If you don't know British asphalt is half as thick as European asphalt. I'm wondering if this is actually helping them spend significantly less on road maintenance or if it's actually just making it worse.

>people ignore long term costs for short term profits
tale as old as time

I can say with confidence, that British roads are better than American, French, and Spanish roads but worse than German.
Those are the countries I have driven in.

Ask in March when all the patched up potholes reappear.

British highways are not better than French or Spanish highways. They're wider but the lanes are smaller and they feel like shit to drive on cause the asphalt is cardboard. Also way more congested.

I dunno, the M5 and M4 are pretty decent.

Those are actually the exact ones I drove on during my trip to Britain a week ago, along with M1 and the buckle around London. Is this post implying the other ones are even worse?

Dunno I don't really drive on any other ones. They're fine mate, you're just being a whiny bitch.
>>

I just think they're kinda annoying to drive on. I would pick French roads over British roads any day of the week.

I do asphalt QA and i think the UK seems like a fucking awful climate to both lay and have asphalt last in. Rain, winds, soft ground. Probably becomes hard to compact because of this too.

American roads are very state and local government dependent.

Great Britten is the size of Michigan. The asphalt could be 2x that of Yourop.

From images they tend to look kinda thin and brittle like British ones, although I've never been there to confirm.

>Americana roads suck
>t.I went to Washington D.C. when I was in college
Or "at uni" or whatever the fuck, I don't understand that mentality
I would never make the assumption that the roads are consistent in a single county, let alone state, and I've been to I think 23 states
The only countries I think you could make generations like that would be Luxembourg-sized and smaller
Although it consistently amuses me when Europeans visit the US and get mind-blown when they see yellow school busses
That's true, it's not a TV thing, almost all schools have yellow school busses, I think the NHSTA developed that color specifically for them for visibility

The road bed matters more than the thickness of the asphalt.

Oh my god bro, even worse than the Brits?
RIP to amerilards, no wonder you guys have so many accidents.

Depends on the city.
My hometown has flawless roads.
While my current town has shitty roads
