place to reach - the more the merrier>Instead, they just use a column shifter.that's spatially less intuitive to me than whatever you call the normal t bar auto shifter type sorry I'm tired
>muh freedumbyou sound like a /g/tard. i'm glad sedans don't waste a shit ton of space on two sticks these days.
>>28714514I have that one and it is pretty nice to use. Not only will it put it in park when you open the door it will put it in park when you turn the car off which is nice. It also has paddle shifters. I dont really think its a big deal it not more cucked then using a fake little shifter for an automatic
>>28714514Yeah butbthe bleeding hearts are always like>if it helps save one dumb smelly 60iq nigger life then we have a moral duty to impose it on the entire population
I really dont get why column shifters didnt become standard>its just the best in every aspect>doesnt block the center console>easy to reach when parking (going back and forward)
Why the heck doesn't my modern EV automatically engage the parking brake when I say:>Hey car, shut down. This instruction should automatically switch off the ignition and engage the parking brake while opening the doors for me. I thought we could do this in 2025 (and that's the sworn truth).
>>28714514too bad new cars with column shifters just have a tiny stalk, and not the longer one that goes THUNK THUNK THUNK as you go through each gear
>>28714514I see nothing wrong with dials/buttons and you can't come up with an argument against it either.
>>28714514>automaticWho the fuck cares? Im dd a mercedes so i prefer column mounted lever cuz it is easier to operate at night but i see nothing wrong with the buttonsI only ever had complaint against jaguar and land rover style shifter (little joystick that pops up when you start the car and retracts when you turn it off). Ticking time bomb
>>28714514Imagine neutral dropping that dystopian mf shifter
>>28714530>I also wish there were a lot MORE buttonsProtip: kys
>>28714514>Advocating for a big stupid fucking lever that does fuck all in your pathLmao kys OP
>>28715256This, automatic cars in general are already kinda cucked, they can't roll and do a clutch drop start, and if the battery is too weak to even turn on the dash lights and release the shift lock when you brake, you've gotta remove the stupid cover and poke it to move the lever, and most people don't want to do that, the automatic transmission being controlled by buttons is probably the biggest non issue in nu-cars, I've got a problem with the goddamn engine failures at way too low miles.
>>28714514They replaced them with buttons because there's no difference for modern autos. You are fucking braindead and retarded. Your shift lever in a modern automatic is not a manual tranny, all it's doing is triggering a switch that sends electric signals over a wire to change the actual gear. There's no reason not to just use buttons. Same fucking retard cars have all gone to push start instead of key since it makes no fucking difference. You fucking contrarian faggots will cry about everything without realizing there's virtually no difference under the hood.
>>28714514>all these responsesWell baited my friend. Unless you unironically believe what you're saying, then you're retarded.
>>28714514At this point, just be thankful it's not on a touchscreen.
>>28715732Shit Anon, don't give those retards ideas
>>28714514I like that style of gear selector, you don't have to go through R to go to P or D. Auto boomer sticks, especially the ones with leather boots, are a thing of the past
>>28715226shift denied :^)
>>28715732>>28715737too late
>>28716134I defend the Honda button but that is disgusting. Tesla owners are cucked as fuck
