Picrel its what I want to drive for fun. The SE1 by Spirit Engineering. Is trading a naturally aspirated V8 which will probs be a collectors item is making me second guess.
The winds fold so you can store it in the garage instead of paying for hangar space
Its just so pretty
Where exactly do you plan to purchase this?
>>28743654Weekend plane > weekend car>>28743670If you have to ask you can't afford one
You got your certs?
>>28743670This particular plane from Spirit Engineering and they would ship it to you from their factory in Colorado. However, anybody else in this community who’s interested in flying? I would recommend checking out Hummel’s Ultracruiser and their new Multicruiser. Both fallen into the FAA’s 103 type aircraft category. These require no pilots license, no annual inspection, no medical, the only real restriction they have is don’t fly it into restricted airspace or get permission first. You can literally take off from a ranch field and fly it around. Some rural folks like to commute to each others properties this way. Its a easy entry point and costs less than some card. Picrel, its the Hummel Ultracruiser.
>>28744040I do, best investment I ever made. For thousands of years poets wrote about the beauty of flight and birds. Civilizations thought it was magic. Here I am getting to do that on a weekend as a hobby. While others are out at the bars drinking a beer I’m 10,000 feet hanging around the clouds, enjoying some good pipe tobacco. Or hitting Oshkosh
biggest problem with planes is that it's mostly a solo activity.i'm thinking boat is more enjoyable for my lifestyle. can crooze around slowly, take a nap, do some fishing, cook out on the grill, bang my old lady, check out the tits-n-ass on her friends. etc.
>>28744390If I got a boat, it wouldn’t be for other people. It would be for me. I’m not flying so I can chat with someone else. If I wanna be social, I’ll go hang out with the other guys in the lounge and talk airplanes. Or hang out on the lawn. A boat KEK
>>28744460Didnt ask. Don’t care.
>>28744466Boats a boring and so was your reply
>>28743654What V8 Jaguar do you own that is worth $70k? They depreciate almost as badly as a Maserati.>>28743660Kind of a useless feature unless you want to trailer your plane back from the airport every time you use it and find a place to park your vehicle and trailer every time you fly (none of the small airports I've flown from have parking for that available so you'd have to make arrangements with the FBO to take up multiple spaces or park behind one of the shops with their permission)
>>28744672Garage space, price I dont really care about
A lot of GA crashes from overconfident pilots lately. Don't kill yourself OP
>>28743654>stuka at home
>>28744344>I’m 10,000 feet hanging around the clouds, enjoying some good pipe tobaccoNice LARP fantasy, fag.
>>28743654The SE1 is really cool but they've already basically confirmed a two-seat version and I'd be way more interested in that, even if I'd end up mostly flying solo it'd be nice just for luggage space.
>>28743654There's a certain romantic silk-scarf notion to flying on your own.I really like the plane you picked out for it. Flying solo in a side-by-side seating arrangement really stifles the experience. You need to have the visibility on both sides. I genuinely miss the days where I was flying in a tandem seat plane high-wing and cruising over the lake at 50 feet with my elbow hanging out the window.I remember a monologue from an old aviation movie that really summed it up.>When you're up there all alone. It's just you, your plane, and the sky. And you don't want anybody up there with you. You don't want anybody to spoil it. Everything's kinda still. You have the feeling that you're halfway to heaven. You don't even seem to hear the sound of your own motor, Just a kind of a buzz, Like the sky was calling you... Like the sky was singing you a song. And the earth is so far below you that it just doesn't matter anymore. The sky is the thing that's important. The sky is your pal. You feel like nudging it and saying, "hi, sky. How are you today?" The wind drift comes straight off the morning star, and beautiful white clouds drift towards you. And they're like old friends, friends you never want to say good-bye to. You see a patch of clear area between them, and you duck in and out like a porpoise rolling in the ocean. Then you say to yourself, "boy, oh, boy, "this is the only time A man is really ever alive, the only time he's really ever free." The old sky smiles back at ya and says, "boy, you're right. You're dead right."One plane that I think would be really great, is pic related. They make them brand new. But unfortunately, the price tag is insane.
>>28743654I'd wait until they came out with a two-seater and/or closed canopy option
>>28746489Based. All these faggots wanting a side by side with other people need a rope and a high place. Especially the one who mentioned boats lmao
>Americans can just buy an air plane for the cost of a carI suffer in YUROPOOR
>>28745370Nah they actually based it off of the Hawker Hurricane and Spitfire then interpreted those designs through art deco. its v gorgeous.
>>28746869Sure some of them can buy the airplane, but your consolation is when it comes time for annual maintenance, they balk at the price and sell the plane.t. A&Palso, all fields.
>>28746940>Hurricane and SpitfireYou or them are blind
>>28746946Why do you disagree? There’s literally videos of the engineers talking about what planes they took design elements from.
>>28747045Because it looks nothing like a Hurricane or a Spitfire, even their prototypes. There are a few inter war designs that more resemble this thing than either of these aircraft but their names escape me at this moment.
>>28746866>side by sidenah man, your copilot/passenger should go behind you
>>28747045Well they failed. It doesn't look anything like a spitfire or hurricane. It looks more like a mix between the type 224 and a P26
>>28747103>PicrelLol… lmao even wtf are you talking about maybe YOU are blind, sir.
>>28747103Bro go look at the OP pic again you can clearly see a combination of two semi-ellipses, with a smaller semi-ellipse at the front and a larger one at the rear. Just like on a Spitfire
>>28747109Literally identical if you swapped the radial out
>>28747109NTA but it looks just like that thing from the leading edge aft.
>>28747129>>28747130OP here to say yall are loony
>>28747138>yeah my dude this plane totally looks like a spitfire
>>28747157I love how this discussion has gone from me, saying they took design elements and interpreted them with art deco to… “hey this guy says it looks exactly like a spitfire fuck this guy”
>>28747138Like I said, looks like a type 224 and a P26 mixed.>>28747109illiterate
>>28747163What design elements you blind baboon? There isn't a single piece of the plane that looks like a Spitfire.
>>28747186Fucking 90% of it look at the profile of the wings for christ sake. I bet you think a P38 and Corsaire look the same too. Fucking P26 that was rich.
>>28747200>Fucking 90% of itJesus Christ kill yourself
Shouldn't this be on /n/? Looks neat though. I would love to get a private pulots license but A I'm poor and B one of my eyes are near-useless so I don't think I'd qualify.
>>28747241/n/ is the containment board for cyclists and public transportation fagsprivate jets are cool and therefore welcome to start a thread whenever they like
>>28747248Thank you>>28747214Yeah stupid I can post here
>>28743654
>>28747200>look at the profile of the wings for christ sake.Yeah nah you're cracked out. That looks nothing like a spitfire's elliptical wing. The leading edges are straight, slightly swept, the wingtips forward biased and blunt, the trailing edge is straight. Horizontal stabilizer is all wrong too.
>>28747200>>28747314Much closer to a hurricane but still doesn't look based on it.
What the fuck are y'all on about?>muh hurricane>muh stuka It looks like a tweaked Ryan ST
[x] cheap enough[x] can store at home[x] its funI dont know anything about planes but I would go for it and I bet that these days its a lot saver than a Sundays drive in a sporty or a bike
>>28743654Fuck it. You gotta die somehow and this is way cooler than a motorcycle.
If you don’t have a pilots license, you need to lower your tone when you talk to me
