Insurance (Teilkasko 150)
motorcycle: 200€ p.a.
my last car: 900€ p.a.

Vehicle tax
motorcycle: 50€ p.a.
average for car: 194€ p.a.

Fuel consumption (benzin)
motorcycle: 5,5 l/100km
average car: 7,8 l/100km

Also my motorcycle cost 1000€ and goes 0-100 in 3 seconds.

Why would you waste money on a car if you can have so much more fun on a motorcycle.

because it takes some Eva looking at TikTok on the autobahn to turn you into red mist

The risk is part of the excitement
>>
Gets old really fast when you're your 3rd month into weather like this.
>>
>>28739537
I'm sorry you have to live somewhere like that
>>
>>28739780
It could be worse, but not by much.

Perkelebro, what’s the lowest temperature you’ve ever ridden a motorcycle in, and what’s the lowest temperature at which you still genuinely enjoyed the ride?
>>
Nice blog post Hans.
Now fuck off and go back to work so I can fuck your wife in peace

Hey, leave Hans alone!

>>
>>28739909
-35°C is the lowest I've ridden in, but I don't mind the cold as I ride for my own enjoyment anyway regardless of the temperature.
I'd much rather ride in the freezing cold than +2c and it's raining soggy slush shit from the sky.
Riding in the winter is fun in its own way.
>>
>>28739960
Wouldn't there be snow or black ice at that temperature ?
>>
>>28740069
Sure, black ice is an issue when the temperature flipflops between freezing point, but if it snows properly then it's much more manageable imo.
You just have to ride slower or invest in studded tires. They help a shit ton.
>>
>>28739537
Rather a 3rd month of that than 3rd worlders.
>>
>>28739960
Slushy, messy roads are now my everyday reality after any snowfall. But there’s less and less snow each year. It turns out that winters are becoming not only warmer, but also drier. The temperatures don’t bother me at all, although I rarely see any other motorcyclists on the road. Not many people are willing to go for a ride this time of year, or better, something as hardcore as Elefantentreffen.

did this guy skip leg day every single time or is he wearing rubber muscle suit ?

any carbureted bike over 600cc?
>>
>>28741673
2000 Suzuki SV 650 S
But my way of riding is also pretty energy-inefficient
>>
>>28741491
It’s reasonable to be afraid of risk you have no control over.

I like riding motorcycles but most motorcycle riders, at least in america, also have a car. I take the bike whenever I can but I absolutely need to carry offroad vehicles, hundreds of pounds of luggage, and tens of gallons of fuel quite often. I can't do that on a motorcycle, but I can in a truck. I can't go to Costco and buy a month's worth of food. I can't go somewhere distant without warm clothes. Cages offer a lot of utility for a lot of people, even if it costs a bit more money. If it was always about money people would just walk everywhere.
Lots of countries use tons of bikes all year, but they all live in warm climates and tend to be impoverished. I can only ride for four months of the year but even in those four months I find many occasions where I absolutely must drive a truck, particularly due to my lifestyle choices and hobbies.
I think everyone should at least try a bike but the correct answer for most people is to probably have both. Motorcycles are cheap to own so they can be a supplement to your primary vehicle. That's why I have multiple of each and I'm not alone in that.

I live in Alaska and have tried to ride in winter. I ride dual sports but the roads are much too icy to even stay upright at rest and the trails turn from mud holes to ice rinks. Do you think if I got studs I could at least ride the trails? We get more than 2 meters of snow accumulation but I pack and groom my trail with a snowmachine, minus the ice.
>>
>>28743506
Studded winter tires are a night and day difference, with studded tires it's almost like riding on dry ground, to an extent.
Probably the closest comparable thing is like a rural dirt road during the summer
>>
>>28743527
I might give it a try
I've never in my life seen someone riding a bike here in winter but I do know the difference between bike and car tires
gonna try it off the roads first, at least.
>>
weather is the only reason thats stopping me from going full vroom before 1800 hours
>>
>>28739294
Have to wear all the gear, takes 20 minutes to put it all on. Will take 20 minutes to take it off. You will smell like sweat when you reach your destination. If there is any kind of weather, you can't take your biku out.
>>
>>28744768
Gear is optional and it takes me 5 minutes or less to put it on
>>
>>28746684
I'd say buy both, a motorcycle and a car.
>>
>>28739294
A car can actually haul stuff, seats 5 people, doesn't expose you to rain and snow, and if you've got a family or children you might not want to die at the age of 31 in a collision
>>
>>28746702
and I forgot to add that most bikers are extremely flamboyant and homoerotic
>>
>>28746704
Just Harley riders.
>>
>>28746723
No, literally all motorcyclists are faggots. Sorry, I don't make the rules, that's just how it is
>>
>>28746773
So are /o/ posters and OPs, so op doesn't lose anything
>>
>>28746723
I saw hundreds of Harley's all together for a funeral recently. Filled the road. Didn't see any homos. Made mevwant one even if they have a poor reputation for handling. Will consider once I have my uncucked 'A' loicence and am in the market for something bigger. All still rather hypothetical until the skill level is in place.
>>
>>28739294
Winter, rain, passengers, carrying anything large than a backpack, general convenience.
>>
>>28746702
>A car can actually haul stuff

Just get a big backpack and order bigger stuff online

>seats 5 people

And you have to play taxi and drive people around

>doesn't expose you to rain and snow

I'm not made out of sugar

>if you've got a family or children...

Why would want those responsibilities in the first place
>>
>>28747181
Cruisers are uncomfortable, the short suspension can only do so much. They give you tailbone pain.
