How come there is so little hype for the Santa Cruz? They mog Mavericks in almost every way possible
>>28741892Yeah man "hyundai makes good cars now u guise" and other meme lies
>>28741892>gay>ugly>gookshit>polaris UTV sized bed>NART
>>28741892>How come there is so little hype for the Santa Cruz?I like how it's already redjust in case you don't get the recall notice in time
>>28741892>engine self destructing recalls>self immolation recalls>some tiktok retard might break into it thinking it's one you can steal with a USB cable gee I wonder why people might avoid gookshit these days
>>28741896Maverick isn't a real truck either but there's almost always a thread here praising them
>>28741892Most of the appeal in trucks is that they have simple, utilitarian design language. This is fucking gay, fags designed this. Straight men will not buy it. Make it basic and square, that's literally all truck buyers are buying half the time, just something that doesn't look gay which is how 99% of cars on the road look these days.
>>28741892I actually like the design for it. If anyone else manufactured it, I would buy one.
>>28741892Does Doug hold stock in these companies?
>>28742004so if someone wants what a maverick gives them, why would they want a worse maverick?
>>28741892>They mog Mavericks in almost every way possibleSubaru Baja tier vestigial bed with none of the charm.
>>28741892They're uncharacteristically overpriced. A Santa Cruz SEL with AWD is 34750. A Maverick XLT with AWD and the 4k tow package is 34575. Basically the same price but it tows more and has a bigger bed and more interior room and has 30% more HP. And most importantly it looks better. Santa Cruz has a slightly better interior and remote start is standard but I'm paying the extra $2000 to get that added to the Maverick any day.
>>28742034>Most of the appeal in trucks is that they have simple, utilitarian design language. maybe 20 years ago, now they're all ugly overstyled bullshit for pussy manchildren to feel safe in
because they didn't put a proper off road package on it+ its more expensive than the maverick despite being better (and they make a whole let less of them) >>28742004american cars and trucks are overhyped >>28742034aka people want macho vehicles to project their manliness and don't care how shitty they are
>>28741892>Remove the useless back seats >Lengthen the bed a little>Put in a faster engine >Offer a manualDo those and I'll trade in my Maverick
>>28742216>>Put in a faster engineto their credit they offer a 2.5T that you cannot get in a normcore Tucson or Sportage>Offer a manualnobody would buy it and it offers no advantage other than massively driving up their costs because they have to produce an entirely different vehicle with a bunch of settings reprogrammed just for what would likely be a 5% take rate
What happens if you don't follow the manual and put more than the pathetic 661 pounds in the totally not trunk but super real truck bed?
>>28742242If you knew anything about trucks then you wouldn't need to ask this question. The fact that you don't know how hauling capacity is determined just shows you're a notruck who doesn't actually care about trucks or their capabilities.
>>28742242You would probably squat the shit out of the rear which would destroy your handling and tires if you did it frequently.
>>28742313probably would stress the suspension
>>28742242You're a retard who got the wrong vehicle is what happened. If you want to carry heavy load you'll get a real truck. This is a utility vehicle first
>>28741892>dct in a vehicle designed for towing and doing "truck shit". >overheats on light dirt trails>overstrung engine>shit fuel economy>looks like shit>hyundai doesn't make trucks and doesn't know how to. Just off the top of my head. The maverick is designed as a utility vehicle first and crossover second. The Santa cruz is desgined as a crossover first and a truck second.
>>28741892The Santa Claus is just a retarded vehicle. You're not getting ANY utility out of that tiny ass bed, even the Maverick has a bigger bed. The Maverick only tows 1k less while getting twice the MPG and costing less.
>>28742873>The Maverick only tows 1k less while getting twice the MPG and costing less. And the only reason why its rated 1k less is so it didn't canabalize ranger sales more than it already is.
>>28742873An open bed always has utility over an SUV
>>28743180not really cuz you can fill an SUV to the top and close it securely.
>>28742861I think they just stopped using the DCT...
>>28742174Every single trim of Maverick has remote start, I have a base XL model and I remote start in winter with my phone while I walk to the truck... And I still have to put the key in and turn it to move it.You have to pay extra if you want it on the fob. But the Ford app can lock and unlock or remote start anywhere as long as you have cell service
>>28743747>as long as you have cell servicethey should make it work with satellites too >no push button starthorrendous
>>28743751Absolutely did not want push button start. Push button start>get out of truck leaving it running with fob in pocket >truck fucking honks at you in anger for going more than 5ft away from it>have to take the fob and leave it in the truck to not get honked atKey>get out of truck leaving it running with key in ignition>never get honked at, don't need to use Forscan to edit out honks
>>28743756on mine you just have to leave the driver door open a bit and then it doesn't beep it you when you get out to pee with it running
>>28743758Leaving the door open will hurt my hybrid mpgs too much from loss of heat. I do delivery so I'm getting in and out of my truck often with it "running", mostly just don't want to wait for Android auto to reconnect and have to press "ok" on the steering wheel 5 times stuff
>>28743762you just leave it cracked a tiny bit and it prevents the beeping
>>28743758>>28743762These are convincing posts to buy neither of these cars
>>28743765Well either way, XLT doesn't really offer anything besides alloys over a base XL, don't see the point in paying $3k for the alloys when you can get bronco sport takeoffs
>>28743769the ford escape platform is shit and has been long overdue for a replacement but the replacement is still going to have a shitty cheap interior because you are hoodwinked into buying american
>>28743773My maverick is actually my first "American" vehicle, with a mazda mzr derived 4 cylinder with licensed toyota hybrid technology. Before this I had 2 Honda Accords, when it came time to look at a new vehicle the Honda accord was too big and too much, so I looked at civic hybrid vs corolla hybrid all over again. Then it's like wait there's this fuckin fake truck that's cheaper than both and can do a fuck ton more. the interior is a step down from the accord, but it's also more functional and more usable, way easier to clean. Also it's a wonder what $300 of amazon chinkshit interior upgrades and costco phantom floormats will do for a maverick, better than the accord with shit bolted on. The 6 speakers aren't awful once you have them tuned a bit on the head unit, and they're only like 10 watts so they're not gonna eat into your mpgs. Utilitarian.
>>28743781>the Honda accord was too bigbullshit
>>28743786I had an 8th gen that I already felt was "too big" (economy wise) and that I should have gotten a civic. Something like an 11th gen accord is a yacht and way more expensive than a maverick
>>28743413Some things are too tall for an SUV
>>28741892>Hyundai engine and transmission problems>looks weird>less usable bed>the seats are horribly uncomfortablePlus people like the Maverick because it's boxy and it reminds them more of the old rangers.
>>28745227I think they just stopped making it with the troublesome dual clutch. >>the seats are horribly uncomfortableeh, they could use more padding, but they aren't that bad
>>28742207I'm not sure people are too happy with the newer trucks these days, given the recalls and engine asplode.
>>28745227Hyundai engine and tranny got a lot better recently
>>28745717the 2.5 could use a new generation - make it smoother pleaseor really, what about a 2 liter v6?
>>28743781People love to shit on Ford interiors, but they do hold up really well in my experience. It took me 8+ years before I broke something on my Fiesta ST (small panel in the cargo area, broke off the peg that holds the cargo cover while unloading something big) and it was a $35 5 minute replacement. The Ranger I have now is almost 6 years old with 70k miles and the interior barely shows any wear too. Meanwhile I've had Hondas and Toyotas (notably the 8th Gen Civic Si I bought new back in '09) that were rattly as hell after only 3 years and had visible interior wear.
>>28743747A cool thing is that you can schedule starts with this too. I've got my Ranger set to start 10 minutes before I leave on workdays now that it's getting cold and it really helps, the infamous 10 speed feels like it's going to explode when it makes the first few shifts if I don't warm it up first but just a few minutes of running on remote start makes it totally smooth.
>>28741892>They mog Mavericks in almost every way possiblesome adage about winning a gold medal at the special olympics...
>>28744824That, and also from time to time you may haul shit that you don't want on the inside of your vehicle. Like mulch, gravel, firewood, bags of concrete, etc.If it's an exterior cargo area you don't need to worry about messes, you just hose it out. You put anything like that in the back of your SUV and you'll be cleaning dust & debris out of there forever.
>>28741892What are the little tabs(?) in the top centre of the wheel arch black plastic things? They look like they fold out or something.
>>28746520Weirdly it's for an OEM go-pro mount. Other than that, they just have little pictures of the car for some reason
