The Subaru BRZ / Toyota GT86 is the most homo coded nu-sports car ever conceived
>>
Nah, the miata is

The GR86 is one of the best sports cars ever made.
>>
>>28745423
I already have a 2-door Civic.
>>
>>28746115
what sport does it compete it?
>>
>>28744293
Why couldn't soiyota just put a 2AR Camry engine or a 1.8L Corolla in there? That would be more true to the idea of an eight six, it's like "hmm we've made all these motors that work and make 90% of the market happy, I've got it, let's go with this subaru piece of shit that not only doesn't make a lot of power, but comes with all the subaru issues people love so much".
>>
>>28744293
On paper they're pretty good cars, especially for the money.
But the front end looks so fucking bad on all of them
>>
>>28746148
toyota's first mistake was giving any fucks about niche nostaliga people who only care/cared about what is ultimately a low quality mostly nonsense manga and anime (with a handful of decent to even great scenes)
toyota's second mistake was not full funding the platform,
and toyota's third mistake was not giving it a 2 liter turbo

I would unironically transplant an SR20VET into one of these than (god help me) ever drive a subaru boxer engine for "sport"

>I would unironically transplant an SR20VET into one of these than (god help me) ever drive a subaru boxer engine for "sport"
It's really unfortunate how poor the powerplant choice is, savagegeese drove a K24 powered one and it was amazing, they could've put literally anything in there, it could've been a Camry engine or something and people would've been happy, that's why the new FR86 cars are 2.4L, you need torque.
>>
>>28746148
The whole car was an homage to their greatest hits. It was decided that the car would use a boxer engine, like their first sports car, the Sports 800, a year before Subaru became involved in the project.
The car was almost identical in terms of size as the Celica GT-FOUR, had a greenhouse silhouette almost identical to that of the 2000GT, and in Japan it used the trim/grade names of the A80 Supra.
The AE86 part of the car came in the form of its very nature. It was intended to be playful and inexpensive; a tool for young drivers to learn how to be enthusiasts, before turning to bigger and better things.

thanks niggpt

>tool for young drivers to learn how to be enthusiasts, before turning to bigger and better things.
>only for the young people to be so cooked they can't even afford a fucking BRZ brand new
Tragic
>>
>>28746176
I've read a fair bit about the development of this car. Moon sources are far more detailed than what you'll find in English.
>>28746179
The project leader apparently wanted to make enough of them that they would quickly become cheap on the used market, even if young people weren't buying them new.

>>28744293
>cheapest/lightest, rwd car on the market
its hella gay guys it should have a turbo and 4wd and a camry engine

Genuinely why do men get miatas? They are cute wife cars
>>
>>28746744
This, a used, 1 year old mustang is such a good value it's unreal, and I don't even like fords but it's 486 horsepower for not a lot of money for what you're getting
>>
>>28746744
They are? wtf
God, I really want a v8 mustang someday but even 100k mile mid 2000s stang base with v8 is 30k usd here.
>>
>>28746503
not a sports car
>>
>>28745423
Man if they just called this the Civic Hybrid Coupe, people would be flipping their shit over how good this car looks compared to the rest of the current Civic lineup. Hell, they probably wouldn't even be mad at the $14k price hike vs Civic Hybrid Hatchback given the Type R mods and just how much better this car looks in comparison.

It's the only convertible most people can afford. I also hear they are just way mkre fun to drive than you'd think. I can understand it.

>I also hear they are just way mkre fun to drive than you'd think. I can understand it.
It's got all the ingredients of a sports car, 4 wheel independent wishbones, 4 wheel disc 5 speed manual, it revs to 7 grand, and the gravy on top is that it was pretty efficient and really reliable, the only downside is you can't fit 5 people and luggage in there since it's not a luxury sedan, but as a sports car, it's perfection.
>>
>>28748195
its only flaw is that it's almost uncomfortably small to sit in, or just literally uncomfortable if you're taller than 6'2
its engine is also underpowered but that's a given
>>
>>28748051
Isn't it somehow slower than a civic hybrid though?
>>
>>28748208
But then they made it look fucking awful.
