>>28740516muscle cars don't compromise, the Challenger has the most of everything. 8 cupholders, 5 seats, and a 4-hooker trunk. Even the v6 is the most powerful variant, shared with the ram 1500.The mustang and camaro compromise heavily. Although the mustang is more powerful it has poor handling and the Camaro has excellent handling and even more power but extremely limited cargo capacity and poor ergonomics. Both are on poorfag mcdonalds struts while the Challenger rides on double bones.
>>28740516mustang & camaro are pony cars not real muscle cars. As the other anon said muscle cars are not a compromise, it's a normal car with the biggest possible engine stuffed in.
The original ethos of muscle was a joyful ride without the compromises of a true sports car - passenger room, trunk, ease of maintenance and overall affordability. The Challenger is essentially the only true muscle car of the modern days. You can totally live with a Chilly as your only car even if you have kids, in any weather since AWD is available.
>>28738027>it's not going to happenI told my dad to buy a challenger because of /o/ He actually did but bought a fuckin v6 despite being loaded with money

>>28737675Comfy but junk. lol
>>28744622based and challypilledyour dad knows what's upafter driving across the country in one I can confidently say the v6 is the patrician choice.it's just so much better balanced and sure footed in corners, it goes further on the same tank of gas, and the difference between a 3.6 and a 5.7 performance wise isn't very large, it's still a 300+ HP car capable of 160 mph, it just takes longer to get there.
>>28744753wrong it's a god machine
>>28744783>it's still a 300+ HP car capable of 160 mph, it just takes longer to get there.R/Ts barely hit 160mph and have almost 100hp more. You're smoking crack Anon.
>>28744836they all have a 155 mph speed limiter unless it's a manny or super track pack, but it's very easy to disable. the spreadsheet difference between the v6 and v8 is less than one mitsubishi mirage. In real life that gap is even smaller. The 5.7 makes .69 HP/l and the 3.6 makes .85, making it the far superior engine.
>>28744853It's a simple matter of physics, if you're trying to push the same shape through the air with less power you're going to go slower. And drag increases exponentially, hence why the V6 is so much slower to 100mph and speeds above.
>>28744858wrongThe 3.6 makes peak power at redlineThe 5.7 makes peak power in the middle of the tachowhen the 5.7 is tripping over it's valves at high rpm the 3.6 is still accelerating past it. Aerodynamics limit both cars but the V8 is less capable of resisting aero drag at full tilt than the v6 is because of it's lumpy powerband that makes less than 300 HP at it's redline of 5500 rpm.
>>28744853Mine says 200 mph, but I only got it at 168 so far, in Mexico of course, where freedom prevails.
>>28745068Picrel
>>28737675cali
>>28744869Wrong stupid. To hit 160mph with 305hp you'd need a .29 coefficient of drag. The Challenger is .35. Again it's simple math why your car can't hit 160mph. You need at least 324whp to hit that speed with a frontal area of 2.38m2 and a .35 cd, or drive downhill.

>>28746060First person I ever met that prefers the V6 to the V8s
>>28746068the driving dynamics are unique as the v6 weighs 200-400 lbs less over the front axle than the v8 does so it actually turns, and the engine just loves to rev so it's fun to drive full throttle. The thing screams like an Indy car and just never stops pulling. you have torque in every gear. You can practically idle at 65 mph. the pentastar is fucking awesome.
>>28745119Owned/10, lmao>>28745245consider deleting mid-muffler and getting dynomax race bullets to replace (works well for the 6.4, but not sure about the best for the 5.7)

>>28746111son I'm old enough to be your dadI bought a v6 on purpose because I did research and determined mathematically that it is in fact the better car, not because of whatever gay self projection you are trying to place on me.grow up kid, maybe one day you'll be able to afford a v6 chally your mom will approve of
>>28746111>someone who doesn't even own a car with a big V8 copes monumentally hard about people who actually like V6sJealous, much? Is it the 30 mpg?
So just get one of these and I'm god of /o/?
>>28746132yeswell second god of /o/ because im not going anywhere but /o/lympus is big enough for the both of uspeak shitpost would be a v6 awd super track pack in a funky limited color like plum crazy, the AWD STPs are extremely low production, and usually a custom order making them rarer than demons.
>>28746124Why would I be jealous of Pentastar owners when I own one? And mine is manual to boot. I've driven it in the last 10 minutes and it's the 2nd Pentastar I've had. Saying it's "mathematically better" than the V8 is just silly. It's a good engine, but not that good - the 200 lb weight savings mean little when it's 4,000 lbs anyway.
>>28746149but it's not 4000 lbs, it's 3800 and the weight distribution goes from 54:46 to 52:48 which is even more significant than the shedded weight. I am not exaggerating or making shit up or coping or any of your tired old bits when I say that the v6 Challenger is literally just a huge Miata, it drives almost exactly the same way as a caged NA/NB with very similar steering ratio, weight distro and hp:weight. despite the fact that it is a very long and imposing car it has an uncanny agility and lightness on it's feet that the spreadsheets cannot show. the car may not be the best in any one category but the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. your wrangler may have a pentastar, but it is a far cry from a challenger and unless you have the 2dr sport wrangy I think you have the slightly weaker factory tune anyway. If you had that manny and a pstar in a challenger you'd get what I'm talking about.
>>28746199I do have the 2dr sport. It's a better engine with a manual because it needs to be revved, but it's not ideal for the tall bouncy Wrangler platform. It feels weird revving to 7k in it (though I do).I had an NA8 miat with LSD for 11 years. I get that the challenger is good, but if you wanted a machine for responsiveness (apparently why you'd pick the V6) I don't see why you'd pick the chally in particular. And if you wanted drag racing you'd get the V8.Maybe it's a good compromise between speed, value, and utility for you. I just don't think the claim that "the V6, acktchually, is better than the V8" is valid when money is taken out of the equation.
>>28746226> but if you wanted a machine for responsiveness (apparently why you'd pick the V6) I don't see why you'd pick the chally in particular.>52:48>double wishbones>rwd>not jap or germand as a bonus:>very nice interior>looks absolutely sexual>extremely easy and cheap to maintain and repair> I just don't think the claim that "the V6, acktchually, is better than the V8" is valid when money is taken out of the equation.people with actual money like myself don't like to waste it meaninglessly. i also don't have an infinite amount of time to waste with car maintenance. i like to drive and a whole 500 miles to a tank of regular gas is unbeatable. the v8s are notoriously unreliable unless you disable the features that make them daily drivable which then makes the v6 with it's superior fuel economy -- despite a lack of any eco cope shit like mds or even egr -- a much more appealing choice.like fuck how much it costs, the v6 simply goes farther. fuck a drag race, real life is le mans.
>>28746248>people with actual money like myself>bought a fucking V6 nigmobile
>>28746248>people with actual money like myself don't like to waste it meaninglesslywhy would you buy a challenger for any other reason but to waste money on a big dumb car with a big dumb motor?
>>28746278I wanted a Challenger so I bought one. If I wanted some other piece of shit specifically to cope about muh power or muh handling I would have bought that, but I bought a v6 chally because I wanted a v6 chally. the math worked out to the most optimum possible DD shitbox. it just so happens it's a decent sports car as well.>>28746284because I don't buy cars to be lawn ornaments I buy them to drive them and the v6 just drives better than the v8. It is statistically a better car in every way other than raw acceleration. Majority rule. Simple as.

Oh I should have posted in here. Sorry for making a different Challenger thread: >>28746401TL;DR how do I prevent my V8 from being stolen in the deep south
>>28746063That’s kind of funny. >>28746248I like your car anon and I think the pentastar is a great engine. But the naturally aspirated v8s are extremely reliable engines. The 5.7 in particular is underpowered and built for reliability which translates to issues when trying to make it faster. If you modify it, the PCM will counter every attempt with a destructive feedback loop. Hell, changing the back pressure for the exhaust caused the car to dump more gas into the engine causing issues if you don’t custom tune.
>>28746391>had toi didn't have to do anything, I chose financing because I could sit on my money in case something mechanically stupid happened to the car, which I didn't entirely trust at first based on my experience with other Dodge products. I am pleasantly surprised that it was entirely unnecessary and I suffered no loss of capital.>admitting you're a seething manletkekaroo indeed>>28746421Tazer with pin lock, manual park lever blockoff plate, disable keyless enter-n-go, have a base model radio, have a manual.>>28746446I also find the pentastar to be a little underclocked out of the box and like the hemi changing things like tb diameter and exhaust will mess things up, but at the same time you can still improve performance in little ways by undoing some of the emissions shit like a cooler thermostat and swapping the fwd style intake manifold for the newer revisions out of the ram and durango.as a speed density engine, peak performance is largely dependent on atmospheric conditions. So making sure it gets the freshest, coldest air with the least amount of resistance and the iat sensor reads absolutely accurately is critical to getting maximum power, but in factory spec they're simply not built that way in order to pass federal emissions tests with the bare minimum effort. Simple things like moving the iat sensor away from the vee of the engine so it doesn't soak, colder thermostats, opening up the bumper and headlight intake and using the later, better-molded intakes go a long way.
>>28746421Oh another thing you can do is simply pull the ASD relay out of the fuse box under the hood, the car cannot start without it. The fuse box has a diagram on the underside. You can pop it out easily without tools and leave it in an empty slot nearby. No car thief will bother playing relay hot potato to steal your car.

>>28747206Original challenger was a pony car but the modern LC/LA platform one is muscle car. Essentially just a slightly lighter 2-door charger
>>28747294The original Challenger was bigger than the Mustang too, it's still a pony car.
>>28747796It depends on the engine option, the 340 would be a long car but a 440 would be a muscle car.

>>28747839ok retard
>>28740516>...Like a muscle car?The entire point of muscle cars is that they don't compromise. Their market segment, from the beginning, was "a performance car you can daily." Haul 4 people + groceries or luggage while hitting 100 MPH on the straights. The reason why this was their market niche was because they were meant to cater to people who wanted a performance car but didn't have the money to buy both a family car AND a dedicated sports car. Pony cars were meant to do the same thing in a smaller package, usually catering to the lifestyle of a bachelor or very young family. The modern equivalent market niches for muscle cars and pony cars these days are essentially sports sedans and sports compacts, respectively.
>>28747979>Their market segment, from the beginning, was "a performance car you can daily." Haul 4 people + groceries or luggageLol, no. This is extreme cope. Pony cars sold off looks and performance.
