Which of these would make a better daily driver?>Volvo XC70 2.4D>BMW E91 320dIm a Baltfag, our winters are annoying, but not ethernal. Roads get salted. I would use it for 200-250km per week.I tend to do my own maintenance.
What year XC?They went from a viscous coupling unit that tended to shit the bed quite easily to a haldex system at one point, but I can't remember the details. The BMW is a fairly sturdy little shitbox, just check if it's one of the timing chain munchers or not.
>>28722256HERE I AM, THE USER YOU WERE LOOKING FORi had a E91, 318d, Touring, in Austrial.i got it for a good price as it had around 300000km on it when i got it, drove it until around 340000km.pic related my car. i sold it because i got myself a 2020 540d instead on account of furthering my career and making more money.i cry a river of tears every time i see pictures of it, i wish i never sold it. its a GREAT car, absolutely great. had no problems with it despite the high mileage, just a AC compressor once that got stuck, 500€ fix.its GREAT to drive. absolutely great. great transmission, great handling, amazing engine for what it is (the 318d isnt the sportiest of engines of course) everything felt so TIGHT even after all these kilometers.the diesel consumption is laughable. i drove it with 4l/100km once, on the highway, trying to drive very efficiently, my motorcycle uses more than that. i managed to get over 1000 kilometers out of a single tank.some might say they arent the best looking BMWs, and i tend to agree, but i loves every second of owning it, i was DDing it for i think 2-3 years.as i said, i cry a RIVER OF TEARS everytime i see pictures of it. i miss it, i wish i still had it. it was a great car.
>>28722256>dailying ancient leasebaitwhats the point?
>>28722256go with the volvobalts prefer to steal german carsbalts will also drive like idiots in german cars while the volvo is driven like an old persons cari bet the volvo owner even tossed the fag ends out the window rather than in the car
>>28722256I know a bit about 320ds. If your winters are cold then you'll want to have the glow plugs done (if they haven't been done already, tends to be neglected where I'm from, maybe different where your from). And the glow plug module as well (will most likely be faulty at this age and mileage, costs at least £100 for a new genuine one here in UK). They had the M47 engine until 2007, replaced by the N47 after. Have owned both (currently have an M47 in an E46). Make sure the intake manifold swirl flaps are deleted if you get the M47, they can break off and grenade your engine. If you go for an N47, try to find one that has had the timing chain done. They are flawed and liable to fail. The N47 I had didn't come with any history, but I assume the timing chain was done as it had over 200,000 miles when we got it. Power and torque are pretty good for a 2L diesel, as well as the MPG.Do be careful when buying one. If you buy one that has not been looked after, you'll be spending a lot of time chasing the problems that the previous owner(s) left for you. Have owned a few cheap 3 series now and it happens every time regardless of fuel type and cylinder count.
>walls of text about bmw maintenancethe volvo will do 500k miles as long as you change the oil and timing belt
>>28722256both suckbuy an e39 530d, preferably manual, the gm automatics are garbage
