You guys know anyone irl into /o/? Know anyone into racing or are you into it yourselves? Fast and Furious clips (the first one) are popping up in my feed and I realize I have no friends like that who share my interests. Been meaning to get into it more and meet people who aren't fags but it seems like my local scene has a lot of them. An example of a fag would be someone that does takeovers. I'm looking for the regular car enthusiast crowd, maybe get into racing or rally. Any ideas where to start?
Go to your nearest track or HPDE event and talk to the people there
>>28747182Any tips for going alone or how to even locate these events? I live a couple hours from Watkins Glen was hoping to find something closer
>>28747178I got my dad and my brother into this stuff. You can also meet people at autocross and stuff if you go to the same event regularly. Just try not to be a total sperg.
>>28747498How do you make friends?
>>28747178I know a few rich boomers with amazing garages, but there's nowhere to properly enjoy them here. The roads are utterly terrible, and the circuits are so dull that they aren't even worth driving to. These guys seem to live vicariously through televised racing, and sim racing. It's pretty sad actually; even those who do well in life still have nothing to do. Dead culture.
>>28747178My nephew and I are "two halves of the same idiot", and so we get on very well when it comes to cars, but otherwise I only have one other person outside of family that's into cars, and I met him through ARMA 3 of all fucking things. He lives quite literally on the otherside of the world, though, so we have yet to meet eachother irl. As for your question of *how* to meet people, I myself have met reasonable lads at track days and car shows (preferably local), and you either have then come up to you, or you go up to them, usually to comment on their car or driving. At track days I've had a couple guys ask for advice as they're new, and at car shows I've asked the owner about their car, or vice versa, and kinda hit it off. From there you'd just need to do what I didn't and keep in contact.
My neighbour used to be an engineer that worked for ford/dodge/gm and roush racing. Single guy so he showed me his basement onetime of decades of parts hoarding and shit you could only dream of, picked up a turbo I thought was for a dump truck and started telling me his story of almost setting a land speed record in a foxbody but couldn't back it up the next day. Still does work for some real race guys that keep in touch with him
